1999 Jets

With all the talk of Jet collapses/ being cursed, SOJ, etc.... one thing always annoys me, and I want to mention it. I dont think that the '99 Jets (pre Vinny's achilles in Week 1) were expected to be as dominant as most claim. I just looked- they were tied for 5th shortest odds to win SB. Were they projected to be above average? Yes, o/U was 10.5.... but it wasnt like they were projected to win AFc in a cakewalk, for whatever that is worth.

Joe Burrow

I was wondering if we'd even win with Joe Burrow or if we'd figure out how to screw that up too.

What to do from here as a fan?

The pain and suffering is getting to much to Endor. Sundays have become painful. This organization has got to do some serious changes. You know it’s bad when we are up 21-7 and my first thought while watching with my buddies is “watch them not score again and we somehow lose” and sure enough that’s exactly what happens. This team has actually given me ptsd and as a fan for close to 30 years it’s become extremely tough to support and get excited for this team. Are we back in another complete rebuild?

Is rooting for a new team considered blasphemous?

After thirty years I think I'm done. I see other people having fun and it's just not fair lol. I was considering options. I was thinking either Baltimore or Minnesota. I like purple lol. Any AFC East or NFC East team: can't do it. Never KC.

Anyone got any info on this vintage Jets jacket?

Hey ya'll. I was recently handed this jacket down to me by my grandfather who was a big fan. It is in IMMACULATE condition for being an older winter jacket. Upon doing some poking around, I learned that this jacket uses the logo from the 90's and that this is also a Champion branded jacket. Everything functionally works on/in the jacket, including the removable hood. I was wondering if anyone has anymore info on this specific jacket, I have not been able to find any info on it. If someone is familiar with the jacket, how much would one of these sell for pre-owned in amazing condition?

Miami Tailgates?

A friend (Pats fanđź‘Ž) and I are going to the game on Sunday. Are there any local or traveling members of the group that are planning to go, and tailgate ahead of the game? If so, and you would be willing to include a couple of extra heads, please send me a direct message.

Both 31M. We will bring some beer and cash to throw towards food if invited!

D.J. Reed blasts officiating after New York Jets' loss

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/42729354/dj-reed-blasts-officiating-new-york-jets-loss

"On the Seahawks' game-winning touchdown drive, which culminated with an 8-yard run by Zach Charbonnet with 5:31 left in the game, the Jets were flagged five times."

"They have allowed five first downs by penalty on fourth down, the most in the NFL this season and tied for the most by any team this century."

The article doesn't even mention the worst one: (1) at one point the Seahawks were given EIGHT ATTEMPTS at a touchdown from one yard away. Ironically, the last time I saw something so egregious was last year when the Cowboys robbed the Seahawks. (I won't mention the DPI on the last play but Garrett backed up DJ Reed's tweet so it's obvious how he feels.)

--

NFL Officiating against the Jets:

We are third overall for the number of penalties this season. Last game we had 12 penalties called against us. When that gets averaged in, we should be first (we're ahead of the other teams that played yesterday and today).

Again, we had 12 penalties last game! Including FIVE flags on the Seahawks last touchdown drive!

We have the second most penalties called against us in the last three games (other than the Giants).

We have more penalties called against us at home than any other team.

We have lost more yards to penalties than any other team.

We have 13 defensive pass interference calls against us. League average is 6.

We have 11 holding penalties against us. League average is 3.

We have 8 defensive holding penalties against us. League average is 3.

We have 5 unnecessary roughness calls against us. League average is 1.

You can chalk this up to bad play if you want. But at home we average 81 yards in penalties. Second place is Houston with 68. That's a very big difference!!!

-

I didn't include the penalties that we obviously deserve like the delays of game and false starts. But even with those, this is just egregious officiating. And coupled with the report that we were favored in 9/13 games and have lost 9 games....it kind of feels like people are putting money against the Jets. On paper we are a great team. In reality, we haven't played well at all. (I don't want to skip over this part. We really haven't played well.) But odds aren't set by people who regularly watch the Jets and know how much we suck.

I don't really have an answer or anything but i just looked these numbers up because I was curious and I wanted to share. it's been really pathetic around here lately and i'm tired of people beating themselves up. It's not just the guys on the field messing up. this is a pattern this year and often on decisive plays so please extend some of your disgust to the refs as well.

No more “play to win” discourse

As we’re approaching that fun part of the season where we post tankathon after every game can we please skip that one part where some of you feel the need to grandstand on every post that isn’t rooting for the Jets to win a pointless game? We are diving headfirst into a rebuild and cannot possibly benefit from winning a single game down the stretch so I’d appreciate it if we skip the “you’re a fake fan if you’re not rooting them this Sunday” stage that we hit every other year that proves unproductive every single time without fail

Rodgers has to be benched, cut this offseason

https://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/42723382

It’s nothing but excuses with him. Blaming other players, blaming the wind and not taking accountability. I’m sure there will be some defenders saying that he did say some of it falls on him, but when you compare that to all the other deflections he’s put out there, it doesn’t matter. Almost all other quarterbacks in this league defend their own, yet he’s the only guy who’s taking zero of the blame.

Take the hit and move on. No head coach worth a damn will come here. Rodgers is not going to change who he is. I wouldn’t even want a rookie or somebody else to learn from him. The game has changed and he has not adapted. He should not be influencing anybody on this team.

So close

The Jets are so close to being a contender in the division. Tons of bad plays but the other team has them too. Tons of amazing offensive and defensive plays too. The season has been entertaining.

This comes down to being a better team with five minutes to go. This week the offense had a chance to win. They didn’t. Last week the defense had a chance to win the game. They didn’t.

There are 4 more games with similar let downs with five minutes to go. If they were able to be a team to step up at the end of the game, maybe we have 8 or 9 wins now.

Can the defense play like today minus mistakes. Sure. That is a good next step to beating Miami. That’s not even a big ask. They can do it.

The bigger issue is the offense. Rogers can’t carry the team every play. They need a really good running game. Especially in the forth quarter.

Everyone wants to blowup the team when basically the Jets need to Improve defensively and get run blocking to keep drives moving.

Inside the 40, Rogers can score TD’s. Getting inside the 40 has been the problem.

To win at Miami will be to have a solid running game all day and step up with big runs in the forth quarter

I’m excited to see them get better in Miami. This time win the game with five minutes to go.

They have the talent. They can do it. Let’s go JETS!

Leonard Williams is a real one

There are two things the Jets are all about, and with his TD yesterday he helped us with both of these things: Tanking endlessly and seeing our players flourish elsewhere. (Well, really there's three things and the third is "bad ownership", but he can't really influence that so he did what he could)
