Jersey Suggestion

I have a friend who is a Saints fan in a jersey gift exchange. I’m not too familiar with their players pre-2020 outside of the prominent (Drew Brees, Colston, Thomas, Bush, etc). Does anyone have a suggestion of a more niche player that a true Saints fan would appreciate a jersey of? Like an underrated player from the Super Bowl team, etc? I believe he’s been a fan since ‘09.

Shoutout to Joe Woods ever since DA got fired i haven’t seen anymore GOD AWFUL defensive play designs

good to know we just suck i’d rather watch our players get burnt every play than watch another “defensive genius” play calling that results in two receivers being WIDE open

Does anyone remember Tommy Stevens?

With the recent injury to Taysom, does anyone remember when we drafted Tommy Stevens and he was supposed to be our next Taysom Hill lol

Saints medical staff a turn off for future prospects/players?

I understand the age of our roster but Jesus, the amount of injuries this year was TRULY horrendous. Coming off the Olave Injury, Shaheed Injury, and now Taysom. It just looks bad especially from the outside. Idk I just hope it something that gets addressed this offseason

Famous Jamis

Just watching Jamis slinging passes tonight just reminds me how much DA screwed us.

i’m not the only one who thinks we need to draft a cb in the 1st round right?

i’ve seen everybody say Saints need an edge but i honestly think our biggest weakness is our CB room. the only reason we’ve been getting scored on at all is because of our CBs getting burnt constantly, hell i’d draft 3 CBs I genuinely can hardly remember the last time i’ve seen a pass get broken up.

Do you think Taysom will play next year?

I just got my first saints jersey and I wanted it to be my favorite player, and then my goat gets injured

He’s 35, plays a lot of positions, do you think he’ll be able to keep up again next year? I wanted him to win a ring but idk man

Away Tailgating - Saints @ Giants

Who Dat Nation!

I am flying into New York from Edmonton to see my first Saints game! Tailgating isn't a huge tradition in Canada so wondering if anyone knows how/ is hosting a tailgate at MetLife this Sunday?

Any tips or recommendations are much appreciated

2025 Cap Question

Visiting Charger fan with a question about next year for the Saints! I usually end up looking over overthecap as we get closer to the end of the season and wanted to get general thoughts on what this subreddit feels like going into next season. Figures coming from here for context: New Orleans Saints Salary Cap Calculator | Over The Cap

With the cap projected at $276,173,000m for the moment, this leaves the Saints with -$62,801,756m in space. Obviously Loomis can void year the hell out of something, but this seems like the first offseason where there's enough moves to properly reset, though I don't have the roster knowledge that everyone here will. Anything that's a post 6/1 cut can more or less be swapped with trade if that feels more relevant. With that being said, what are thoughts on the following moves:

Derek Carr being cut/traded as a post 6/1 designation gives the Saints 21.5m (going to round going forward) in dead cap and saves 30m. With how much dead cap exists on the current roster and a new HC, this moves feels like a no brainer to me. Give the new HC the option to pick out whatever cheap vet option or rookie in the draft. I would personally be looking to draft a top end qb in 2026 when there will be enough cap to fortify the OL via free agency. I don't love any of the prospects in the class, but never a guarantee the Saints pick high in 2026 to grab their preferred qb.

Ryan Ramczyk: Not sure what news is out here for this, so please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on this one. If he's healthy enough to play I think you find moves elsewhere, if not a post 6/1 cut creates 11m in dead money, but saves 18m.

Taysom Hill: Brutal injury for Taysom yesterday, sorry about that. That being said he's 34 and with the team needing cap relief this feels like a foregone conclusion now. A post 6/1 cut leaves 8m in dead money, with 10m in space.

Demario Davis: Even with his age, have to think the Saints could find a trade partner. There's not a ton of savings here, so this is debatable for sure. I'm simply of the mindset of committing to starting over, and shedding contracts of any aging players to have the best future possible in 2026 and beyond. Post 6/1 trade gives the sames 8m in dead cap, and 4m in relief. Again, not a ton of space but with how tight things are, could be beneficial.

