Jazz, blues, rock, funk - heck even classical - the Hammond organ is just pure awesomeness.
This is a place to appreciate the awesome sound of the Hammond.
Feel free to post, as long as it's related to Hammond Organs.

Alright gang. I have a new-to-me Hammond M3 but its got a horrible amp hum. Got it for free b/c the seller did the realize this until dusting if off and checking it out just before the sale. Said he didn’t want sell a project.
He replaced two tubes, but he didn’t say which. Power source/outlets have been eliminated as a suspect. Next steps?
I'm doing some reading on the different styles of tone generators (as one does😄) and I'm not finding a lot about the nitty-gritty of the L100 and what gives it a different sound than the M series.
This isn't a 'which is better' post or anything- I think they're both awesome! I'm just curious and hungry for some deets lol. Big thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this 🫶
Hii! I'm just looking to make friends with other organists! I have a k-133 and I'm new to playing, and I'm self taught. I would love recommendations of apps for learning that you guys think are helpful!
I might try to go buy an M3. My SUV can only fit it if it lies on it’s back. I need to rent or borrow a truck, don’t I? It can’t travel lying down can it?
Seller says it’s an A100. I say they’re delusional. What organ am I looking at?
Trying to make this Hammond organ playable. How do I get rid of that constant tone?
I have an M3 with a 6pin connector to a Leslie 122.
I want to be able to route audio from my synths into the Leslie.
I have a tube preamp sitting around…
Could I open up the preamp hardwire the audio out into the audio wires on the M3?
The M3 must power the Leslie. it doesn’t have it’s own power source, and I dont want the Line In from the preamp to play through the M3 built in speaker.
I know there is likely some Trek and/or Mr. Fishsticks option for this, but I am wondering if I could rig it up.
What considerations am I overlooking?
Someone in my area put this on CL, said x2 keys need new springs. I'm thinking about getting it, but am undecided. I'm usually a bass player but fell in love with the Hammond sound a few years ago. Joined a band on keys a year ago to level up my skills, started with a Yamaha reface YC and upgraded to a Mojo 61 a month or two ago (which I love). So I don't need the Korg. But it seems like a good deal, I can probably do the repair myself and like the thought of another flavor of clonewheel. But maybe I should be saving for the lower mojo manual or pedalboard rather than buying another single manual... Any thoughts or guidance is appreciated. If you have experience with the Korg, particularly gigging, I'd love to hear that as well. Thank you!
Editing, in case someone else looks here with the same question: it turns out Trek II makes a product that does exactly what I'm looking for, the VIB-3. I spoke to Michael on the phone about it, he had me check out a few things on the organ to make sure my A100 is compatible. I've ordered the unit, I'll try to post another update once it's installed
Original post: So I bought an A100 about 6 months ago, it didn't come with a Leslie which is just fine because I have neighbors who probably don't want to hear me practicing organ all day. I installed a Trek OBL-2 line out, which right now I have running into a Mini Vent, then into my computer's audio interface, and I listen to myself through headphones plugged into the computer.
I do not like the switch button on the Mini Vent it's too hard to execute fast switches between slow and fast. I am thinking to upgrade to the regular Neo Ventilator 2, which I understand has an input for a remote switch.
What is the best set up for this? Is there some adapter I can buy or easily make myself that would run straight from the Leslie output into the Neo Vent? The A100 has two half moon switches, one is a 2 position switch for on/off, the other has 3 positions labeled "main", "ensemble" and "echo"
The A100 has a 5 pin Leslie plug outlet in the back. I get a little confused every time I look up info on how to connect the Leslie output to a Neo Vent, partly because it seems there's so many different types of Leslie connectors - 5, 6, 9, 11 pins etc
Another possibility I suppose is to purchase a half moon switch that already has a 1/4" TRS that can plug directly into the Vent, and continue to use the audio from the OBL-2. The switches seem kind of over priced for what they are, I'd rather not spend $120 on one of there is another way. Also I'd have to remove one of the stock half moon switches to make room for it.
The third possibility I'm wondering about is if I just spliced into the wiring from one of the stock switches and somehow connected it to a TRS 1/4" plug for the Vent. The two position switch doesn't do anything but the three position switch will cut the sound off when in the "echo" position.
I am not super advanced at doing electrical work but I can manage basic soldering and cable splicing. Much appreciated any insights or advice here, thanks
Updating this post about mic'ing a Leslie 122 cabinet with two homemade "SM57" type dynamics:
I spread the two mics roughly 90 degrees apart and as far from the horn as I could get inside the cabinet, basically front left corner and rear left. The rear left mic is pretty close to the motor pulley. Results were good. Here is a recording, with a 3rd mic picking up the bottom. The bottom mic is mixed to the middle, the two top mics are panned left and right. High pass on the bottom mic at about 1K, low pass on the top mics at about 400. Apologies for my complete lack of organ-playing skill.
Main takeaway: the fast motor hardware needs maintenance, it's pretty noisy.

Note: I am not a keyboard player.
The classic Hammond organs (B3, etc) have two manuals. If you are playing a single manual “clonewheel” organ, how much do you miss having two manuals? Please enlighten me.
I was considering (read: daydreaming about) builing my own leslie and was wondering why the tweeters use those little horns while the bass speaker uses the drum baffle. Is it because high frequencies are more directional than low frequencies? Would it work to give the tweeter a similar baffle as the bass speaker has? Thanks in advance
it seems like i can only play in a certain key across all octaves.
My friend and I recently got a free Hammond off of facebook marketplace and cleaned/oiled it so it could be used for our jazz group. The organ is in great shape but we have one issue:
We have noticed that after we have the organ on that we developed sore throats/got sick. We recovered after <1 week but we practiced today and noticed our throats irritated after practice.
The organ smells like a toaster while operating and I think it’s carbon/dust buildup being vaporized/aerosolized by the heat of the tubes. We dusted the organ decently but definitely not thoroughly and we’re unsure of the source of the issue. Has anyone else experienced this?
What is the Best tone for Church sound?
Found what I think is a Hammond F2000 for free. Would it have germanium transistors in it? Interested in using to make guitar fuzz pedals with.
Aside from buying a donor organ, it looks like these keys are virtually unobtainium. Any tips? I have some broken keys on the upper manual.
Hey all! So I've had my M3 for a while and it's been beyond fantastic, but there's one caveat- I live in fear that my cats will find their way into the back of the organ and get electrocuted. I'd like to make a back cover for the organ to prevent their access, but I worry that it would deprive the tube amplifiers (my organ has an additional Hammond reverb amp) of airflow and cause overheating. Is it generally safe to cover up the back of a Hammond, with slots cut in the back for breathability of course, or do the tubes need unfettered access to ambient air to stay healthy and cool?
*clarification: i'm talking about a full cover for the whole back of the organ, not just the tone generator lid
Picked up a m3 for $25. Still works , all it needs is some oil.
What is the use of the thing I’m pointing at in the picture?
There was no manual that came with it, and I don’t know what exactly to look up.
The generator motor on my T-500 was noisy no and I was advised to replace it. I indicated that the motor had two oil ports with flip caps.
I was told that only the self starters had 2 oil ports. So, thats what I ordered. BUT, when it arrived, it isn’t the same. My b motor has a drive belt on the side away from the tone wheels. Was the advice on motor type incorrect or do I remove something to attach the drive belt?
