Track I made that’s mainly inspired by Oenone and Interstellar Overdrive. Also there’s some parts influenced by Astronomy Domine, and Echoes.

What do you think? :D

The concept is about a space craft heading for a black hole. They eventually cross the event horizon and find that they have survived, and that there is strange chirping life dwelling within the black hole.

Here’s the spoken word radio parts :

”Achieved conversion efficiency for 25%”

”Transmission override, event horizon imminent, prepare for crossing”

”Life forms detected”

”Wow what is that??”

Player HSS Strat vs Performer HSS vs Professional II Strat for David Gilmour Tone

Hello everyone! I current have a Player Strat HSS MIM and I mainly play Pink floyd/Gilmour tunes. Which strat would be best for that sound?

Not able to play them in person and want to take advantage of the Black Friday deals.

Pilgrimage to Pompeii

As stated in the title, in 2019 I found myself in Madrid, Spain for my daughter's graduation. She was a Fulbright scholar pursuing her master's degree at IE in Madrid. I knew I was gonna head to Europe to see this mountaintop moment in her (and my) life. I suggested that we take a father/daughter trip and asked her where she would like to go. Personally, I was pushing for northern Europe, but she suggested Rome. I deferred since she was the one being celebrated, but I asked if she would consider a day trip to Pompeii. She was like, "Oh, yeah . . . that's where the archeological digs are, right? Cool!" I was like, "Well, that's true, but more importantly, it is where Pink Floyd played in 1972."

Little did I know that this trip would turn out to be Floyd-centric. It just so happened that the weekend I was in Madrid, the Pink Floyd Exhibition "Their Mortal Remains" was active and in the same venue where my daughter's commencement ceremonies were: The Madrid Convention Center. I mean, I must have done SOMETHING right in a previous life to warrant such luck; to be IN Madrid when the exhibition was there? It was only going to be in three locations at the time (it has since expanded). I got to take my son to the exhibition the day after the graduation and it was AWESOME.

The trip to Pompeii was also pretty awesome. They had a special exhibit WITHIN the amphitheater where they played! It was like a Christian visiting Jerusalem or a Muslim visiting Mecca. What a trip!

It's that time of year again... posts of Spotify and other services showing "Floyd listening usage" (or related) for the year will be removed. When you see them, please report them. (you're in a Pink Floyd subreddit, it's expected you're on a list)

Waters' Guitar God Collaborations

Is there another artist that has worked with a greater collection of guitar gods than Waters? Gilmour, Clapton, and Beck is pretty hard to beat. Who comes close?

The last solo on "A Single Spark"

It's beautiful. Kind of reminds me of some of Division Bell stuff.

He's capable of creating such beautiful art because he's not eaten up with neurotic anger like some other musician I won't call out by name. If you catch my drift.

Will David release a live album/video of this tour?

I’m really hoping so because he did some really unique stuff and it would be a shame if it doesn’t get the treatment.

50 years ago today, Pink Floyd at Empire Pool, recorded during their winter tour of Britain

If I'm not mistaken, 50 years ago the BBC recordings were on a Friday and Saturday (same days / dates as this year) at Empire Pool. One of the best recordings of the 70s Floyd, covering Meddle through Animals material.

Was anyone there?

Anyone buy this? How is the blu-ray? It's a bit pricey compared to just buying the vinyl, wondering if you think it was worth it.

I listened to DSotM while high for the first time and it was genuinely life changing

Was up in Michigan with some friends for a football game, they both have been smoking/taking edibles for a while and offered to let me try one. Took a 20mg and after about and hour we went to bed. I threw on DSotM with noise cancelling headphones and it was incredible. I could literally feel the music coursing through my body and see the colors of every note. Truly cannot explain how mind boggling it was that this beloved album could be even more spectacular than I already thought it was.

New Machine and Terminal Frost

If you haven't listened to MLOR recently and are in a state where "state of mind" purchases are now legal, give that album another try. No, it's not DSOTM or Animals but neither is anything else.
