Looking for beta readers for M/M Romance

Hello, everyone :)

I'm not quite sure how to start this :D

I'm a writer, unpublished at this point. I'm writing since I was little, but I've only ever finished one larger project - until I've started a M/M romance. I've already revised a lot to cut down the word count and weed out mistakes. Before I'll make more and more adjustments, I thought it would be a good idea to find beta readers, who can tell me whether it's even working, overall, because I've never written something like this before.

Blurb

Joël Leonard Marlon Anderson has one dream: become the next rockstar of fashion designers. Numerous application letters got him a little closer to achieving this dream. He becomes the assistant of Noah Deere, one of Clark & Walker’s leading fashion designers. As he navigates the challenging business and the perception of himself, Joël gets sucked into his boss’s personality, hidden beneath Deere’s mask of perfectionism.

CW:

Contains sexual situations (M/M), drug use, and references to physical and psychological abuse.

Basically, my inspiration was the first project I've ever finished. Just to keep writing, I've planned a second book, wrote a few scenes with the former MC, and threw in a new character - a gay man that sends the main character's world spinning for a reason he doesn't understand. Creating this character, I've read a lot about the perception of the community at large, particularly gay men in that context, and found some things so striking, and a little sad, that I wanted to confront these views and issues through Joël. I ended up liking the dynamics between the two so much that I opted for picking small aspects of them and make it an entirely new story.

So, I hope this wasn't too confusing :D I'm kinda... excited. If you're interested in helping out with plot, pacing, language (English isn't my first), or anything else that comes to your mind :D I'm happy about any feedback :)

Just message me here or via DM. Thanks :)

Transgender Romance ARC Team

Hi! I'm publishing my first novel soon, and I'm looking for people to join my ARC team. The novel is a hockey romance featuring a transgender woman and a male hockey player.

If you're interested—or know someone who might be—here's a link to my signup form: https://forms.gle/NQxyJzBCixf5hxxF9

The Book Blurb:

It's just my bad luck to have the world's hottest next-door neighbor. A neighbor who happens to be the star goalie for the Salt Lake City Sting. Even worse? I'm stuck with him all season.

When I left for college ten years ago, I swore I would never come back. Why would I after everything that happened? But here I am, back in the same city and the same house. And it's filled with the same bad memories.

Now, I have to face them without the one person who promised they would always be there for me. The empty house is just a reminder that I'm on my own.

But I'm so much stronger than I was back then. And I only have to make it through one year. What's the worst that could happen?

Brant Morrison throwing himself in front of me like he's taking an assassin's bullet. That's what.

I have everything under control until he stomps into my life. With those eyebrows of his. And those abs. There's no way abs like that are legal in Utah.

Then, because every dark night can always get a little darker, I find out he's the goalie for the Sting. The same team that hired me as their new assistant athletic trainer. Now I'm stuck with him for the season.

It's just one year. Then I can go back to the life I've been building for myself. There's no room for Brant Morrison in that life. And there's certainly no room for the feelings he brings out in me. Feelings that make my skin so warm I'm staying away from dry brush, just in case.

Maybe this year will be more difficult than I thought.

Home Ice is a spicy, funny, sometimes angsty, standalone professional hockey romance featuring a transgender heroine and her way-too-hot, cinnamon roll hockey goalie neighbor.

If it sounds like something you're interested in, just fill out my quick form please! https://forms.gle/NQxyJzBCixf5hxxF9

And if you have any questions, let me know!

Darkly Spicy & Enby and/or Poly Romance/Erotic Novels

Looking for darkly spicy queer romances that have a poly dynamic and/or non-binary main characters. Fantasy ok, sci-fi ok, historical often ok but meh on 19th century personally.

Examples: Freydis Moon's Heart Haunt Havoc and With A Vengeance; Page Turner's Psychic State books (though they aren't so spicy); Kit Rocha's Consort of Fire and the queerer/poly installments of the Beyond series; Fae Quin's Spooky Boys series is neither poly nor enby but fits the feel.

Sapphic romance

Can anyone suggest something EITHER:

  • Like Heartstopper, but a written novel (or I guess it could be a graphic novel, but written novel is probably slightly preferred) but with WLM rather than MLM.

OR

  • A romantasy (high fantasy preferred but low fantasy is also fine) with WLW

Also, the age rating doesn’t really matter to me. Can be YA, NA or Adult.

I’d prefer something that isn’t super long (looking at you, “The Priory Of The Orange Tree”. I haven’t read it, but I’ve heard it’s incredibly long)

Thanks in advance!

