One of my favorite priest albums but also a kinda mid point between the 70s priest with Rob sounding a lot higher and almost reedy and the snarling screams of the 80s on British Steel onwards.
With that being said he sounds kind of odd on this album, not bad by any means, but definitely like he’s figuring out what he wants to go into and at a very quizzical midpoint.
Not to mention the abba inspired tune, the quasi funk affectations and the all out bizarreness of Evil Fantasies and stuff like it. Throw in the S&M parts of Burnin Up, and Evil Fantasies.
Evil Fantasies might just be the weirdest song in the entire Priest catalog, not bad but just bizarre, I can’t help but laugh listening to it.
Anyways what do y’all think of that album? In particular on Rob’s voice on it?
Like since halford 3, I felt like the halford band became some sort of experimentation for Rob to do all sort of musical ideas, and i can't say I am a fan of that, especially those Christmas albums. ( although they are not bad, just not for me) The fact he's working on a BLUES album of all things kinda worries me...
Why not just give us that BLACK METAL album that he teased. I for one, would LOVE that kind musical exploration from him, especially with what he can still do with his voice. Or maybe another FIGHT album ( just a girl with a dream..)
BUT HEY, he's the METAL GOD, and owes nothing to no one, just hoped for the years to come, that he doesn't waist his voice on project like a BLUES or another Christmas album.
I was thinking that it looked like some sort of bat-like humanoid with sharp claws. Like what people that become wendigos but with large bat ears, short black hair, and flattened noses.
I was just wondering what others thought the nightcrawler looked like. From listening to the song and using some imagination, I assumed it looked like some sort of humanoid with sharp fingernails and probably bat-like features like short hair and large ears with
It was really good, possibly even better than the first one. He recorded it with family and friends rather than any of his bands.
There are four of them: Jugulator, 98' Live Meltdown, Demolition, and Live in London. Demolition holds the distinct honor of being the only Priest album with a parental warning label on it. However, you may have only seen or heard the edited version with no profanity and no parental warning. The live albums are very good, IMO, a big complaint with the Ripper albums that I've heard is that they're different. Not the case with the live albums. They're just Priest albums without Rob. Jugulator is thrash metal and Demolition is basically heavier metal. Not bad, IMO, just different.
Thank you in advance.
...that is, I think it's Chinese. Whatever it is, it's not a language that I can read. After ripping the CD I had to manually edit all the song titles to English.
