I'm not saying Milton will surpass Maye but this analysis is encouraging.
This seems like a silly take. I watched Javon Bakerās path to the draft videos on youtube and he literally would never pick up his dog poop. Like his dog would poop outside some building and the guy wouldnāt pick it up and for some reason this was in multiple videos when he walked his dog in public places so he literally never picks up his dog poop. I just hate jerks like that like itās the bare minimum of responsibility when owning a dog. Javon Baker is too lazy / irresponsible to do this no wonder he had to leave Alabama. I really donāt want him in Foxboro like dude i am literally worried Iām gonna step on his dogās massive turds now š
Nice unfiltered look at his production last year with all the good and the bad. 20+ mins long but well worth the time. You can tell right away this guy is special, spectacular catch after spectacular catch. If he can translate his game to the NFL level then we just got ourselves a very exciting WRā¦cheers boys
Might not be likely but itās easy to see how it could happenā¦.
The D is inarguably decent with potential to be a top D in the league. Even with all the injuries last year, including 2 of our best players, we kept that garbage offense in the game most games. Not crazy to think they could be legitimately good this year. Would love to see one more reliable CB on the squad but our starters are good. A lot of good players on that side of the ball.
If the D performs to their potential and keeps the O in the game, they could steal a few early wins and gain confidence to build on. I kind of like our WR room. Thereās guys that can make plays. Obviously wish there was a clear cut #1 but it looks like a group of good players, assuming the rookies perform(which in fairness, should not be assumed). BUT POTENTIALLY! The O lineā¦.well, maybe theyāll surprise usā¦Thereās some good talent there, maybe itāll gel for the group. Maybe. Solid RBās. Love Rhamondre. Would have liked to see them bring in a TE that got me excited but Henry gets the job done. Iād be shocked if they were better than middle of the road but middle of the road would do with a strong D.
Iām looking forward to seeing Brissett play. Heāll be fun to root for. If Maye beats him out for the spot as the year progresses, thatāll be fun too.
Iām just saying, guys, it could be a fun year and this team could be competitive. A little tempered optimism feels good. Iām not confusing them for a contender but Iām excited to watch it develop and see some positive results. š¤·š»āāļø
Heās good at everything, but not great at any one thing. He looks like a competent receiver, but if he canāt create any separation, then he will be strictly a contested catch guy, and that doesnāt bode well for his future prospects.
His route running is good but not elite, and for a guy without top end speed, it will have to improve against NFL-caliber competition. He still does a nice job of making tough catches and fighting through contact, but if he canāt improve on some of the finer aspects of his game, he might be relegated to little more than a package player.
Watching some Drake highlights and Iāve been pretty impressed by his TE, Bryson Nesbit. I didnāt watch CFB as closely as I should have this year so curious from those who did - should this guy be a target next year? After not drafting Tez (which I think was perfectly fair), it could be nice to have someone that our QB is familiar with, but I also realize Iām only looking at him in highlights so far.
Read an interesting article that seems to push for drake Maye to be the starter week 1. Just found it interesting.
I was doing some analysis of the top quaterbacks of all time and notices some similarities between them that really make me think Mayes has a great chance to succeed.
So lets look at some of the best QBs.
Tom Brady. Not much to say here, the dude isn't real, probably a robot no point comparing him to Mayes or anyone. The outlier.
Peyton Manning. I know people will probably put Montana here but I'm a Manning fan.
Joe Montana. 4 super bowls, clutch.
Dan Marino. Ahead of his time, setting passing records like crazy when the league was much less friendly to a passing attack.
Mahomes. I think he's already done enough to fall in at number 5 in the modern era. 3 super bowl MVPs, 3 super bowl wins, 2 regular season MVPs. Higher winning % than the goat.
You've probably noticed something that makes you feel pretty good about Mayes.
That's right every top modern QB in the league who is human has a last name starting with M.
What we looking at for the WR in terms of starters and who we cut?
Let me know your thoughts please. It was tough because we have 9 guys that can realistically make the team and then some camp bodies. If we carry 6 on the roster (+1 maybe for ST?), what does our room look like?
This is my opinion on who we keep.
X (Speed, contested catch guy) - Bourne. Tyquan, Raegor, Baker fight for Playing time when bourne is out.
Z (Route runner, intermediate guy) - Polk/Osborn
Slot (RAC, crossing route guy) - Pop. Tyquan, Raegor, Baker fight for PT when Pop is out.
This is 7 wr on the roster (raegor maybe considered specialist bc the new KO rules). This may be too many but with no cemented 1 we need the extra roster spot here.
Cut: Dudu, Boutte, Camp bodies. I hope pats cut Juju but, some are saying it would be unwise bc of the cap hit. Heās a solid blocker but heās unathletic and is only good for possession short routes against zone (which we dont need). I just see no upside w Juju even though i think hes over hated (simply bc production doesnāt match his pay which makes sense)
If we have too (if juju makes the team), who do we cut: Thornton or Raegor? Raegor imo has some untapped talent if you watch what he did last year (even though small sample size) plus hes a good kr. Thornton has untapped potential simply because speed but we would need to gameplan him into our system like MIA or KC does in their offense to really see his potential. Otherwise he just doesnāt fit, so i think we cut thornton.
Lets speculate.
I saw a dude wandering around one of the shops in the terminal at Logan, and thought it kinda looked like KB. Sure enough, I looked a little closer and he was wearing a long sleeved Bourne Blessed shirt.
I didn't want to bug him but I just went up and gave him a fist bump and said "hey good luck this year man, big fan, we're all rooting for you". He couldn't have been nicer. He was wearing sunglasses and all blinged out and smiling from ear to ear and was just like "thanks so much man, appreciate you, what's your name?"
Thought he seemed like an extremely positive and genuine dude from my brief encounter, exactly like the impression his public persona gives you. Just thought that was kinda cool.
There are 4 episodes. Iām 5 minutes into the first episode and itās just him working out like a crazy person and kinda chilling and taking in the gym a bit.
Think it give an interesting close look at one of our draft picks. Personality seems much more comfortable and relaxed in this environment vs talking to reporters.
I was as angry as anybody that the Pats didn't pick Kiran Amegadjie with their 3rd round pick on Day 2 of the draft, but I just read that Amegadjie only managed only managed 21 bench press reps on his pro day. And this performance has the Bears' former scouting director suspecting that the Bears will only use him at Guard - and not at Tackle.
How poor is 21 bench reps for an OT? By comparison, all the OTs participating in this test at the combine managed between 27 and 31 reps. Even Eugene Chung - our legendary 1992 1st round OT bust - bettered that performance with 23 reps at the 1992 combine.
21 reps isn't even a notably-good result for a TE. And the Patriots actually have a WR on their roster who managed 21 reps at his combine. Yikes.
It's true Amegadjie is still coming back from a quadriceps injury that has sidelined him since October, so I don't know what sort of shape he's was in for his pro day. All I can say is that if I were an OT prospect and I thought that there was any chance that I could only complete 21 reps on the bench - I would probably elect not to participate in that test!
I've also read in scouting reports that Amegadjie has a tendency to bend at the waist when blocking. Add that to his poor bench performance and the circumstances of his quad injury, and you do have to wonder whether he lacks the upper-body & core strength necessary for the OT position at the NFL level. Kiran did, after all, play in the Ivy League and that's probably not the conference most likely to expose this problem!
I'm still unhappy with the selection of Caedan Wallace with the #68 pick, but passing on Amegadjie seems to have been the right call.