Bi/wlw historical, romance, fantasy

Looking for historical romance or historical with some fantasy elements featuring bi women or wlw. Authors I love already: Lex Croucher, KJ Charles, Cat Sebastian, Freya Marske, Nghi Vo, and Alexis Hall. Specifically I'm interested in Victorian or Edwardian eras and if it's fantasy I like it to be sort of based in our world (no Fourth Wing, please).

Cowgirl Romance

I know that the whole cowboy romance is a pretty fleshed out subgenre/niche in hetero romance books, and even achillean books. But I've only seen one or two sapphic cowgirl romance books. I'm rereading Two of a Kind by T.B. Markinson and Miranda MacLeod. That's the only one I can think of at the moment. If you know any more please share them with me.

ISO: A couple are separated physically (for whatever reason) and a third person acts as a go-between for them.

I have a rather specific trope that I'm looking for, after reading a fanfic with the same premise. Basically, a couple are separated physically (for whatever reason) and a third person acts as a go-between for them to express their affections. Preferably all three are in love by the end. Is this a thing?? Looking for anything in the ballpark, really. High steam is a plus.

Any takers for a spicy sapphic vampire romance..?

Hello lovely readers! I'm an indie author launching a kickstarter to bring a sapphic vampire romance to life. The original Carmilla was published in 1870s and quite obviously written for the old timey's male gaze (female sexuality/lesbianism is hot but evil and needs to be exorcized, yada yada). I thought it would be fun to write a Carmilla retelling for the female gaze while staying true-ish to the original. I say true-ish because there IS smut (ya kyow, making love with your vampire gf under the moonlight in a lush orchard type of thing).
If you're interested, here's the link to the kickstarter—along with some secret snippets from the book:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/carmilla/carmilla-a-sapphic-vampire-romance-novella

Do give this campaign a share, especially with fellow reader friends who enjoy lush gothic settings, queer characters, WLW books, and dark romance. We have less than 3 weeks left and 30% funded atm. The more backers we have, the closer we get to making this book a reality! Happy Reading!!

Looking for a book

Hey all! This may be oddly specific but I'm looking for a novel. Preferably a gender queen amab person wakes up in a female body. I'm looking for acceptance of oneself as one of the themes. Also this is a big request, preferably no erotica. That's not what I'm looking to get out of the book. Thank you and have a lovely day.

Free ARC Asexual Lesbian Romance

My new book, When Summer Meets Autumn, is currently on Book Sirens for readers. It is free to read and you have 30 days to finish the book.

Link to sign up: https://booksirens.com/book/UM6V04I/FRJLAUL

Blurb:

Autumn Blackwell is Hollywood’s new It girl who is surviving the hustle and bustle by staying true to herself and not giving in to the pressure to sleep her way to the top. As an asexual, she's always felt like an outcast, and that doubles with the pressures of stardom. With award season coming up, and her last breakup on everyone’s minds, she knows she needs a plus one who she won’t have to worry about falling for.

Summer Evans is an academic who enjoys her studies and would rather be working on her research than attending stuffy Hollywood events. When she loses a bet and is signed up for a seat-filling service to be a desperate actress or actor’s plus one, it puts her on a crash course to meet Autumn. One awards show turns into two, then three… Is she falling for Autumn? Or is this just an arrangement of convenience?

Looking for Adult MLM Based in Reality

Looking for Adult MLM (not really Y.A. but I'm open) in reality (not fantasy). I don't need or want the book to be all about Romance. Something along of the My Cat Yugoslavia or What Belongs to You. I've read Swimming in the Dark. Ocean Vuongs novel. I read Cerulean Sea. I just finished Aristotle and Dante as well as You Exist too much. I've also read Song of Achiles. I like deep characters where they are attempting to figure something out. I am open to books that are translated into English although I fear I have read most of them. (Sorry for spelling english is my second language). Thank you!

Looking for wlw book recs with magical realism

I recently read 'One Last Stop' by Casey McQuiston and I really loved it. I liked that it was light hearted overall, had good humor and of course, the sugary sweet women in love. I also really liked the sci-fi and magical realism thing it had going on and I'd love for similar books.

Anything that has light fantasy, magical realism and scifi aspects to it. Not necessarily all of them, but I hope you get the vibe. I'd appreciate any and all recommendations! Thank you!

