My name is Ashwani Jain, and I am running for Congress to represent Maryland's 6th Congressional District as one of the only candidates in my race to have an actual LGBT+ policy platform! Ask me Anything! (AMA)

My name is Ashwani Jain, and I am a Democrat running for Congress to represent Maryland’s 6th Congressional District which includes Northern Montgomery County as well as Frederick, Washington, Allegany, and Garrett Counties.

While I would be the first Millennial and first Asian-American ever elected to represent Maryland in Congress, I am specifically running because I have comprehensive policy solutions that will open the doors of opportunity for our community.

This is an open seat with no incumbent, and Maryland's Primary election is on the 14th of May.

My top policy priorities include:

  • Removing the influence of corporate money in politics and campaigning.
  • Making public college free as an investment in our future.
  • Establishing a system of Medicare for All which includes access to reproductive health.
  • Increasing the minimum wage to $26 by 2030 to account for inflation, cost of living, and productivity.

Please feel free to ask any questions regarding my policies, the Congressional election, my experience campaigning, or anything else!

A survey regarding opinions on gender-affirming policy in the United States: FOR ADULTS

Hi, I am a high school student who is researching opinions on this issue within the LGBT community. The survey below is anonymous! It would mean a lot to me if people could take a few minutes to complete this form. I'm hoping to gain some understanding of alternative perspectives from this community. Thank you so much for your time! :)

To my fellow American gay people; Is anyone really worried about Project 2025?

I hope this post is allowed here, but I really need to talk with some fellow gay people about this.

I’m pretty sure that a lot of us know what Project 2025 is, because it has the potential to ruin our rights as gay people. Apparently, republicans/conservatives wanna put this into affect if they win the next election in 2024. If they really pass this, then we’re all screwed, maybe even people who ain’t gay/trans.

I really don’t wanna be worried about this, but life is gonna be literal hell if this concept becomes a reality. I’ve thought about moving to another country of Project 2025 really goes into effect, but I don’t think I can. The thought of adjusting the lifestyle of another country ain’t the thing for me, and apparently, foreign countries are only willing to take in people who have a career that’s in-demand. Ideally, I’m a blue-collar guy, and I just can’t have a tech job all because I’m expected to have it just to move to another country.

Seems like my only option in that scenario would be to stay here in America, and literally fight for my life. I’m so scared of either being killed for being gay, or being persecuted. I’m a somewhat strong person, but I ain’t built for that kind of thing.

Google "What's wrong with being gay" 1st result christiansanswers.net

Imagine being a lonely 15 cis boy figuring out that he might be gay, feels bad about and goes looking for answers on the internet. Wouldnt he be pleased to know that :

Three main studies are cited by “gay rights” activists in support of their argument2Hamer’s X-chromosome research,3 LeVay’s study of the hypothalamus,4 and Bailey and Pillard’s study of identical twins who were homosexuals.5

In all three cases, the researchers had a vested interest in obtaining a certain outcome because they were homosexuals themselves. More importantly, their studies did not stand up to scientific scrutiny by other researchers. Also, “the media typically do not explain the methodological flaws in these studies, and they typically oversimplify the results.”6 There is no reliable evidence to date that homosexual behavior is determined by a person’s genes.

Anyone else see the fine print on H.R.9197? They're trying to define being LGBT as sexual :/

Now that The queen has died, let's talk about why she should not be mourned.

1st of all, Alan Turing, the man who deciphered the enigma code, was arrested and medically castrated for being gay, during the queens reign, after he helped win ww2. The Queen gave him an official pardon in 2013/14, of course only over 50 years after he killed himself. 2nd. Until 1995 or so, she didn't let gay staff members bring their partners to meetings.

3rd. She told Diana not to advocate for Aids awareness, as it was thought to be spread by homosexuality.

This doesn't even go into how she reigned while indigenous people were treated like shit. Or how she didn't pay income tax until 1992. Or how she gave awards to American and British war criminals.

Before you immediately take any of this information, please do your own research to find your own opinion, and so you know how to prove your sources in the future. I would do this for any information on reddit.
