The Doors were an American rock band formed in 1965 in Los Angeles, California, with vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, drummer John Densmore and guitarist Robby Krieger. The band took its name from Aldous Huxley's book The Doors of Perception, the title of which was a reference to a William Blake quotation: "If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, infinite."

I found the song When the musics over live at the Hollywood bowl 68" version, I cannot get the song out of my mind I knew love me two times and people are strange from the Strange Days album but I family went a walk today and listened to it in full.. All I can say is it is masterpiece and I am so glad I listened to the full album.
Random side note, I love how he is also a poet as I love writing poetry, I think I'll look for some of his poems tomorrow.
Listening to their music is just as exhilarating as taking drugs!
Ray is a rare musical genius
Hi everyone, anyone knows from where instrumental only version of The End from the scene on the desert comes from?
I just heard that Morrison was an avid reader, I was thinking about getting some of the books that Morrison read just for fun. Please let me know.
I have more work on my site, check my profile out if you care.

Do you have songs you like better than others? Jim: "I tell you the truth, I don’t listen to the stuff much. There are songs I enjoy doing more in person than others. I like singing blues — these free, long blues trips where there’s no specific beginning or end. It just gets into a groove and I can just keep making up things. And everybody’s soloing. I like that kind of song rather than just a song. You know, just starting on a blues and just seeing where it takes us."

I grew up on a farm in Ontario that had a barn with about 10,000 chickens. You can imagine how loud it was in that barn with all the constant clucking and flapping. My job every morning before school and every afternoon when I got home from school was to collect eggs. The eggs would roll onto a conveyor belt that I was able to switch on, and all the eggs would come to me at the front end of the barn.
I'm a huge rock fan, and ALWAYS had my stereo pumping in the front of the barn while I collected eggs.
Well, one morning, "Light My Fire" comes on. Once it reached Ray's extended keyboard solo in the middle of the song, the strangest thing happened that made the hair on my arms stand straight up. The entire barn of 10,000 chickens went COMPLETELY silent. In 10 years of collecting eggs in this barn, I had never witnessed anything like it.
I never mentioned anything to my family because they would just think I was nuts.... but then my dad mentioned in passing a few years later that "Light My Fire" came on the radio one time and the barn went silent! I was completely blown away...
Apparently The Doors are mesmerizing to livestock as well as humans!
I got introduced to the Doors last year (I’m 17) when I watched Apocalypse Now.
Thought this was funny! Not sure if it has been posted here yet.
I guess you can say this is sorta Doors related was curious to know if anyone knows what sort of shirt the gentleman in the video was wearing. Looks like a nice beach shirt for the summer !
This is a shot in the dark, but in my area, Western Massachusetts, Northern Connecticut we have a ton of Pink Floyd tributes and Grateful Dead, but not a lot of Doors.
I’m a singer, is there anyone in this particular area interested in starting a Doors tribute band? I was also thinking it could double as a blues band that plays standard blues songs too.
Anyone? Anyone?
just realised that Jim was almost the same age as Paul Mac... born in 43 a year after Paul . both born during the 2nd world war

Me and u/markI92d found these pictures online and we've never seen them before. He's holding his grandchildren, who refer to him as grand papa. (press to see pictures)
It was around this time when he switched to the Gibson, and he doesn’t seem to use the Vox in any songs on Waiting For The Sun, except it sounds like he used one on this one song.
