Surrey is one of the fastest-growing and most culturally diverse cities in Canada, holding the title for the largest municipality in the GVRD region by land area. It has a bit of everything - urban vibes, industrial big box districts, sprawling suburbs lined with ticky tacky row homes, and seemingly endless stretches of beautiful rural countryside. Nestled between the Fraser River and the United States border, Surrey covers the southern portion of the Metro Vancouver Regional District.

Anyone lost their car keys at the Tynehead Regional Par?

If yes, please respond with the car make, description of how the keys look like, and if any additional keys were on the ring so that I know you are the real owner. Otherwise, I will drop off the keys at the nearest police station.

I've been creating a weekly Friday Fun Facts sheet for my nephew, and I thought, why not share it here? Each week features a fun factoid on Science, History, Sports, and even Pokémon. Feel free to share it with the young factoid enthusiasts in your life, and let me know what you think!

Bosa University District North & South Towers

I was looking into possibly purchasing a unit in one of these buildings. I know these buildings are new, but I was wondering if anyone has any insights on them. If you live there, how is it? Any issues come up? Any leaks, fire alarms? How are the elevators? Any noise complaints? How's strata?

Yeah, I asked a lot of questions 😆 but I'm hoping that would make it easier in answering.

Nightmare on Elm Street playing Halloween Night at the Caprice Theatre in South Surrey

FYI if anyone is a scary movie / Halloween enthusiast!!

Caprice Showcase Theatres is showing Nightmare on Elm Street on Halloween night (930pm).

Tickets are only $10 and you can pre-purchase tickets online and select your own seats. Took me a minute to figure it out but you have to make sure the "Select New Date" is set to Oct 31st to select the movie that day since it is only showing that day

I'm not affiliated with the theatre, I just thought it was a great idea and hope its successful!

Personally I hope they do more events like this and embrace a bit of a repertoire theatre format.

Transit is failing us

The state of transit in this city is utterly embarrassing.

I bought my own car a few months ago to get away from the constantly full trains and buses and have been car commuting to school ever since - takes about the same time as transit during rush hour, but at least I'm comfortable.

Decided to get a part upgraded on my car so she's in the shop for a day, and so this is the first time in months I've hopped on a bus. Surely it'll be fine, right? It's one day of using transit - all I ask is that it get me to school. One day.

Well apparently not, cuz my bus is totally full - it passes me up and flies right by me. I'm a bit annoyed, but whatever; I'm reasonably in shape and can jog the two kilometres or whatever to the SkyTrain while still being on time-ish. As I'm running the whole way there, I'm thinking to myself, "I'm one of the lucky ones - what if it'd been an elderly person or a young kid who's now completely stranded?"

I get to the train and am met with what looks to be an almost completely full train, and I'm having to squeeze myself onboard before the doors close in my face. And this is like, 12pm! Not even close to rush hour.

Then we ask why traffic is so bad - it's because all the alternatives to driving are even worse. I'm glad to be getting my car back today.

Residents of Surrey, what are your likes and dislikes about living here?

I am considering moving to Surrey due to lower housing costs, and would like to know what do you personally like best about Surrey and what do you dislike about it?

Share your favourite places to eat/visit as well! I'd like to explore the area more.

Diwali - need advice

Hi Surrey, I need your help/advice.

I work with a young lady (20’s). She is missing family and home at the moment. She is really excited about Diwali and I wanted to know if getting her a little gift would be appropriate.

I used to have lots of people to ask at my last job but not anymore…. So can someone tell me if a gift would be appropriate, any idea what I should get and what day I should give it to her? I was going to get her a box of assorted sweets or a gift certificate to ChaiWala (she mentioned that she liked it once). But I don’t know if that would be appropriate? I’m out of my element a bit and really don’t want to offend her.

Any help/advice would be appreciated!
