Hello! I’m currently working on my dissertation and have hit a bit of a wall in finding core sources!
I am intending to cover queer lit where the physical transformation of the queer body into something other is central to the plot. So far I have three subcategories/chapter headings:
all of these categories/headings also apply to characters who do not technically transform within the text, as I use the word transformation in a meta context, ex. the transformation of the queer body by the author.
At the moment I am looking primarily for non-contemporary books, or books that are more niche. I am steering away from all genre fiction besides horror, though if you have something that is genre or contemporary, please suggest anyways as once again I have hit a total wall!
I love a heist movie and I think books with ensembles are super fun. Would love to read a queer heist novel. Think Ocean 8 but actually queer, Logan lucky but gay, etc.
I have read Six of Crows and the Gilded Wolves and really enjoyed them. Would ideally like to read a well crafted adult novel instead of YA but I’m open to all suggestions.
Basically the title. I would love if the plot were related to outlaws and such. But doesn't have to be. Weird west is fine too.
Thank you in advance!
Hi everyone! First time posting here, I hope you guys are doing great :-). So I'm trying to read more FF lately, the thing is that I want to read books that have dark topics, as dark as possible, even taboo.
I've been lurking through this and similar subs and made a list of the books that might cater to my craving, here's my TBR so far:
Could you guys please rec other books that fits my request? My only hard no's for this are fantasy genre and instalove or instalust. I'm more into contemporary/modern setting. Other than that, I'm open to absolutely everything, even bad or non conventional HEA/HFN type of ending and any CW. If anyone helps, thank you sooo much in advance!! 🥺
Hey y'all, I'm back again with another reading list! Check out our recs for horror and paranormal novels to check out this Halloween. There's been so much fantastic horror fiction coming out of the transfemme author community this year, so help me spread the love <3

Can anyone recommend any love triangle books where the MC is bi and the LI’s are one male/one female? I haven’t really seen anything like that and I feel like it’s an itch I need scratched.
Preferably a woman, extra points if trans.
DPD as in the Cluster C PD.
Howdy y’all, I’m heading to one of my favorite bookstores tomorrow and would love some recommendations! Some of my favourite recent books are Maurice by E.M. Forster (my fav!), House On The Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune (bit of an outlier, I read some of his other stuff and didn’t love them as much), Our Wives Under The Sea by Julia Armfield (currently reading salt slow, not as enthusiastic about it) Fingersmith (didn’t love the ending but thought the characters were well written and interesting)
I also enjoyed Giovanni’s Room. Have read The Charioteer and didn’t like it as much. For recommendations I’d love some more classics / older ones or ones that take place in a historical setting, though not a must. I prefer a more mature story, not a fan of YA. I’d love to hear about your favs that might fit this criteria! Internalized homophobia/coming to terms with self are interesting to me, but as are confident & joyful stories. NSFW a-ok.
For a more specific request: are there any books that have a fuckton of pining/slowburn? Maybe even childhood friends to eventual lovers. Still contained in one book, though, I’m not looking for a burn so slow it takes several books lol
Whether specific or broader recommendation, thank you in advance!! Can’t wait to hear y’alls suggestions.
Edit: Wild west could also be interesting as a setting!

I would love to add some Hallmarky Christmas books to my TBR...what are some of the best?
does anyone recommend any good sapphic cnc books?
very specific but so sick and tired of these guys just barging into houses uninvited. i need the garlic i need the invite only i need the crucifix i need the stakes to hearts I NEED ACCURATE GAY VAMPIRES. smut or no smut i just need. them. to follow the rules. at the very least please i want the “must be invited in” thing. it’s so funny. please, i need this .
I'm looking for queer romance that involve a single parent romance? Like either the mc or the romantic interest is a single parent. Thanks!
Guys i just went through a mini obsession with salems lot and i kinda of need that but in gay soooo bad. Im a fan if everything Dracula and nosferatu have to offer but i neeeeddddd it in gay. I really like the "dark temptation" vibes so im looking for anything similar(hopefully theres a little romance) but anyone pleaseeee help!! I need a dark romance between two men right neowwww! Lol
I was wondering about anyone's opinion on “all about love” by bell hooks. I want to mature in my understanding of love and relationships (specifically romantic but also in the general connections we form with each other) that would be specifically relevant to me as a lesbian.
