I'm moving out of state within a few weeks and unfortunately that's left me with a ton of leftover canned goods. I'm currently in Littleton so I'm looking for a good food bank/cause I can easily donate the rest of my stuff to so nothing goes to waste, thank you in advance!
How do you know you have a sound and efficient ductwork system? Any company recommendations to come and assess our ductwork? Are there usually fees attached to having someone come out for the assessment only?
Background and I gotta vent a bit - We recently moved into a house and after some initial demo, found asbestos tape along and inside the some of the ductwork. This was not disclosed by the seller/I don't know if the seller knew about the asbestos tape, so this was a surprise find for us.
We have a good number of estimates for asbestos removal (we also have tiles and other things being tested for potential removal), and during these consultations, we explored whether we want to update the ductwork since the asbestos removal process may lead to removing sections of the ductwork (might as well see if the entire system could benefit from upgrades). And when looking for areas with asbestos tape, the folks from asbestos abatement companies are a little confused with the ducting and how the system is organized.
After putting out a few inquiries to HVAC companies, I feel like I'm chasing my tail. The HVAC companies that are getting back to me are quick to say they don't touch asbestos (that's not what I'm asking them to do) and refer me to asbestos abatement companies (we have plenty of estimates already).
Then they ask for photos of the ductwork and from the photos say the system doesn't need updating/replacing. Surely the 5-7 photos don't paint the entire picture of the functionality of the system, right? When I finally get to point to see if someone can come to assess, there is a trip and diagnosis fee right off the bat- is that normal?
We already know we are likely removing the entire boots since we can see tape inside and that's been tested positive for asbestos, so regardless of how much of the system needs replacement/updating, we will need to work with someone to install new ductwork soon after the removal.
All I want to do is do the right thing: fix the source of the issue (remove the asbestos where possible (especially inside the ductwork)) and bring the house (built in the 1940s) up to code and be more energy efficient (which could mean an HVAC ducting system). The carriage before the horse dance is kinda driving me crazy.
Also note to asbestos abatement folks - it would be SO helpful if you have partnerships with HVAC people so this song and dance is not left to the homeowner to figure out and pull hair out about coordinating the removal and reinstallation. Just saying.
Thanks for letting me vent and any recommendations of good and understanding HVAC/ductwork companies are much appreciated.
I'm a patient at UCHealth. I received notices from my insurance after visits like "you will have to pay xx dollars" but when I go to UCHealths billing portal, I am charged much less, or sometimes not at all. There's an MRI I got that I never saw the bill from. Does anyone have any suggestions on why this is happening? Does UCHealth just take forever to post charges? I'm a young adult so I don't know if I just incorrectly set something up. I don't want to call them and ask in case they realize theyve forgotten to bill me and then charge me
I have a vintage brown bomber leather jacket that my parents dog chewed into around the collar that I want to get repaired.
Has anyone used a place they could recommend?
Hi everyone, I never thought I’d find myself in a position like this, but here I am, and I don’t know what else to do. I recently fled an abusive relationship and left with my two little kids (6 and 8.) We left with barely anything, just enough so we would be okay to get by. I managed to get us a small room, it’s not much but its ours and we are now safe which is all that matters. After paying for this room, I barely have enough left for groceries. I have never asked for assistance but now that I did I’ve been getting denied and I have no idea why. I’ve never been in a situation like this and it breaks my heart because I see my kids innocent faces and just feel like as a parent I’m failing because we should be able to give them simple necessities. So if If anyone knows of any resources or has advice, we would be so grateful.
My friend was hit in his 1994 Toyota pick up. The other driver was at fault. I know it’s not what you think of when discussing classic cars. Technically, it is registered as one. The truck has had multiple alterations, custom parts, new engine, new transmission, is lifted with big expensive tires etc. All oem replacement parts besides the custom stuff.
Problem is none of the collision repair shops we’ve talked to will repair the truck because of its age. And the insurance companies contracted collision shop is going to try to total the truck at blue book value…Not considering the custom parts/new engine, etc. It’s sounding like they’re going to try and cut him a check for three grand when this truck is probably worth 20k+ based on similar market value. It was also his daily driver and he can’t go six months trying to dispute an undervalued insurance claim.
Any recommendations?
My nieces will be in town and it will be their first time seeing snow! It’s not looking like we’ll get any in the city, but I’m looking to take them to the mountains one day so they can do all of the traditional (free) snow activities.
I bought two basic sleds from target and I’m wondering if anyone has any recommendations for good spots on the front range or further to take them?
Thanks so much & happy Thanksgiving!
I have been doing the same job since I graduated high school about 15 years ago. I am honestly looking for a change. I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer 2 years ago and my company has been absolutely amazing to me during this time, however I feel like it is time for me to grow as a person and expand my horizons as this job is becoming more difficult for me to do. I have never been given opportunity for growth and because of this, I feel under qualified to do anything. I guess I am just looking for advice on how to go about making a career change? This job is all I've ever known and I'm not even sure where to start. Id appreciate any advice. Thank you
Tenant Tuesday Thread- Please post your tenant rights questions or moving questions here!
Welcome to /r/Denver's Tenant Tuesday Thread! Unless it's Tuesday, post your housing-related questions here instead of making a separate post for them, thanks!
As I'm sure you are all aware, there has been a recent deluge of housing-related posts on /r/Denver. Lots of helpful/useful information posted in one thread would be invisible unless someone saw it before posting their own.
For the next couple months we're only going to allow tenancy/housing/apartment main threads/posts on Tuesdays. I'll post a link to each of the threads posted today in this thread and it will remain stickied through the week.
Ideally we'll be able to build out some type of Wiki/FAQ for these types of posts as we go forward, but for now, have at it! If you are seeking housing information on /r/Denver and it's not Tuesday, feel free to ask your question in here, or peruse the list of questions posted to the subreddit on the previous Tenant Tuesday.
If you have suggestions to improve this thread, please leave them here as well!
Thanks!

