His rookie season was electric but he never r she’d those highs again, could it be a result of poor qb play and lack of opportunity, I think so.

I think we’re all jazzed about tillman and rightfully so, but can we really overlook the upside with Elijah, schedule ahead sucks but how the offense perform against the chargers will show just how productive this offense can or cannot be with Jamies undercenter, this guy moore sued to be a beast, maybe he hits a rebound, what do you think?

Mid-Season Storyline Report - Fantasy Football Analytics

Jermaine Burton is very talented no doubt (based on his collegiate and Preseason success) but has been hampered by off the field concerns (allegedly sleeping during team meetings in the preseason) and immaturity. This week could finally be the chance for Burton to really show what he is capable of on an NFL field. He has played very limited snaps this season and has only two catches (47, 41). He logged his highest snap count last week in Higgins absence at 41% and recorded 1 catch for 41 yards on 3 targets (nearly logged his 1st career TD on a red zone target). The big question is, why would Sunday's game be different than last week and give hope for an expanded role and usage? Here goes:

First off, Tee got injured late in the week last week likely after the team had installed their offensive gameplan. This means that they likely didn't install anything specific for Burton's skill set and he was probably not intending to get more than a handful of snaps if he wasn't going to be a healthy scratch. This week, the Bengals have known all week that Tee is unlikely to play and could plan accordingly to better suit Burton's skillset.

Next is the narrative coming out of Cincinnati surrounding Burton. There was an article posted yesterday discussing the emergence of Jermaine Burton. Joe Burrow said in his presser that Burton needed to see more opportunities and he has natural abilities that can't be taught and they need to get him involved in the offense. Zac Taylor dismissed any concerns that he has had any off field issues recently and that he has earned the trust of the coaching staff. The WR coach said that during the snaps that he played last week he didn't miss a single assignment. It all adds up to a concerted effort to prepare the fanbase for an expanded role for Burton, at least this week, and potentially the remainder of the year.

Lastly, fresh legs this late in the season can't hurt, and Burton was the top rated WR by PFF in the preseason. The Bengals offense is lacking in weapons outside of Chase and need someone to step up. This could be a good opportunity for a least a spot start and a roster stash for the next time Tee gets hurt if you are like so many this year mired in WR injury hell.

TL:DR - If you are really hurting for a WR this week, you should give Jermaine Burton consideration for a spot start .
