The globe's loudest band
A sub for one of the biggest hard rock bands of the 1970's, famous for songs like "Child In Time" and "Smoke On The Water." Formed in 1968, still rocking today.
Many people may have forgotten about the band, but we try to keep the spirit of this still-touring band alive! You can expect everything from this band on the sub. Music from every era of the band, awesome backstage live pictures, interviews and the 'craze' about all their new albums.
New releases can be found here and you can share your opinion about the many different musicians of the band, the various Marks and their albums, and all you can think of.
Deep Purple didn't stop after Blackmore!
This subreddit is meant for friendly discussion. Avoid insulting others and downvoting over disagreements.
Any type of post is welcome here, as long as its relevant to Deep Purple; songs, full albums, links to interesting forums or photo galleries, concert footage, news articles, discussions about anything related to the band.
Note that it must have a direct relation/purpose or it will be removed. Covers are an acceptable example. A cereal box with an advertisement to win Deep Purple tickets is not. For the superfans always posting here- spread out your posts as much as possible. If you need to make an appeal for a wrongly removed post or one caught by the spam filter, send a PM to a mod.
We welcome all strange kinds of women and hard lovin' men.

I just learned that Ian Paice was pretty much, Gary's drummer. ...and I know that Gary hung out at Roger's house. Why wasn't he ever considered to replace Ritchie?
I have a 1968 copy of the Book of Taliesyn, and when I was listening to it, I noticed that the mix is almost entirely devoid of any bass. I even turned up the bass to its maximum on my amplifier, and I could barely feel anything. I thought this was something wrong with my speakers or amp, but after listening to the album I put on made in Japan, I found the bass levels to be where they usually are. I after hooked up my phone to my amp and played the album off Spotify. I found the remaster from the 90s to be significantly better. Does anybody with an early copy of this album notice this?
Listened to all 23 studio albums as part of a “deep purple deep dive” and created this. If I left anything out, let me know so I can update it. There are som deep cuts here so strap in!

Always loved this single cd compiled by Ian Paice himself! All killer, no filler, 12 great songs!
Whats an deep purple song you absolutely love and think deserves more recognition?
Another question: If possible, are there other songs that have a cool breakdown like the one in Perfect Strangers?
can someone show me all times when Ritchie is going crazy with his guitar, and even that time he blew up the speaker? thanks.
Are there any official or bootleg recordings of DP in the era of Richie and Coverdale? Pref. soundboard if bootleg. Or at least high fidelity recording.
Bit old but a nice documentary.
I just listened to it for the first time front to back. IMO it’s not as bad as I thought it would be and Tommy Bolin was a hell of a player but it really doesn’t sound like DP anymore.
This summer, I'll be visiting UK for the first time. My dad, who passed away a few years ago, was such a devoted Deep Purple fan I thought it would be cool to honor that by planning some kind of stop (or two) that would be meaningful to the band's history. (For example, a few years ago we were in Switzerland to hike the Alps and were able to pop over to the Montreaux Jazz Festival for a few hours!)
Apologies if someone has already put a list together; I have found very little in recent Google searches. Thank you, cheers!
I gotta share this for all my DP Hammond enthusiasts.
Lachy Doley is coming here to the US, hopefully he'll fill all the seats and he'll come back. Dude is freaking awesome. Check out his Hendrix stuff on the Whammy Clavinet.
I'm going with my son to the Pittsburgh show. This will be a lifetime memory.
Here he is playing Lazy on the Hammond:
Just noticed they have the same guitar sound. Has anyone noticed? I'm a newbie on the subject, but when I googled about this I haven't seen any page talking about this. What do you guys think of it? Can anyone elucidate me?
