Are there any live versions of War Pigs that end similar to the record?
Just wondering if we can expect anything new from him any time. I’m sure he’s said previously that he’s still writing riffs. He’s put out music for the aftershave collaboration, and on Patient No.9. Any hint that we might get a new project from him?
I've noticed that After Forever has been credited to Tony Iommi even though geezer wrote the lyrics I just want to know why
New Sabbath listener here, I’ve stuck with the earlier records like Paranoid, Master, V4, and Bloody Sabbath. Just listened to Heaven and Hell… by God. I like Ozzy, but Dio has some serious pipes. He could’ve been mainstream with a voice like that. Will definitely be giving his band a listen. What are some of his other good Sabbath albums? I need to hear more.

Since this year we've only had the reissues of the albums with Tony Martin (FINALLY), we already know of an album that could be re-released very soon.
"Born Again" could be the next re-release more than assured, although I have my doubts. Since that album will be remixed, I don't know if it will only be re-released in its remixed version (same case with "Forbidden"), or if it will be re-released in its super deluxe edition with its original mix and unreleased material.
In any case, which album would you like to see re-released with that edition?
Story Time:
The first time I heard the original Black Sabbath album I was a teenager in the 2000's (I'm in my late 30's now). I was on vacation in Florida at my grandparent's, and was reading Sound of the Beast by Ian Christe, which inspired me to check it out.
I bought the CD of the album at a Barnes and Noble and played it in the living room. My first thought, and one I maintain to this day, is that the rain at the beginning of the title track was actually fire crackling. I know there is thunder, but in my head that is the sound of a village burning, like Sephiroth burning Nibelheim in Final Fantasy 7 (for all you sweaty nerds out there). I still picture that burning village whenever I play the record.
For years I didn't see what the big deal was. Ozzy stuck out to me because my first reaction was it didn't sound like him. To my ears Ozzy's vocals are more baritone than on every other record he's done. NIB was cool, but it was buried in a pointless medley of other tracks that made it difficult to access. The whole thing just didn't sound all that interesting to me.
Years go by. Sabbath becomes one of my peak favorite bands. I return to the record periodically and find new things I like. Bill's drumming sticks out, it might be my favorite drumming performance over the course of any full album, ever, he might be the MVP of the whole album. The Wizard might have my favorite drumming on any song by any group. Tony's soloing, with the exception of the later song Heaven and Hell, might be his best ever, too.
Today I fucking love this record. Black Sabbath has a firm place in my top 5 for the band, and I consider it one of the best debuts ever. It's also really an era of its own: none of the other records, even in the original 3-4, have this jazzy, open ended, free-form feel. Its an era in and of itself. And I love it.
For good measure my current top 6: (the ones I listen to all through consistently)
Edits: grammar and bullet point functionality, because the Reddit app is weird.
I've recently got all the black Sabbath vinyls reissued in 1976, does anyone have any information about them? (E.g how rare they are, how valuable they are)
Is there any hope of a reissue of idol being reissued in the future? i bought an original pressing of headless cross i found in the wild about a year ago then having the box set coming out this year. Should i just bite the bullet and buy copy or hold out and pray?
I don't know much about black sabbath because I mostly only listened to the ian gillian/dio versions, and was actually surprised listening to "Megalomania".
I'm now checking out the whole album, I wonder if there are specific songs like that that kinda sound like zeppelin.
Among the many unique talents that set Black Sabbath apart from other early metal bands was their incredible ability to swing. You can hear it most distinctly on tracks like "Fairies Wear Boots," where the groove feels like it could leap genres with ease.
This got me thinking: What if Paranoid, their iconic album, had been conceived in the 1940s instead of the 1970s? Not only could their swing translate beautifully into a big band sound, but Geezer Butler's poetic lyrics—often overshadowed by the sheer power of the music—could shine in a new light, showing a depth and lyricism absent in so much of popular music, then and now.
So, I gave it a shot. Here's my AI-generated mashup of Paranoid, reimagined in the style of 1940s big band swing. It's a playful homage to their genius and a little proof that Sabbath's magic transcends genres.

Let me know what you think—and whether Geezer might've made a great lyricist for Sinatra back in the day! https://youtu.be/FpoVU7nSlpQ