I know Bell hooks is black a feminist activist and lesbian, so I'm sure her leftist worldview is likely reflective in her writing, which is something that draws me in, but I'm not sure if this is the exactly right book for what I'm really searching for… i'm a college student with a tight budget so i'd rather not buy a few books that don't end up being super helpful to me😓. (though i am trying to find some time to get a library card and borrow books as an option as well)
I'm neurodivergent and inexperienced with love and I struggle to understand connections and how I should view love. I recently had an experience with someone (we decided it was better to be friends as we both realize neither of us are truly ready to jump into a relationship at the moment) and the experience made me reflect on what/why i was searching for a relationship… if i'm just lonely and touch starved, how do i be a good partner, what even is a partnership and romance supposed to be/look like, and especially how i will know/become ready to actually have a healthy and secure relationship with someone. (I deal with a lot of insecurity due to a lot of negative experiences in the past. lots of people leaving me, and that created a deep shift in my own sense of self value. I think i really deeply crave external validation to undo the external rejection I’ve experienced, I’ve struggled within therapy to try to form “self-love” and value my own view of myself, rather than how others view me/have viewed me in the past, but i've not connected with anything my previous therapist tried (and i'm searching for a new one whos more informed about the ADHD and general neurodivergence experience and treatment strategies) and want to do some personal reflection while im between therapists.
Anyways this might be a bit too hyper specific of a book recommendation😅 (i don’t blame yall if you don’t have any recommendations that fit my request lol), but if you know if “all about love” would be a beneficial read for me? or if you have any books you think i would benefit from checking out, id appreciate it!! :)
(Also im talking about non-fiction specifically, but if there's a fiction book that would be relevantly helpful, im open to it as well! I'm very open to any avenue of exploration for my self growth and development. hell, you can even link me a blog or YouTube video or whatever haha😅)
Tldr: neurodivergent lesbian, searching for books about understanding relationships and romance and how they function healthily. Would “all about love” by bell hooks be a good book for this? Or do you have any recommendations of books that would be suitable for the self-growth/reflection I'm seeking.
Looking for something like Mistakes Were Made.
I'm looking ahead to my 2025 reads and would love some recs.
I'm game to read pretty much anything, as long as it's well written and not YA or younger. BIPOC representation definitely a bonus, but not a necessity.
So please tell me your favourite LGBT+ book of all time, and I'll add it to my list.
I'm looking for a mix of sexuality and gender queerness, so if you can let me know which your rec falls into, that would be v appreciated.
UPDATE - thanks all for the fab suggestions so far. I think I've got enough gay/lesbian+ recs to pull from, but more trans stuff would be great!
Hello! I’m looking for a wlw book that I read ages ago and can’t seem to find anywhere.
It was about a boss and her assistant. The boss used to always keep her door open except for just before she was due to go to a big meeting, then she would close it (to relieve stress). The assistant went to hand her something but the door was slightly ajar and she saw her boss masturbating. She then shut the door and went back to her desk but couldn’t stop thinking about it. The next time the boss shuts her door the assistant walks in and sees that she’s struggling to orgasm so she helps her - they don’t talk at all. This then happens a few more times and each time they get closer e.g they speak and the assistant touches herself at the same time. Then towards the end of the story the boss has to go away on a business trip (Vancouver I think) and she invites the assistant away and the assistant thinks it’s just because she needs to relieve stress before her meeting but the boss is actually starting to fall for her.
I’ve literally wrote down everything I can remember in hopes someone else has read it. I’ve searched ever for this book but just can’t remember what it’s called.
Thank you!!
Hi guys,
I’m the author of You Distract Me on Wattpad. I recently discovered that someone has uploaded my story on Amazon, using my name, without my permission!
This is incredibly frustrating because I’ve put so much time and effort into creating and sharing this story for free on Wattpad, and now someone is trying to profit from my hard work without my consent. I have already self-published the story on Amazon KDP myself, and it's currently free, but this unauthorized version is still out there, confusing readers and potentially harming my reputation.
If the imposter had "accidentally" named their book after mine, named the characters just like mine and used a similar plot, I'd maybe in the craziest of worlds ignored it even if they hadn't credited me, but using MY name is just plain THEFT. The only difference is they used a cover they couldn't replicate with the one on Wattpad, otherwise they did a splendid job of copying my work, word for word, bar for bar. Good job!👏👏🤣
If anyone has dealt with a similar issue or has advice on how to get this taken down, I’d really appreciate your help! I’ve already reached out to Amazon, but I want to spread the word about this unethical behavior.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or support!
