With Doom Metal at its roots, Gothic Metal is defined by dark, depressed, passionate, and romantic themes, often incorporating Romantic Era musical elements. At its best, Gothic Metal combines the aggression and ponderous feeling of Doom Metal with the melodramatic imagery and musical style of Gothic Rock.

Fantastic night in Bournemouth last Friday, first time we've seen Lacuna Coil live and we weren't disappointed! Such energy, great music and amazing stage presence. Can't wait to see them again on the next tour. Anyone else seen them, and what did you think?

Such an underrated band in gothic metal🖤
I love this band, does anyone else know it?
Hi :-) I was scrolling through a random playlist by Spotify and saw one band called “Thine”. I never heard of it and they only have 144 monthly listeners..
in the description it says that they are a goth metal band, so i decided to ask here.(the are more genres listed in last fm and such)
I have only listened to their 2002 album “in therapy” and I really like it.
Have you heard of this band? What do you think of it?
Hi, everybody!
I have some time thinking about asking about this, so here it is!
It is about one of my fav. bands, it is called NUDE, and they are from Italy. One of the best bands I've heard. *_* And that I'm fond of. So much nostalgia too.
They are an old band. I was a young woman when I first heard them.
Here is the link to their * splendid album * called 'Cities and faces' of year 2001. (In 2001 I was nineteen years old).

A band with a very nice electro sound, as they incorporate much of synthpop or more in particular maybe: futurepop.
(After knowing NUDE, a few years later I began to listen and appreciate futurepop, synthpop, electropop, EBM, etc., and those types of electro music are one of my fav. music genres -after Metal-).
Amazing rhythm, amazing and strong melodies and guitars, very nice vocals, relatable lyrics... (Personally, I think there is only one line in one song, that I'm not very comfortable with, however, for the most part, I think they have very good and relatable lyrics -for me, at least-).
In "bandcamp.com" I found the following description:
"NUDE's music is a great mix of New Wave, Indie Rock and razor-sharp guitarplay in Gothic Metal style everything combined with the right dose of electronic elements for what we call Indie Electro Gothic.
This is music of high class with an excellent and charismatic singer, powerful structures and an overall strong production with songs that have the absolute potential to become real chart breaker."

As far as I know, the "Encyclopaedia Metallum" didn't consider them as Metal.
However I think they are Metal, or they could be classfied / labeled perhaps as: Gothic Metal / Rock.
And more in particular:
Gothic Industrial-ish Metal / Rock, or Gothic Synth Future Metal / Rock ... something like that?
Electro Gothic Metal.
I would like to know your opinions?
In my opinion, Metal or not, they are an excellent band with a very interesting, unique and splendid sound.
They really were able to pull that off, combining Electro and Metal / Rock.
What do you think about the italian band called NUDE?
Do you think they could be classfied / labeled as Gothic Metal?
Yes? No? and why?
Thank you!
(and sorry for bad english)
Best regards
from Guadalajara, Jalisco, México!
P.S. My CD collection is very small, however I'm glad and thankful that 'Cities and faces' is part of my small collection!
EDIT.
Maybe: "Electro Gothic Metal / Rock", or "Rock / Metal" Rock-Metal...
And they have Darkwave / New wave influence, of course (definitely).
Hi, everybody!
"The one I love" by R. E. M. is a song I like since many years ago. And I would like very much to hear a Metal cover.
To me, that is one of the songs I think would be even more awesome in Gothic Metal version, one of the songs that (in my opinion) are very suitable for Gothic Metal sound.
Some time ago (I think about two years ago or so?) I found a Metal cover that I like very much:

*__*
It seems the name of the band is BARB IN HELL?
(I think they are very talented and have much potential! I would definitely like to hear more from them. More songs / cover with the sound of this one!).
I think it even sounds a little (or quite) Gothic Metal already *__*, what do you think? The voice / vocal style is not very "Gothic Metal" maybe? However I think it is an excellent cover, either way.
I would like so much to hear a Gothic Metal version of this song...
Maybe by my fav. Gothic Metal band, DARKSEED (with Stefan in the vocals) ?
Or also a band like the early BESEECH (with man and woman vocals)?
What do you think?
Thank you! (and sorry for bad english)
Best regards

This is a cover that I've made from the demo version of the song "Christian Woman" from the band "Type O Negative". Their music helped me a lot and this is some kind of paying tribute.
Ravenlore is an ai symphonic gothic metal band that emerged as a tribute to the genre’s pioneers and to rekindle the dark beauty and power of the style. Drawing inspiration from bands like Tristania, Theatre of Tragedy, After Forever, Therion, Dimmu Borgir, and Sirenia, Ravenlore blends heavy riffs, orchestral arrangements, and haunting atmospheres.
Their self-titled debut album, released in 2024, pays homage to these influences, creating a modern, yet nostalgic journey through the realms of mysticism and inner turmoil. With every song, Ravenlore revives the essence of symphonic gothic metal, delivering a sound that is both grand and shadowed with melancholy.

As well as metal music I'm also really into gothic rock and darkwave - I've been searching everywhere for metal bands that incorporate the darkwave synth sound into their music but all I find is the usual gothic metal or heavy vaporwave.
Any recommendations?
