Hi there! I'm a queer college student doing an anthropological research project. I really need some data and it would help me immensely if you were willing to contribute.
Here are a few key things I'm interested in:
Your coming out experience. Was it good, bad? Were you taken seriously? Were you cursed out?
Any discrimination you've faced for being queer. This can be anything from actual threats of violence to sexualization against your consent. I actually am especially interested in the smaller, less noticeable ways you may have been discriminated against, micro aggressions, disgusted looks, anything like that. And if you've never been discriminated against, I want to hear that too!
Do you/Did you ever hide your sexuality in any way? Either from extended family, friends or coworkers.
Do people ever not believe you when you say you're queer? Do they invalidate your experience in any way? Say that you just haven't found the right girl/guy, etc.
Have you ever feared you would be the victim of a hate crime/been the victim of a hate crime? You don't have to give me direct details if you're not comfortable.
Thank you very much for the help!

Would you like to contribute to breaking down research disparity between LGBT+ and heterosexual populations?
Hi, I'm conducting research at Monash University on how personality and occupational status can impact desirability in LGBT relationships. Much of the research conducted on partner preferences and its association with evolution have focused on heterosexual relationships. We're trying to change that! Specifically, we're looking at bisexual individuals - a population unfortunately often overlooked by researchers.
If you're over 18 and part of the LGBT+ community, we would love to have you participate in our study.
This survey takes only 5-10 minutes, is completely anonymous and you have the opportunity to enter into a draw to win one of four $50 gift cards.

Hi there,
I am a queer faculty member at John Jay College, currently conducting a study to explore and examine power, control, and unhealthy relationship dynamics in the LGB+** community.
Power, control, and unhealthy relationship dynamics among LGB+ individuals are generally assessed via standardized scales, which were developed on and for cis-het populations. Using these existing measures in LGB+ communities does help focus our attention on the issue. However, the use of these scales may narrow our attention to certain types of control and abuse—most common in heterosexual relationships—and we risk reproducing a heteronormative understanding of victimization and perpetration.
This leaves the actual experiences of our community invisible and ignored. The current project therefore aims to address the need for a more nuanced understanding of the lived experience of the LGB+ community.
The survey is completely confidential and will take approximately 15-20 minutes. Those who are LGB+, living in the US, and ages 18-65 are eligible to participate. You can also access the survey by clicking this link: https://gccunyep.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_20iIsNv3xjhkVzE
With gratitude and in solidarity!
**The researcher acknowledges that some may perceive the use of LGB+ as excluding trans individuals. However, it's important to note that this is not the intention of the study. In contrast, this differentiation is to honor the reality that TGNB folx experience unique forms and rates of violence. The next phase of this research will be focusing solely on trans and non-binary people.

A passerby on the street randomly said Iooked familiar. I thought nothing of it and said I could just have one of those faces. I realized after the fact that the gentleman could have seen my grindr profile. Are there any phrases or code that people use to efficetively tell someone "hey, I saw you on a hook up app but I don't want to say that as we are in public but I want you to know that I know, you know"
Hello lovely humans! (Mods please delete if not allowed, but I did check the rules, hope this is ok to post).

Thank you so much for reading!
I went trough to this phase where I was watching all sorts of weird stuff. I was questioning my sexuality because I start to often watch trans porn for a few years.
I don't consider myself gay, bisexual, or pansexual. I consider myself straight. I never did anything with trans women in real life. Im not into penises. And I don't have this addiction anymore. After this addiction went away I don't have any attraction towards trans women.
Even as a man who identifies as straight. I still feel weird that I haven't told my girlfriend this yet. Or any woman from past relationships. Because I know a lot of women aren't comfortable dating bisexual men. And I think it doesn't matter if I identify as straight.
Note I'm not religious, I'm an atheist. So im not feeling any shame or denial about my sexuality. But after months of not watching porn. I'm not attracted to trans women. And wouldn't want to do anything sexual with trans women in real life.
Again I don't feel any shame. If I was really into trans women I would be cool with that. But the thing that's bugging me the most is that I'm not really into trans women. I wish I was. Because this would be easier to rationalize.
Does it make me a hypocrite?

Hi everyone! My name is Helena, I am a queer PhD student and researcher at King's College London. I am posting here to let you know about a study being run by myself and the LGBTQ+ Mental Health Research Group at King's College London.
For more information and to register please see this link: https://qualtrics.kcl.ac.uk/jfe/form/SV_5sSMoDFHcAkiPJ4
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for UK based lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual and queer people (16+) who feel that unhelpful beliefs about others negatively impact their lives.
What is the study about?
Psychologists have proposed that holding negative, generalised beliefs about other people (e.g. ‘Other people cannot be trusted’) can lead to the development of common mental health issues like depression and anxiety or make it harder for us to recover. Initial research indicates that as LGBTQ+ people, we may be more likely to hold negative beliefs about others than heterosexual, cisgender people. Our more negative beliefs about others may relate to our LGBTQ+ experiences such as discrimination, stigma and prejudice, or having to conceal our identities. Our team have developed a six-week intervention we hope will help lesbian, gay, bisexual and queer people to address their negative beliefs about other people and strengthen and develop more helpful beliefs about others. We hope that this will in turn have a positive impact on wellbeing (e.g. self-esteem) and daily life (e.g. relationships with other people).
What will happen if I choose to take part?
If you are interested, we will ask you to complete a short online questionnaire to check the study is suitable for you and to register your interest. The researcher will then arrange a time to talk to you on the phone. If you choose to take part in the project, you will be offered six weekly one hour sessions of 1:1 therapy either face-to-face at King’s College London or remotely online. Therapy will be done with a queer third-year PhD student in Psychology who has experience working with LGBTQ+ people with mental health difficulties. The intervention uses techniques from cognitive behavioural therapy and compassionate focused therapy. During the six weeks we will ask you to complete questionnaires about your beliefs about others and your mental wellbeing. Two months after your last session, we will ask you to complete those questionnaires again and invite you to share feedback about your experience of the intervention. Participation will be kept confidential and anonymous, and it will not be possible to identify you from any write-up. This study has been ethically approved by the Health Faculties Research Ethics Subcommittee at KCL (HR/DP-23/24-39684) and is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council.

My boyfriend and I have an amazing relationship and he is literally everything I wanted in a man and treats me like his entire world. so imagine my shock when i see the grinder app on his phone one random day. he immediately confesses and says he has a porn addiction and it has been a problem since he was in high school. In terms of the app I guess porn wasn't cutting it for him anymore so he decided to download it and actually message people. He thinks because his face and name and nothing about him is attached to it it's not "real" and is also in the umbrella of his addiction. He says he has massive shame when it comes to the type of porn he watches and as he got older it just became more intense videos and more "taboo" topics and that he's not even sure he really wants that. He said that he had this problem before we were dating as well but stopped when we started and then started back up again when he was depressed and alone on a work trip. He said he's never met up with anyone and never would but i don't know if I can get past this. to me messaging it seems like it's too far. It's not just watching, it's DOING. does anyone have any experience with porn addiction that can tell me if it's an "impulse" and part of his addiction as he only used it to jack off
He is seeking help and is doing everything he can to get me to forgive him but I don't know if I should. I've never been in this situation before. :(
Неу!
