Hello! I’m currently debating on if I want to do plumbing and was wondering how long the wait would be. I looked into the BCIT website and saw that the program is open and see no wait list. Is this legit?
Did anyone took this course with chris? Im scared of its final and I need to ask a couple questions
can anyone who has taken the math 12, anatomy and physiology 12, and physics 12 exams share their experience? i have taken all these courses in high school but its been 5 years and i'll have to update them before applying to either the mri tech program or ultrasound program.
would the exams be on par with a first year ubc course, or are they more on par with bc high school level questions? if it's the former i doubt i would be able to get above 73 only be self studying and a practice exam
Here are some of the common questions you may have when applying for Housing at BCIT Burnaby Campus
How is the social life? Really depends on the suite you are put in based on your preferences my experience has been great so far. You can chose to be in an all man suite if you are a guy or all female or mix depending on your preference.
How much does it cost? So rent for the 2024/2025 school year is $28.50/night. For both short and long stays and rent increases 2% each year.
What does the room include? It will include a closet, two drawers, a desk, chair, bed and a night stand along with a recycling and garbage box
Will l have to clean the place? No, luckily BEST is the company that cleans the shared living spaces, kitchen and bathrooms except your room.
The residence is close to Metrotown the fifth biggest mall in Canada and Brentwood. Everything else is 30-40 mins sky train ride to downtown.
Alright so most of you have noticed there is a new building being built. That building will be finished in April and be open to move in on September 2025 fall school year.
You have options you can either rent a studio or a double bed studio shared bathroom with someone else.
Here is the link to the website

Here the link tho their FAQ
https://www.bcit.ca/housing/frequently-asked-housing-questions/
Also another thing to mention is that there is opportunities for you to get housing covered Here are some of the few options;
In my opinion student maintenance is a great way to get your housing rent covered 100% for the duration of your contract usually every semester. During the summer you work 20hrs/week and during the school year your hours varies depending on your schedule. Student Bursary is another way but this usually only covers $250 each semester. Lastly the best option is to become an RA. The work can be intense depending on the school year. As an RA your duty is to create events for residents, create weekly reports to housing, plan housing events and do weekly walks around the residence. As compensation you will have $2000 per semester allowance with your own room which is bigger in the town houses compared to Tall Timber.
Now you may ask will l also get my own private suite as a student maintenance? Answer is no you will be living in your assigned room but be paid minimum wage and free rent for the duration of your contract. Another thing to mentioned is that with the new building being made new student maintenance will be needed however your rent might not fully get covered since maintenance students currently live in the townhouses and the tall timber studios are more expensive. Housing will accommodate for that so that everyone receives a fair compensation. Another thing to know is that the prices for the new student building will be $1250 for studio unit and $1050 for modified bed with a residence life fee of $50 while the townhouses will be ~$893 long stay and $36/day short stay for the 2025/2026 school year.
Honestly campus life is amazing, you have the rec centre 2 mins away from the dorms, your classes 5-8 mins depending on your program and building.
Things you will need will be beddings, dishes, food, personal hygiene products and you are allowed a microwave and mini fridge in your dorm.
Let me know your experience applying for housing or if you have any questions. I have lived in the dorms for about a year now and my experience has been great. Great place, the housing staff are kind, they are on top of things. 5 star review
hello I just wanna ask hows the automotive non coop in bcit, I wanna know some insights like hows the class and overall workload. Thank you!
Hi I just wanted to come on here and ask some questions about the marketing management program. How the workload is? How much of a social life will you have? How much studying you’ll need to do per week? All the details needed for someone about to start the program
My current education is I’ve completed the associate certificate of construction operations at bcit, and my plan was to get into the bachelors construction management and for that I need a diploma or degree.
So now I have decided to take marketing management diploma and I want to know more about it before I apply
I’ve also signed up for the virtual program info session.
Thanks for taking time and reading this hopefully I can get some good advice and feedback!
Hoping that program could give me the tools I need to start working remotely as a freelance virtual assistant. I've been an admin in the past but I need to renew my skills in a proper school.
Hello!
I’ve sent an application to bcit for their welding program, and I was wondering what the expected response time should be. It’s been a little over a month since I have applied.
Is this the normal expected wait time? If not, do you have any suggestions for what my next course of action should be?
Last week I applied for the diploma program, it only required a copy of my transcript and fee payment, is that all that will be needed or will I be contacted for more information? I've also gotten into the mybcit account/email system.
I'm just curious because I got into a program and paid my commitment fee. But yet there is something that I came across that I just have to ask about. What is "Quick Registration", in red letters next to that says "Payment is required immediately or your registration will be dropped and you will lose your seat.". Not sure what that is referring to since I did already pay. Sorry if I'm slow or anything.