I’m ubering to Ball Arena for Billie tonight, has anyone used the new ride share drop off spot?? Where do I tell my uber to drop us off? And do I go back to that spot to get picked up? Also if anyone has any input on how early I should be there I would appreciate that. Sorry for all the questions i’ve never been to Ball Arena
Hey folks, what are the best stores in Denver for Carhartt clothing, near downtown? It looks like Murdoch's has a good selection.
Thanks!
What's the best $5-10 you can spend for food in the Denver+ area that's not corporate?
I'm talking like ma and pa places or something like they had in Colorado Springs with the Golden Gyro place that just permanently closed. They had an amazing $6 gyro. Trying to find something like that in Denver.
Brown leather collar, looked anxious so am posting here in case anyone lost their dog
For Christmas, I'd like to browse local stores with well curated collections of beautifully made (useful or interesting) goods. Kitchen or books are great but I'm open to anything that fits the description.
Edit: I'm referring to local shops that have great "affordable luxury" offerings
On Saturday 11/16 there was a going-away barcrawl around Rino/Globeville for one of my friends moving out of the country. There was a small Black Notebook being passed around so all of his friends could write letters for him to read. Amid the drinking and it being passed around amongst a ton of people, we ended up losing the notebook somewhere along the way. We think it was misplaced on the walk somewhere between No 38 & Fort Greene or left in an Uber leaving Fort Greene that night. We've asked the bars but it hasn't been spotted in either one.
Desperately trying to find this as he moves away this Weds 11/20. I will be forever grateful to anyone who finds it or has seen it anywhere!

I am looking for places where I can get tested for Autism and ADHD. My psychiatrist cannot do the testing; she can only refer me out, but unfortunately, all the referrals she gave me only accept children. I am 25. I have Health First Choice Colorado Medicaid. Thank you in advance for any recommendations!
A side note: I do not believe I fall on the spectrum, but I was told by one of the places I called that Medicaid would not cover an ADHD assessment *unless* (1) there is a concern for autism or (2) I am already diagnosed with autism.
At least Sunday day/ evening and today Monday afternoon and evening so far.

Went through my clothes recently and have two small bags, also a pair of boots. A few random things too, toys, a wallet, some headphones.
Also have 4 sticks of deodorant that my body just doesn’t seem to mesh with. All unused.
Goodwill comes to mind but I feel like they get plenty of stuff. Wondering if there are some smaller operations that need more donations? Also thinking the deodorant would go like directly to unhoused if possible, as opposed to into a store for people to have to buy.
Hello all, I have lived in an apartment in city park south area for a while now. I pay utilities through Xcel energy. Suddenly this month I noticed my rent went from 1500 to over 2000. I looked at the bill and the “common electric charge” that I generally pay around 20 dollars for is suddenly 470 dollars. I’m not going to pay that. Seems like a mistake was made but of course no one is ever in the office to answer a call.
