Once upon a time, Dallas gave #21 to a young, fresh-faced rookie RB. His first few years, he had some truly dominating moments! Record-setting games!! Lots of fans bought his jersey! But then... he trailed off dramatically. And he ended up ceding playing time to his backup, who looked a lot better (albeit in limited touches).
I'm speaking, of course, of Julius Jones.
But it's Jones' backup that I think will be the role model for another ex-21 RB. Marion the Barbarian Barber III (rip) was our finisher. When the defense was tired -- in the third & fourth quarter, or on the goal line -- we'd lean on our big OL & let the Barbarian hammer away.
And that brings us to today.
I don't wanna see Zeke in our starting lineup. Never again. I'd rather have a C- talent (Rico, Deuce, whatever) with a CHANCE of breakaway runs than a C- talent (Zeke) who can't get 20 yards with a 15 yard headstart.
But in the 4th quarter? Or 3rd & goal from the 1? Smith at LG, Cooper at C & HOFer Martin at RG & Zeke up the middle?
At that point, as the Barbarian of our RB committee, FEED ZEKE.
And may the Ghost of Marion the Barbarian ride one more.
I made posts in each of the last two years about the Cowboys cleaning up in the market for UDFAs.
2022: The Cowboys signed 8 of the top 80 UDFAs and 6 of the top 40.
2023: The Cowboys signed 9 players from the top 70 UDFAs, 8 of which fell within the top 40.
This year's list featured 63 players remaining from his top 300 list, and the only one that ended up with the Cowboys was the 30th ranked UDFA (ranked 245th overall in the draft pool), Minnesota TE Brevyn Spann-Ford.
Of course, Brugler's word is not gospel, and ranking players that far down the list can be a difficult task, so this doesn't mean that the Cowboys UDFA performance is certainly going to be bad in the end. And even just one UDFA rookie making the team and contributing should probably be considered a success.
I just found it interesting that they were by far the best team in undrafted free agency two years straight based on initial rankings, then fell so hard in that metric this year.
I heard Hoffman has been at the Cowboys facility everyday, and then practicing hard afterward across the road at another training place/gym.
If he takes Center,
Beebe can take LG, Smith can kick out and be LT, Martin keeps RG, and Guyton kicks Steele out into a backup role.
We have a top 5 o-line (to be modest), to be cocky, I think we have a top 2, between us and the Lions.
And then we'd have 2 starter quality linemen as depth that can move around.
Crazy awesome.
Something kinda like "The Last Dance". I miss these days and feel like going back in time for a bit
Can some make me a new wallpaper for my iPhone for the upcoming season?
A Cowboys/Bears wallpaper. Thank You 😊
For context I’m out of state and when I see other fans I don’t know what to say to them. Should I just, “HERE WE GOOOOO!!”?
So I have been looking for post regarding 2024 season and the draft. Anyone excited about it or the draft? Does anyone think stuff going to change? Does anyone think the Cowboys are all in?
Fresh out the oven. Get yourself a slice.
For what it's worth, I'd be trying to get Kyle Trask from the Buccaneers. Dude lit it up in college and spent two years behind Brady
