The globe's loudest band

A sub for one of the biggest hard rock bands of the 1970's, famous for songs like "Child In Time" and "Smoke On The Water." Formed in 1968, still rocking today.

Many people may have forgotten about the band, but we try to keep the spirit of this still-touring band alive! You can expect everything from this band on the sub. Music from every era of the band, awesome backstage live pictures, interviews and the 'craze' about all their new albums.

New releases can be found here and you can share your opinion about the many different musicians of the band, the various Marks and their albums, and all you can think of.

Deep Purple didn't stop after Blackmore!

This subreddit is meant for friendly discussion. Avoid insulting others and downvoting over disagreements.

Any type of post is welcome here, as long as its relevant to Deep Purple; songs, full albums, links to interesting forums or photo galleries, concert footage, news articles, discussions about anything related to the band.

Note that it must have a direct relation/purpose or it will be removed. Covers are an acceptable example. A cereal box with an advertisement to win Deep Purple tickets is not. For the superfans always posting here- spread out your posts as much as possible. If you need to make an appeal for a wrongly removed post or one caught by the spam filter, send a PM to a mod.

We welcome all strange kinds of women and hard lovin' men.

Leeds was fantastic

Sorry for only sharing a photo, I didn't record and videos whilst there. It was phenomenal however and they certainly live up to their reputation as the globes loudest band!

I know it's probably not the most crazy find, but getting this for 14 bucks felt awesome despite the writing on the cover and the fact I already own a Remaster lol. Are there any of these floating around for Who Do We Think We Are?

New to Deep Purple... what is the difference between Bird Has Flown and The Bird Has Flown?

In Youtube, they are labelled as different songs but i'm not sure if they are completely different or not.

Playlist suggestions needed. Slower, bluesier Deep Purple.

Looking to gather a playlist of slower, blues-like Deep Purple songs with mournful/soulful singing, slow tempo, and blues guitar. Please suggest any I am missing.

A Gypsy's Kiss

A Gypsy's Kiss is my favorite Deep Purple song. It sounds like it's about to explode and go off the rails. Controlled chaos. Great music. Great lyrics. Does anyone not like this song?

18/04/23 Awesome Ian Gillan Scream!!

This clip is from April of last year, from a show in Brasília. They were opening for Kiss of all people, in sort of a warmup gig to their appearance in Monsters of Rock later that week. I caught Simon's awesome solo - a great new spin on Steve's original while still keeping the feel, something he is very good at - and then this great scream by Ian which caught me entirely off guard. Can't stop watching it. I've heard him do this note in other recent performances of this song (São Paulo in September this year) but this is the punchiest, crispest one I've heard. He's still got it!

It was the second of three DP shows I've attended: the first was in the same city in 2014 and Ian had a cold or something, he really struggled and even though I loved the concert it was missing his iconic voice. It was very special to me seeing him on a good day where he can pull this off - music nerds, that's an E5! Same note as Bloodsucker in the original recording - and it made this night even more special.

Still have some other cool videos from both DP and Glenn Hughes shows, let me know if y'all wanna see more!

There's something about the way Jon Lord makes you appreciate piano solos. Something about his creative storytelling through them keys makes me go 🤯
