I'm listening to Love Beach for the first time right now and (cover aside which is hilarious), I'm loving every single song. But I realized that part of the reason I like it so much is because of how it sounds, it feels so much full and alive than the previous albums until Works. It just feels that theres a huge gap between the drums and the keyboards than it can't be fulfilled with only bass (or more keyboards).
Coincidentally, the only classic record which I don't feel this way of is the one that has a song dedicated to it's sound engineer.
Giger 3rd from left, Sinfield 4th. Looking at artwork for Brain Salad Surgery in Giger’s studio in Switzerland.
Ok so basically at Tuesday (12) I was doing my daily walk in a square next to my house. Around the 4th lap I heard a... Familiar sound. I was not sure if it was what I thought it was until I stopped walking. At the other side of the square, a man that looked in his 40/50s, wearing a black shirt and a Dark short, listening to Keith Emerson blasting his synths in Stone of Years. I shouted "TARKUS!" to try to catch the attention of the fellow prog rocker, on which I failed. He prob didnt heard me, but I heard him. To this day, this misterious man always pop on my mind, listening to one of the best songs of all time.

i mean both in the choruses and solo parts, i dont recognize this voice and it cant be greg nor keith or carl right?
Also whats the origin of this ballad, if anyone knows. Never heard of it, not even as a mention.
Thanks!
I'm tired of Spotify splitting the song into impressions (especially the first one). I haven't been able to find the full track in high quality. If anyone could share it I'll appreciate it a ton!
Edit: "Be the change you want to see in the world." - Gandhi. I ended up putting it together myself, here it is.
I also did the same to other famously "separated at birth" suites:
Disney - Genesis Working title for "Dancing With the Moonlit Knight" which was originally supposed to segue into "The Cinema Show", with "Aisle of Plenty" serving as the closer.
The Story of Albert - Genesis Also the working title (and played live under that name) of a suite on Duke that was planned to take up one of the sides of the album, but was eventually split up to (like the previous case) avoid comparisons with "Supper's Ready".
In The Dead Of Night - U.K. For some reason no streaming service considers that the first three songs from the album are part of the same piece, even though the liner notes say so.
Thick as a Brick - Jethro Tull Parts I and II combined. Similar to KE9, the split was due to time restrictions (each part takes up a whole side).
My dog died last night and I listened to BSS over and over until I felt normal again
Today he would be turning 77 if not for the big c...
Happy birthday, Keith!!!

A one minute short, entitled "Snatch a Stone," 😆.
Link to the full video is included.
Question. This may or may not be enough to go on but here goes. In Fanfare for the Common Man, Keith often plays a part of a classical piece I'm looking for the name of. All I can say is it's something you often hear associated with like Halloween or in a scene where someone's in a spooky looking room in a haunted mansion. Sometimes with a creepy looking guy playing the organ.
The one version I specifically recall Keith playing it on is the Then and Now version of Common Man. If you happen to know the piece I'm talking about I'd appreciate the info.
Ok let’s settle this y’all. Tarkus or Karn Evil 9?
I’m going with KE9 because it had that “wow” effect that Tarkus didn’t have for me. It also incorporates synths and has much better guitar work. But let’s hear some other opinions.
I just got In Concert 79 and looking to know what you guys think of Pictures, Welcome Back and In Concert.

Wayne riffs on the third studio album by Emerson, Lake & Palmer entitled “Trilogy” from August 1972 (Fugue / From the Beginning / The Sheriff / Hoedown). ENTERTAINMENT TRACK: Main theme from the motion picture “Super Fly” STAFF PICKS: “Best Thing” by Styx — Bruce. “Rock and Roll, part 2'” by Gary Glitter — Rob. “Brandy (You're A Fine Girl)” by Looking Glass — Lynch. “Will it Go Round In Circles” by Billy Preston — Wayne. INSTRUMENTAL TRACK: “Walk in the Night” by Junior Walker & the All Stars..
This song is way more epic than I expected, and it just teases to become a parody of itself, but it fortunately doesn't. Definitely not something I would expect ELP to do though (it rather reminds me of... Iron Maiden?), still a great closer to Works Vol. 1.
I love all of Emerson's piano parts and was wondering what would be the best to learn to improve my skills as an intermediate piano player (the most complicated thing I can play atm is "firth of fifth" by genesis)
Pls
Hello! Im a new elp fan and there are some things im discovering about the lore. What im the most curious about is the car race. Like whats the context? Why did they do a race and why did the elp members participate? Did others artists/bands participate too? When and where this event happend? Thats it for now, thanks!
Tarkus, Karn Evil 9, Pirates, Piano Concerto No. 1, Memoirs of an Officer and a Gentlemen don’t exist
I am almost sure that’s Brain Salad Surgery’s cover slightly altered. (This movie released in 1977, so is very much possible)
I am aware of the Dr. Pepper commercial from 2008~, The Simpsons episode, and Karn Evil 9 1st Impression Pt. 2 playing at the beginning of an episode of That 70s Show. Do we know any other pieces of media where ELP was played or mentioned? (I’d love to make a list as a community)
the multilayered crescendo reminds me a lot of The Devil's Triangle from KC, for example
really wish abbadon had mellotron, it would sound way more epic