Cameron Jordan: Similar to Demario, though the cap savings is more significant. 9m in dead money, 11m in savings.

Jamaal Williams: Again player that can free up some space. Kamara stays on this roster and a rookie can replace him here. Dead cap of 1m, 3m saved.

Tyrann Mathieu: How's Mathieu been this season? This is one I'm less certain of but again given his age, he's on the chopping block. Dead cap of 5m, savings of 6m.

Nathan Shepherd: Not going to comment on my opinion of Shepherd after the Herbert incident haha. Dead money 2m, cap savings of 5m.

This leaves the Saints with 24m in 2025 with 40 rostered players. With 9 draft picks (please correct me if I'm wrong) there is space to sign a vet or two at key spots, and seeing what the young players have. The Saints are looking to have close to 100m available in 2026 after shedding these contracts and the roster is truly open with the majority of the voided year money dealt with. Let me know your thoughts!

Justin Fields might be the closest things to a Taysom Hill replacement.

There's an unfortunately high chance Taysom just played his last football game (despite having another year on his contract) and Justin Fields' contract ends this year. I see that it has been brought up before on other subreddits - people speculating if Justin Fields could fill a similar role to what Taysom does. Fields is probably a better passer than Taysom even if he's not starting QB caliber, and he's faster than Taysom. He'd probably be a worse route runner/receiver and he probably wouldn't be as reliable in the bruiser/FB role, so it's definitely not a 1:1 replacement but he could still fit into the system.

Yes I know this has basically zero chance of actually happening. Yes I know we are in cap hell and have to address other position groups well before this. Yes I know you probably want to make a snyde comment about how much you think everything is Carr's fault. I only posted this for the sake of discussing the idea of Justin Fields in our offense SINCE Taysom's career might be over.

Really want to show Taysom how much we appreciate him?

If you really want to show Taysom just how much we appreciate him - let's at least get him recognized for the pro bowl! There's no limit to how many times you can submit votes daily.

How would you rebuild?

I’m curious to hear people’s takes and thoughts on the topic of a rebuild. If you were GM, how would you handle the upcoming offseason? Do you try to sell high on what you can and essentially “start from the bottom” or do you try to hold onto some pieces and go from there?

Just another run Mickey out of town post.

Saw this on twitter today. Add Baun to the list of good Saints that we didn’t resign due to poor management.

The one problem we can't seem to solve.

It might be recency bias, and maybe I'm just rage posting but I feel like my point is valid regardless. There is a single insurmountable issue that the Saints face that (in my opinion) prevents them from winning any meaningful games, it can't be solved with better coaching, drafting, or cap management, but it nevertheless HAS TO STOP.

It feels like every time the game comes down to a key referee's decision that it ends up a loss. Tonight you had a pair of penalties erase a touchdown, one an illegal low block on Penning was just objectively wrong, the other a hold on Fuaga they didn't replay and I'm too angry to go back and watch it atm. That drive ends in no points off a missed field goal, in a game we lost by seven points. If everything else goes exactly the same way, that's the deciding moment of the game. Instead of going for it on fourth near the goal line, we're lining up for a game winning field goal and extending the win streak.

As I said, I don't know how to fix this issue but I'll be sending the team the bill for my inevitable liver transplant.

What accomplishments are you looking for to stay engaged for the rest of the season?

Obviously the team will still be focused on trying to win the rest of their games but as a fan what are you looking to see to keep the season fun?

Offensively I’m looking to see Kamara’s first 1000 yard season.

Defensively I’d love to see Bresee and Granderson get into the top 32 for sacks this season (Bresee tied at 34 and Granderson tied at 57 which is half a sack behind tied for 37).

As a bonus it’d be nice to see Alontae and KoolAid come out of the year with at least a pick each but doesn’t matter.

Really none of it matters but since we aren’t heading to playoffs at least it’s something to look for!
