If the Lions sweep the Packers in 2025, the start of the tie would move to 2010, making it 15-15 over 15 seasons.
(Tested with NFL Playoff Machine.)
If the Lions lose to the Bills and win the rest, they get the 1 seed based on conference record.
If they lose to any other team other than the Bills, but win the rest including the Bills, they get the 1 seed based on strength of victory. Note: It is much harder to test strength of victory tiebreakers as then would need to determine every single other game. So this one is not as definitive.
Even if there are ways to make the strength of victory tiebreaker flip, the Lions can afford to lose the upcoming Bills game while still controlling their own destiny for the 1 seed.
(Another note: if they lost the Packers game and won out the rest, the Eagles would get the 1 seed.)
Barring an unprecedented collapse, Detroit’s likely entering uncharted territories.
Something their fans have never witnessed in their near century of existence: 13 Wins and beyond.

During the Steelers - Bengals game, on one of the Bengals' kick-offs, the ball landed just inside the 'Landing Zone', then bounced in the endzone, and curled out of bounds. Pittsburgh got the ball on the 20. Isn't this incentive for hard, low, line-drive kicks that skip in the landing zone and go out through the endzone. Hard to field. Higher possibility of a muff. Alot of teams might just take the 20.
Edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87BPUwsVngo Brandon Aubrey is doing is doing this. I think the kick-off will evolve dramatically in the next few years. Thanks StyrofoamTuph for the tip.
