Should the team stick with their current strategy and rely on a committee approach for generating a pass rush, featuring Bonitto, Cooper, Allen, Myers, and Ellis? Or is it time to go after a true standout, elite pass rusher?
I feel they should stick with what we've got! I firmly believe Bonitto and Cooper are poised to hit double digits in sacks this season. And, if Myers and Allen can get on a roll or have a breakout game, they could also leverage some serious sack totals—maybe even reaching ten!
Overall, Denver's "I'll meet you at the QB" scheme seems to be paying off nicely. But here’s the question: Is this approach sustainable? Coop just got paid, Bonitto is next. Can we keep them all down the road financially?
Even Strnad has been extremely impressive with three sacks and always one of the first at the point of attack.
Sorry for the shaky camera but I was so excited and nervous watching this. Can you hear the devastation in my scream at the end? 😔
It's a nice little change of pace that we can actually talk about playoffs at this point of the year instead of looking towards the draft.
With the loss to the Chiefs this week, I think we can call this one. In order for us to win the division, we would not only need the Chiefs to completely collapse while we win out, but we would also need the Chargers to slow down as well. I don't think many of us expected us to compete for a division title, but we can officially cross it off the list. If we want to make the playoffs, it will need to be as a wildcard.
With 3 of the 4 divisions in the AFC being more or less locked up, the wildcard race is a lot more interesting this year. Notably, the Steelers and Ravens are battling for the AFC North title, with the loser likely to earn the 5 seed. With both teams playing pretty well and with both of them having tiebreakers over the Broncos, we can expect the 5 seed to be out of our grasp. It is still in reach for the Chargers, who have yet to play Baltimore but have lost to the Steelers, but most likely this spot will go to the 2nd place team in the AFC North
The 6th & 7th seeds are still up for grabs, with a number of teams vying for these last few spots:
The Chargers have quietly won 3 in a row (albeit against a soft schedule) and have the inside track for the 6th seed. With a critical game against Cincinnati coming up next week, we could see them solidify their position as a wildcard team this week.
Despite the tough loss to Baltimore last week, the Bengals are hanging in there at 4-6, sitting a game outside the playoffs. This is a very talented team that could theoretically beat anyone, but they've really struggled due to poor coaching and a tough schedule. It would not be surprising at all to see them pull off some upsets and get themselves back into the playoffs.
The Colts are hanging in there as well, despite a 3 game losing streak due to poor quarterback play. While they are currently only a game back, most metrics do not view them as a serious playoff contender, but rather as a team that may back their way into the playoffs if the other wildcard teams are not able to get their act together. This may end up materializing, however, as the Colts still have very winnable games coming up against the Jets, Patriots, Titans, Giants, and Jaguars. It would not be shocking to see the Colts finish with 8 to 10 wins and still be in the playoff conversation come January.
A late addition to the playoff picture is the Dolphins. Coming off a Monday night victory against the Rams, Miami is sitting at 3-7 with a healthy quarterback and a number of winnable games on their schedule. While the odds are stacked against them and Tua returning may be too little too late, this is still a team that made the playoffs last year and is not ready to quit on the season. If they can pull off an upset and handle the AFC bottom feeders, this is a team that could make the playoff picture very complicated.
The Jets round off the playoff picture, although there is not much to say about them at this point. They made a good attempt to add talent to their roster, but fell flat on their face. In order to make the playoffs, they would need to go on a serious run and hope the rest of the AFC collapses, but right now there is no indication that they even have the ability to put together a winning streak, let alone win any games at all. They haven't been eliminated yet, but right now it seems more likely that they will be picking in the top 5 than it is that they'll make the playoffs.
The Patriots, Browns, Titans, Raiders, and Jaguars do not seem to be making a serious attempt to win games at this point. The Patriots and Browns are really the only teams here who even have a shot to impact the playoff picture, but most likely they just do not have the talent or coaching to go on a serious run. The Titans and Raiders seem to have completely given up on the season and are more concerned about getting the #1 overall pick to draft a bust than they are about the playoffs. The Jaguars should be much better than they are, but Trevor Lawrence is likely out for the year and Doug Pederson is not a serious coach. However, all of these teams are still capable of pulling off upsets, and even a single upset by one of these teams can seriously alter the playoff picture. We saw this a couple weeks ago, where the Browns upsetting the Ravens made it a lot harder for them to win the division.
Finally, our Broncos are sitting in the 7th seed at 5-5, with a tough game against Atlanta next week. We are in a very fortunate position, with there being very few teams competing for the last wildcard spot in the AFC. Our ability to make the playoffs should come down to a few things:
Can we beat both the Colts and the Bengals? Losing even one of these games could cost us a playoff spot.
Can we pull off an upset against at least one of the presumptive playoff teams on our schedule? We came close to beating the Chiefs last week, but beating the Falcons, Chargers, or Chiefs will go a long way towards solidifying our playoff hopes.
Can we avoid one of the teams below us in the standings going on a surge and taking our spot? The Colts aren't a huge threat, but could become one if they can avoid an upset against their soft schedule. The Bengals and Dolphins are both talented enough to make the playoffs, but have very little room for error.
Generally speaking, most models view us and the Bengals as roughly equal in the playoff race but this can change dramatically week-to-week depending on the results of each game. A good, simple way to view the playoff race is that it is roughly 33% Broncos, 33% Bengals, and 33% someone else to snag the last wildcard spot. Every game that we win, especially those against other contenders, will dramatically shift the odds in our favor.
