Surrey is one of the fastest-growing and most culturally diverse cities in Canada, holding the title for the largest municipality in the GVRD region by land area. It has a bit of everything - urban vibes, industrial big box districts, sprawling suburbs lined with ticky tacky row homes, and seemingly endless stretches of beautiful rural countryside. Nestled between the Fraser River and the United States border, Surrey covers the southern portion of the Metro Vancouver Regional District.

High rise recommendations?

Hi everyone,

Long story short, I am moving from Abbotsford to Surrey for my job. Living in a basement in Abbotsford I now want to switch it up and go a completely different route from my previous very suburban lifestyle.

I am looking for 1 bedroom suites around the 2000 mark.

Here is the kicker - I want to be at least on the 15th floor, if not more. Nicer views the better.

I am looking around downtown and for things to be as walkable and filled with amenities as possible (eating out, grocery shopping, skytrain, access to Vancouver and in general just good to walk around) More self-contained the better (apartment has its own park, gym, pool, terrace etc). Also nice if its newer (ready to be burned for this but I like the "simple" cookie cutter stainless steel white paint designs of this decade)

Anyone has any recommendations? I have booked viewings for Locale at Century City and Park Avenue* but looking for more suggestions

Thanks in advance!

PSA Please remember, intersections that have lost power must be treated as a four way stop.

That is all.

Surrey tower experience

I live in one of the towers by KG skytrain station, and today the power went out because of the wind. Shortly after I guess the backup generator or whatever system they use went down too so it was a complete black out in the building.

Soon after there was no running water and the toilets don’t flush anymore. Several hours later the power comes back on. Been on for about an hour now. Still no water, toilets, and only one elevator working. The lights look dim in the hallways. No email from the concierge explaining anything that’s happening, or any of the issues still unresolved.

Is this normal for a building only a few years old? I’m surprised that in 2024 the water stops and so do the toilets. I wouldn’t be as annoyed as I am if the build quality of this place wasn’t so poor already. This is what people are paying over 1000 bucks a square foot for? Feels like if something horrible happened one day in the world, this building and others like it would go into complete disarray immediately.

Inoperative traffic lights are to be treated as a 4-way stop.

It’s incredible I even gotta post this. How the fuck did some of these clowns obtain a driver’s license?

Major crash involving 9 cars and a semi on the 99 during rush hour traffic Thursday night

https://www.google.com/amp/s/globalnews.ca/video/10916134/two-in-critical-condition-after-multi-vehicle-crash-on-highway-99-in-surrey/amp/

https://www.northdeltareporter.com/local-news/highway-99-closed-southbound-due-to-crash-7705942

I missed this by literally one hour. Detour still in effect as of 5am north and south bound from the 91hwy on/off ramp to the king George on/off ramp. Two people in critical condition.

If anyone has dashcam footage please submit it to the police.