Hi dear Alumni or current students of The Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology (ECET) . I’m interested in maybe applying to this program and I would like to know how this program has gone for you. I’d love to hear from those who went the bachelors route and those who went in the diploma route. The entrance requirement show math / physics/ and chem. How would you say these courses at bcit are compared to high school physics/ chem etc. I’ve gotten B’s in physics Chemistry and Pre calculus would u say that I might be ok or I might struggle. And with hard work is this program doable? I’m not even sure if I have the grades to even get in if it’s so competitive , but I’d like to still try. And are there career opportunities out there if I wanted to stop at diploma? I might want to complete my bachelors later in life. Lastly ik someone mentioned I will need to learn coding. Is that similar to people in cst? What programming language do you have to learn/know. Thanks for reading this
Right now I’m just struggling to use this app, it says I’m all signed in but that I can’t use it since I don’t have permission, honestly I have been trying to avoid doing this cause of how tedious I heard authenticator was. And I really need to see my emails
I was accepted to a full time program set to begin September of 2025. I have already paid my commitment fee. I have not yet been registered for any courses and I believe I cannot view or pay tuition/view my schedule/get u pass before I am registered.
So I’m asking if I’m correct in that I can’t do any of this until I’m registered and if anyone knows approximately how long before program start date I will be registered. It would be my first year at BCIT.
I’m currently getting my BBA at Cap U and want to take 2 or 3 courses in blueprint reading and others at BCIT. How can I do this? Would I need to apply to BCIT or can I just apply to these few classes easily? I don’t want to declare for a major or any program
Has anyone ever used that sleep pod thing in the library? What did you think?
I know you have to book it, and it seems like a cool thing (naps on campus, wonderful thing) but I’m not actually sure about the details or what it’s like.
Are they comfortable? Quiet? Anything else worth noting?
I'm currently studying at langara college for the associates of computer science program. However, I am tired of this waitlist system the school has, as I am not able to get my courses. Should I transfer to the BCIT computer science program and what should I do?
I left my pen in room 205, building SE6. Yesterday (11/28) I was sitting at the second row and class ended at 2:20pm.
It was a black Sailor/Pilot fountain pen and it’s very dear to me. The pen is a hand-me-down from my grandfather, so please please if anyone came across it let me know. I genuinely cannot afford to lose it.
Who can tell me, where do bcit program advisors work? I would like to consult in person on next Wednesday regarding the application for programe. Thank you
Hey I’m thinking of enrolling in digital communications & Wireless tech program upcoming sept. I want to know some details before I start my application. How are the classes and workload in this program? How much of a life will you have while in this program?
Hey Guys! I'm thinking of applying to the diploma full time but my goal is to end up as a pacemaker tech through the advanced certificate option after taking the diploma. Has anyone gone through it? What are the job prospects like for a pacemaker technologist in BC
Hey guys! I was planning on applying to BCIT and I saw that there was an option to choose between the cohort and flex program so I had a couple questions I wanted to ask.
I'm currently at an office job that pays well but makes me feel dead inside so I'm considering a new career in trades.
I wanted to see what others experienced in their field to help me decide what I should do.
What trades are in demand right now? I read that some have generous grants and bursaries and all that? How long was your program and how much did it cost? How much do you get paid? Any other info you wish you would have known before you started?
So far the ones that seem interesting to me are
I'm open to other jobs as well. Any and all feedback is welcome.
How long does bcit admission process take
A situation happened between a professor and I which lead to a very heated moment. Would love to hear any perspective of anybodys experience on what it was like contacting with the dean in BCIT.
Howdy. I was recently accepted into the Electrical Foundation program waitlist and was informed my position is around 500th in place! Does anybody know how long the wait usually is around that position?
I lost a black wallet around two hours ago today - it has my driver's licence, debit card, ids, etc. The wallets been gifted to me, so it's very special to me and I really hope to find it.... I traced back all my steps, and told the BCIT security about it as well. There were a lot of crows when I was sitting outside SE14, so I don't know if theres a chance one of 'em took it, but I'm still hoping I just misplaced or dropped it somewhere :-( If anyone happens to spot it, please let me know! Thank you ;-;
Hello! I was wondering if there are any school policies regarding instructors returning marking in a timely manner? Currently in an online class and I am concerned with the mark turnaround time. So far the instructor has taken 2 months to get marking back from the start of term (still several other assignments pending) and feel I am going into the final assignment and exam blind.
I have just received email said that I’m in the waitlist for Piping Foundation. I emailed the admissions about my position and still waiting for their answer. So how bad is the waitlist now…one…two years ? I checked on tradetrainingbc.ca and found this program is only available in 2026.
