A subreddit for fans of the Blue Öyster Cult, which did for American heavy metal what Black Sabbath did for British metal. On tour forever, and they still kick ass. If you're a fan, or you're just curious, here's a place to kick out the jams.

I want to take a deeper dive into BOC. For reference, I LOVE “Then Came the Last Days of May” and “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper”. I don’t like “Godzilla” really. I’m more of a chill music guy but who doesn’t like to rock out!? Give me your thoughts!
Just watched "Cross" on Amazon and was excited to hear "Don't Fear the Reaper" featured on one episode. It was a remake of the song, but still...nice to see!😁💙
favorite member? The one I like the most is Mr. Allen Lanier. I know it's a very unpopular position but his use of keyboards and synthesizers is what I enjoy most about böc's songs.
I like how Patterson Hood referenced BÖC as a major influence on the sound of this album. Most apparent on Easy On Yourself - very Don't Fear The Reaper. BÖC deserve more hat tips.
Anyone else got love for this album?
I know that they were in a time with les zeppelin and queen, but was there another reason why they weren't as popular? Blue oyster cult was consistently making good songs, with only a few mediocre songs (which are still pretty good). Why didn't they become as famous as they should have been?
Just wrote a Christmas carol about Plutonia. Not Imaginos or Desdinova, but the common folk. I figured it takes more than a king to make a kingdom.
Why isn't Böc very famous? I know that the band was relatively successful, but not like many other bands that were much more popular (the clash). What do you think this is due to? For me, even though they are very good, in concept and aesthetics they were never intended to be massive.
top 10 bands not including böc. I would like to know the musical tastes of Böc fans, since for example I got to know the band through suggestions of other music I listened to. Maybe we can discover new music like this.

Anybody else see Joe on this tour? I attended the show in Largo, FL and while it was cool to see the man in action, I was a bit disappointed.
Is it just his ego that keeps him from hiring a lead guitarist that can actually play the songs and playing rhythm or bass himself? He played his songs well but really struggled through a lot of the BOC stuff and it was just not super enjoyable, sadly.
I didn’t regret going but if he comes around again I’ll probably skip it.
After listening to the mythos of Imaginos, I know what im going as next years Halloween!
I listened through all the albums and so far these are my top 10 songs: I won’t include radio favorites like don’t fear the reaper or burning for you, just to make the list more interesting (even though I love those songs)
3.Nosferatu 4. I love the Night 5. Cities on Flame with R 6. She’s as beautiful as a foot 7. Celestial The Queen 8. In Thee 9. Don’t Turn Your Back 10. Shooting Shark
I'm crazy. I know. It's calming... For me..... Somehow.
Look who commented on my vid
Hey all, Just wanted to share my cover if "In Thee". Hope you enjoy it, please leave a like or comment if you do! 😎
Does anyone know of any video guitar tutorials for BÖC tunes other than the big three hits (Reaper, Godzilla & Burnin' for You)?
I'm just a bedroom guitarist and I thought it be fun to work on my favorite band's tunes - preferably the black and white era
Or am I stupid? Wikipedia says that all of the albums have the Symbol on it, but I can't find the one on CE.
I’m making an art piece inspired by Astronomy and sort of stuck on this. If you’ve ever imagined it as a physical place, what does it look like? What does the surrounding environment look like?
Opinions of fans and experts on Albert Bouchard's drums? For me it is an excellent accompaniment in general, it adapts perfectly to the style of the group. I also feel that there are moments that stand out a lot and I feel that he has very great tempo control and ability to transmit.
Only about two weeks into bass