Falcons @ Broncos - A loss in this game won't kill us as we are largely relying on other teams losing while we stay close to .500, but a win against a surging Falcons team would be a huge boost for our morale and set us up nicely for a good winning streak in the next few weeks. We are currently 1.5 point favorites, but we are essentially equal teams so this will be a great game to watch. Winning this game could be the difference between comfortably making the playoffs and anxiously hoping Zac Taylor keeps screwing his team over.
Colts @ Jets - This is functionally an elimination game. Technically, the Colts could still hang on if they lose, but they need to win every winnable game at this point, so losing this will require them to pull off a serious upset later on. If the Jets lose, it is just too hard to come back from having 8 losses this late in the season and we can scratch them off the list. I recommend rooting for the Colts to lose, as this will remove a key competitor from the playoff race and likely leave them demotivated for our matchup in week 15. The Jets staying alive for 1 more week should not impact us much, as they will eventually lose one more and get eliminated then.
Bengals @ Chargers - While it would suck to see the Chargers win and go to 7-3, every Bengals loss helps us a ton. A loss here puts them 3 games under .500 and puts them at 7 wins, which will make it very difficult to crawl back into the playoff picture.
There are some other great games this week, but they do not have a substantial impact on our playoff hopes. This is one of the most exciting weeks this season, so I hope everyone is able to have fun and enjoy the games
I thought it might be fun to check in on the 2024 season predictions thread from August

PFF says a lot of nice things about the Broncos.
I know it sounds crazy, but I haven’t been that invested in a Broncos game in a very long time. That gut-wrenching loss is right up there with the 2012 Rahim Moore/Jacoby Jones debacle, or the 1996 loss to the Jags in the divisional round. The last 8 years we are so used to watching crappy football, it just didn’t even matter. But damn, that one yesterday hurt! Soul crushing, rip your heart out kind of loss. Which means I feel like we’re actually relevant again! Cheers to watching good Broncos football again. I’d like to think we’re going to be a huge pain in the ass to many teams moving forward, and with some adjustments a legitimate contender in the league. Oh yeah, and now we know the Chiefs can no longer steam roll the AFC west anymore. These Broncos are here to stay!
I watch all Broncos games and because I went to a beer festival yesterday, I'm starting the game now, even knowing the result of the game.
Two years ago, because the university, I had to pass 2 weks without watching any football games and after I finished my final project I watched the 2 Broncos games that I lost, knowing the broncos was the loser in both.
So, I really don't miss any Broncos game.
Would you watch the game if you wasn't able to watch live and know the results?
Hey everyone! Falcons fan here! my wife and some friends of mine (10 of us in total) are traveling to Denver for this weekend’s match up. It’s a spur of the moment trip for us and we just bought tickets for the game. We are looking to have a good time as it’s most of us first time to a Broncos game. What time does the party start in the lots and any suggestions of what to see or do on game day before the game are much appreciated!
That was an awesome game to watch with an absolute heartbreaking ending. Shout out to JumpForWaffles for sending the belt buckle all the way to KC!
Bo Nix: 2260 total yards, 15 total TDs, 6 INTs, 0 fumbles, 63.6% completion rate, 5-5
Jayden Daniels: 2611 total yards, 13 total TDs, 2 INTs, 0 Fumbles, 68.7% completion rate, 7-3
Caleb Williams: 2021 total yards, 9 total TDs, 5 INTs, 1 Fumble, 60.5% completion rate, 4-5
Hi Bronco's fans, I bought my wife and her friend tickets for the Dec 15 game against the Colts. What should she prepare for as far as weather or any other consideration? Obviously is going to be cold and possible wet. We are from Portland, Or so we know a little about that. She will be staying semi-close to the stadium and will be getting an Uber or similar for travel from the hotel.
On another note, sorry you had to endure my teams quarterback. Now you have my teams college quarterback, so enjoy!
Figured I’d share this view from the endzone. Was at the game, proudly repping. Had a gorgeous view of this and of Court TD too. Wasn’t expecting the 30+ yard dime so wasn’t recording.
That blocked FG was heartbreaking, but as much as I hate to say this, the Chiefs fans around me were all incredibly gracious. Spoke so highly of the Broncos the entire game, couldn’t stop saying positive things about Bo, and many told me “the better team lost today. Good luck, and hope you guys make the playoffs.” I don’t know why I was expecting them all to be assholes, but hats off to KC fans for being good hosts to the Broncos fans. At least from this vantage point.
Between Estime showing ball security/burst, Jaleel taking over the 3rd down role and Mims being utilized as the gadget guy, it seems like Javonte has become the odd man out.
Barring any injuries or regression from Estime, do you think we’ll see very much of Javonte for the rest of the season? Dude finally looked like he was coming back into form over the past game or two…
Hey there german broncos fan here.
It's my first post here. Short introduction here... I'm an 41 yo father of 2 born and living in Germany so please excuse my bad english 😅
I'm interested in the nfl since about 2013... and I can't tell why but I choose the Broncos to be my favorite team. 👌
I always read/ saw bits and pieces here and there.... and for no specific reason this year I'm balls deep into football and still with the broncos. Even as far as ordering my very first broncos jersey 😅
The NFL had a hughe push in Germany during the last year's so it's easier to keep up to date and watch live games. Just as Sundays heartbreaking loss 😩
During the game I realised that I have to gain way more expertise 😅
So here is my question. Is there any good source to learn about football? Any app or homepage, YouTube channel (i already watch thatsgoodsports but that doesn't count i guess 😅) or something? It's not about basics it's more about analyzing. To be able to see good or bad play calls ect. Just stuff like that just a bit more in depth. Let's say its about reaching level 2 or 3 🤣
Help would be appreciated 🤗 Till then GO BRONCOS