Please recommend me your favorite MLM historical novels! I’m especially looking for 20th century - I just read Cat Sebastian We Could Be So Good/You Could Be So Lucky and I loved those. 19th century is great too.
I like pining and happy endings. Historically-appropriate queer angst is fine as long as there’s a happy ending! I don’t mind spice, but please no PWP - I like plot to go along with it, and I’m fine if it’s not there at all.
Something about real queer people in history, or queer people in a real time in history, but still fictional to some extent. Non fiction is also good too if it’s interesting
Hey everyone, I'm currently reading Her Body & Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado and have come across a short story called The Resident. It is set in a hotel far off from any civilization with only a few inhabitants that are all very unique characters. It's got a very dark/woodsy vibe to it and I guess I'm looking for something similar. The only other frame of reference I have is The Honeys by Ryan La Sala but I'm looking for something that leans even more into the fall and mystery vibe and isn't necessarily fantasy. If any books come to mind, I would gladly appreciate a response! Thank you xx
Hey. As the title says, I'm looking for a (spicy?) romance where one of the MC's is autistic. Any recommendations?
Some people say that s*xual assault (S/A) is unnecessary and off putting and will never move a plot forward. In my my debut novel, the 16y.o. protagonist gets S/A's by his teacher, and there's a reason for it (will explain if asked). I also think it's quite blinkered and hypocritical to say that because in SO MANY fantasy novels r*pe of lower class omen and prostitutes aren't even used to forward they're just gratuitously there which I find infinitely worse.
Personally, I think that things exist and if they exist they should be written about I draw the line at GLORIFYING and JUSTIFYING evil. That's why I stopped reading Anne Rice's book. In number 6 she glorified and tried to normalise and romanticise the sexual relation between a very young boy and a thousands of years old man. It was gross so i quit her or good. I can stomach that content as long as it's always portrayed as wrong.
Anyways, I rambled. Sorry.
Would you like to hear your guys' thoughts on this!
Hello! I just read Heated Rivalry by Rachel Reid and loved it, but I couldn't help but think about all those WNBA couples and PWHL couples... there have to be some good lesbian/sapphic/wlw sports romances out there, right?

Looking for adult lesbians (not ya) mystery.
Prefer adults well past college years.
I prefer modern day setting but can go as far back as 1800s. No fantasy. And no monsters. Just want a grounded story where protagonist is a lesbian.
Horror is fine too, but I'd like it to play like a Suspense mystery.
No "the man treated me wrong so I killed men" plot line. Kinda tired of it.
Suggestions?
I work at a school library and there's a 10 year old who recently expressed wanting to use he/him pronouns. I don't think the other teachers know and I am pretty sure he's not out at home, though his school friends all use his correct pronouns very casually and he's definitely safe at school.
He is a reluctant reader and mostly reads comics and football books but I'd love to find him some more books that are suitable for his age, not depressing or focusing on coming out, but just a good exciting kid's book with a trans MC or supporting character. The aim is for him to feel seen and represented without any pressure to come out. Then it would just be another book in the library for the rest of the children to enjoy for the plot.
Are there any comedy/adventure books or graphic novels out there with trans characters where the plot is appropriate for children aged roughly 9-12?
Thank you!!
Hey everyone! 😊
A while back, I started writing You Distract Me on Wattpad, just for the love of storytelling and representation. To my surprise, it took off with almost 4 million reads at the moment, and I’ve had the chance to connect with an amazing community of readers.
Recently, I made the leap to Amazon KDP! The first ten pages have been revised, scenes have been reworked, and I’ve even added more swoon-worthy moments while trimming some of the weaker parts from the original. This feels like an exciting new chapter, especially with the full, revamped version set to release by January 2025.
As a thank-you to all my readers, I’m running a promotion! You Distract Me will be free from October 27, 2024, at 12:00 AM PDT to October 31, 2024, at 11:59 PM PDT. If you’re into wlw romance with real emotional stakes, I’d love for you to check it out. Any feedback or support would mean the world to me!
Has anyone else made the jump from Wattpad to self-publishing? I’d love to hear about your experiences too!
TL;DR: I moved my Wattpad lesbian romance novel, You Distract Me, to Amazon KDP, reworked scenes, added swoon-worthy moments, and cut weaker ones. The full revamped version will be out by January 2025, but it’s free from Oct 27–31, 2024! 😊
