suck it, dinkleberg
Greetings and welcome to /r/mathrock! Wikipedia would say it's a rhythmically complex, guitar-based style of experimental rock that emerged in the late 1980s characterized by complex, atypical rhythmic structures (including irregular stopping and starting), angular melodies, and dissonant chords. That's a pretty robotic definition of it but if you're not familiar with the genre, listen to a few of the songs posted or check out the playlists below. Enjoy!

hey all,
over the past year i've gone down the math rabbit hole for the first time after getting overly obsessed with the UK band blakfish, and since then, i've become equally obsessed with the bigger names of that era's UK scene with bands like tubelord, colour, ttng, and tangled hair.
i really enjoy the dancier stuff (tubelord), the drum heavy/chop-based stuff (colour/tangled hair (james trood is one of my new favorite drummers of all time)), and the stuff with a heavier focus on vocals (ttng). i'm looking for bands similar to these, whether they're from the same scene or not. thanks!
Hey everyone. I was wondering if any of you know of mathy interpretations of Christmas songs?
A fresh band, that I’m not sure everyone knows about.
This song seems to be really scratching my brain at the moment. Be sure to give it a listen.

I just had to share this here in case any of you hadn’t seen it!! Deserves way more love, I watch it at least fortnightly
I've heard the two words thrown around, sometimes, mainly referring to the guitar, but I have no clue what they are supposed to mean. Is angular and jagged referring to the same thing? Can you give me some examples so that I can hear what it sounds like?
This is huge
i cant find it anywhere listed online and the bottom left design looks so good