Looking for fantasy/adventure wlw graphic novels

Hello! I’ve read a couple of great queer graphic novels, but I thirst for MORE. I’ve read Dead Endia, (although it’s less so wlw, I love it nonetheless. Fantastic queer read, and the show on Netflix is fantastic if anyone hasn’t seen it yet. It’s called dead end paranormal park on Netflix, if you’re interested) the girl from the sea, Mamo, and princess princess ever after. I want more wlw fantasy graphic novels to read. I never see any akin to how much straight relationships get. You can see some with fantastical stories and a heteronormative romance peppered in, but I rarely find any that have wlw relationships. Without it being like the focus, yknow? I read the Kyoshi books by FC Lee recently, (not graphic novels, but it’s a good example) and it was what I’ve been looking for as far as a fantasy story with a slow burn wlw romance. I would like to find something like that in graphic novel form. While I’m into regular books, yeah. But graphic novels hold a special place in my heart. I love visual art coupled with a great story. If anyone has any good suggestions, pleaaaaase comment below. I am desperate. lol

Cleat Cute by Meryl Wilsner was so bad that I needed to make a reddit post about it

So I caved and read Cleat Cute by Meryl Wilsner which has been making its rounds on booktok. One question. Do my fellow lesbians not have minimum literary standards? 💀 Phoebe is beyond irritating, chronically online coded, and imo infantilized. Grace is lazily written - it literally seems like the author looked up autism on TikTok and incorporated the script of “you might have autism if” videos. The constant Internal monologuing was unbearable. Their sex scenes literally came out of nowhere - in NO WAY would that type of sex between strangers happen so suddenly outside of a very drunken night at a bar. This lack of build and sudden bone jumping was cringey and a really amateur move (surprising because she has a couple books out). It made me stop in my tracks and wonder who tf edited this book and how it was cleared. This was honestly a really hard read for me, and I am baffled as I truly do not understand the praise for it. Hell, I’ve read better Ao3 USWNT fan fiction from 2016 than this. This book is clearly meant to be cute and lighthearted but it really missed the punchline. There are significantly better written YA books out there and this one being popular seems makes it seem more like the authors team had a massive PR budget then genuine interest and satisfaction from readers 😭😭 If you liked it let me know why because it currently sits at 1/5 stars for me.

Shila's Sweet Melody - my sapphic fantasy attempt

I've been testing the waters in writing in another language other than my mother tongue. The story is in English, of course, a fantasy, RPG-like setting where a bard finds out her party member and healer half-elf is discovering her own body - so she helps her with it. ;)

Here is the link to the ebook, Shila's Sweet Melody: https://www.amazon.com.br/dp/B0D3VRK5T6 . It is free if you have Kindle Unlimited.

If this isn't allowed, I am okay with removing this post. I just wanted to see if any sister could lend me her ears... or eyes, in the case of reading!

Mlm books with adult characters

I'm trying to find some good books that follow gay characters that aren't teenagers. My favorite genres are mystery, horror, psychological horror, historical, comedy and drama, but I'm open to other stuff. I'm mainly just looking for something that doesn't take place in a highschool. Most of the queer books I've read were aimed at a younger audience, and while they're still good I just didn't find myself as invested as I wish I was

MM fantasy recs?

I've been looking everywhere but I cant find any that peak my interest. I want one with a sun x moon dynamic, forbidden love, enemies to lovers, wholesome, little to no spice and I want a tragic ending because I haven't cried in a while. I'd prefer a standalone or duology at max. And pls have discreet covers, my mom's gonna kill me otherwise.

Books with a femboy protagonist that are not M/M?

I'm aware this request might not technically be literal LGBT but I'm not sure where else to look, so mods if this post needs to be removed I understand.

Its just that I've received some inadequate recommendations in the past, and I think most people just have a hard time understanding what I mean. I figured since this request might be at least "LGBT adjacent" it might gain a little more traction.

To be clear, I define "femboy" as a cisgender male that has a feminine gender expression (looks, clothes, interests, personality, etc.) He can have a masc side as well as long as he enjoys being pretty and has a softer personality. If it helps there are some other phrases for this concept like otokonoko, josou, tomgirl, etc.

I'd actually really love to read something with a tough male character who is strong but feminine in the same way that female characters are often depicted as strong but feminine. If there's any romance in the story, I would prefer it to me F/M, but I'm fine with it as long as it isn't a M/M romance.

I'm also not looking for a trans female character, a guy who has some superficially feminine hobbies/traits but otherwise presents as masculine, etc. I also don't really think a drag queen fits the bill either. I'm looking for a character that doesn't wear exaggerated femininity as a performance but just likes being pretty/cute in their every day life.

I've got nothing against those types of people of course, its just that I've been on a quest to find more stories featuring characters I can identify with better. Sometimes its frustrating because few people seem to understand.

Examples:

  • "Prince and the Dressmaker" graphic novel by Jen Wang
  • "Princess Jellyfish" manga by Akiko Higashimura
  • "The Left Handed Booksellers of London" novella series by Garth Nix
