Hi all,
I have recently been really getting into the symphonic/neoclassical metal genre. It has been a hell of discovery, I feel like I've really found a genre that speaks to me. To that end, I am still new enough not to be fully acquainted with the full gamut of bands out there. If anyone knows of some upcoming symphonic metal gigs in the UK in the future, please let me know - I can't wait to listen to some symphonic metal live, indeed, my first metal gig of any type!
Thank you in advance
Mechina has released their new single. It looks like their previous male vocalist, David Holch, has been replaced by David Lowmiller from A Dark Halo.
There’s been a recurring criticism that Mechina has become very formulaic over the years, and even with a vocalist change, this still feels like a continuation of that formula.
I know it’s not one of the bigger hits from Pirates but my god, it’s a true magnum opus by Visions of Atlantis. Got everything you could want - great head banging, change of pace breaks, and the ultimate pump-you-up chorus.
EDIT: They just announced tour dates for North America again in 2025!
I love symphonic metal.
But their sound is soft and not aggressive. Epica has unclean vocals but I'm not satisfied. I want something more aggressive.
So I looked up symphonic black bands but most of their songs only use a organ. Like Sirius and Vargrav's second album. I hate those songs.
There is a lack of using various orchestral instruments.
Let me know the extreme symphonic metal bands using various orchestral instruments.
I don't care if the orchestra instruments are virtual or real.
Thank you guys!
To celebrate today's news, here's Angel's cover of Energize Me. I think she did a fantastic job and can hold her own.

Is there any other baritone or tenor on symphonic metal?
New song release by Amaranthe. Definitely their own take on the original song.
Hello! English is not my native language, so I am asking for your help. And I apologize in advance for any mistakes in my post. I really like the band Edenbridge and I'm trying to translate the song "As far as eyes can see".
Here's the chorus:
I am the storm and lash the sea
That's wrapping up in mystery
Within living memory
In rain or shine
In playgrounds so divine
I am the pylon in the dark
The guardian of the arc
Within a velvety reverie
As far as eyes can see
I'm stuck on the line "The guardian of the arc" and have been struggling with it for days.
Please explain what we are talking about here? Google persistently suggests “The guardian of the ark”, but on the Edenbridge website it says exactly that – “the guardian of the arc”.
In addition, the exact same line is in the song “The Bonding”, and it also says arc. I don't think this is a mistake."
