When riding on a multi-use path, how would you handle an intersection with a three-way stop like this?
My understanding was that you must stop if you’re riding with traffic on the actual road surface, but not if you’re riding on the separate multi-use path.
Obviously it’s a good idea to error on the side of caution, but I’m looking for the technical answer in this case.
Anyone care to share where they stop to refill bottles ? Gas stations, churches, random yards, libraries ? cheers
Guys give me your fav shop and your experience!! Thanks! (For a video.)
I have a generic pair now, needs replacing. I'd like a new pair that is somewhat SLIM and SEXY. Any recommendations? TY.
Hi everyone! Has anyone done the Horseshoe Bay to Squamish route, or the route starting from Vancouver? How moderate is it, and is there anything I should keep in mind along the way?
I’m planning to do a 100k ride tomorrow morning solo, but if anyone’s interested, feel free to join!
By the way, this will be my first 100k—my longest ride so far was 57 km, which I did about a month ago.
Christmas is coming and I’m wondering what is the best (on the affordable end) <$500 ish indoor trainer people are using?
Would appreciate some insights, or other suggestions for a cyclist boyfriends Christmas present!
I am looking at the MEC Brand E-Bike but don't really know how to compare it to other E-Bikes. Does anyone have an opinion on it? Help Appreciated.

I was looking at this coat as it's currently on sale on the actual website, but the MEC reviews all talk about how awful it is. I find this surprising because I've seen other reddit posts singing this jacket's praises, so I thought for under $200 it would be great for my commutes in the rain.
What are your thoughts? Any other recco's for the rainy season? I'm gettin' drenched!
My camera doesn't work well at night, but as a follow-up to this post, the sign has been updated. Previously, it directed bikes to continue on the sidewalk. Now it directs them onto the road (and additionally identifies the Sunrise route).
The elephant feet crossing is still relevant, just not for continuing on CVG, because you would use that to turn left onto Sunrise.
This was submitted as an issue on 311, so maybe that actually made the city update it. Or maybe that's just a coincidence.
Saw this beauty on 10th Ave on Sunday.
So I “Doordashed” my own house.
The lack of gratuity is simply insulting! ;)
Are there any subReddit for pelaton canada/bc/vancouver? I could not find any.
Took kid one to Metrotown to pick up a birthday gift for his friend, and to buy him shoes, and on the ride home, he spent 90% of it like this.
I swear this kid can sleep through an earthquake and as long as it’s not noisy, he won’t wake up.
This was the first cold night ride we’ve both been on and I prepared for it clothing wise and illumination wise, with the only lighting challenge being trout lake and forward visibility with my headlight. Otherwise, the basket string light and bright led light strips under the bike definitely brought more visual awareness towards us.
Hi guys! After receiving a $173 transit ticket. I thought I should get a bike instead (I used to bike when I was younger) Any advice you can give me? Clothing wise in this cold weather? I do know that being visible & safety is important. Thanks!!
Also where do you store your bike? I rent in a home so there is no garage for me. I do have room in my kitchen to store my bike or is leaving it locked in the back door safer? Thank you!
so basically, im not a new cyclist. ive been to long rides such as 200km, 300km and i've won a few races before in my country, but ever since i moved here my aunt hasnt been letting me go on a ride by myself because if the "police" spot me outside they would catch me. sounds like bs but idk if its true? just asking
I'm thinking of doing the Whistler Gran Fondo in 2025 (something I always swore I was too smart to do). I'm 50, middling fit (I mountain bike and snowboard a lot). Definitely heavier than I'd like to be (6'2" 100kg or so). Primarily I'd like to get fitter, lose some weight and see if I can do it.
Thanks in advance for your help/advice
Hey everyone! I’m a 44-year-old new road cyclist who’s recently gotten hooked on the sport, and I’m planning to join a Vancouver club in March for regular rides. I’ve done some research and picked out a club known for being inclusive of beginners, but I want to put in the work over the winter so I can show up in decent shape, keep up, and be a positive part of the group rather than slowing things down.
For context, I'm not built like the typical road cyclist - short, broad, muscular, with some extra pounds - more of a natural Olympic Lifter or Wrestler. My Z-FTP and VO2Max are pretty low for my age group, but I’m committed to some serious training in Zwift over the winter.
I’d love any advice on what goals I should aim for to make sure I’m prepared by spring. Should I focus on building endurance to handle a 2-hour flat ride out to Iona Beach comfortably? Or maybe work toward keeping pace on the Spanish Banks incline or up-and-down routes like Horseshoe Bay? Any specific fitness benchmarks, interval suggestions, or insights into training priorities would be awesome.
If anyone here has been in a similar position or has tips for building up cycling fitness in a way that prepares you for VLM group rides, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
Hey Peeps! I’m looking to do long range biking but not racing. Are there any events for that?
Possibly would like to get sponsored in future for bike tours. I’m not interested in racing but would want to focus travelling on bike.
Wanting to brush up on tricks for the next summer and looking for a mulch jump. Sadly the closest thing to that (AirRec) closed down a little while back and there isn't much places for progressing tricks nowadays. If anyone knows a good spot please let me know. The lower mainland of all places should have a place.
Hi, everyone. Long time lurker, first time poster.
I had an interesting interaction with a driver today. I was ahead of the driver, about half a block, signalling that I would turn left into a parking area. I stuck my left hand out, directed straight to my left, for about 2-3 seconds. I make my turn, and get past the parking gate. I hear a voice yell from behind, "That's a right turn signal!" but didn't stop to ask the driver what she meant.
I got into the elevator, hoping that I would encounter the driver and, as luck would have it, I did. I asked her if she was the one who was yelling something at me and she said, "Yes, you were signalling right."
I replied, "No, sticking your left hand directly away from your body to the left is a left turn signal."
She said, "No, that's a right turn," and then she started explain what each one meant but I was in a state of shock. She finished with, "Unless they changed what the signals meant over the years, I'm pretty sure I'm right."
I politely replied with, "Maybe those might be some sort of signal for a right-hand turn somewhere, but I was using my left hand..." and she just got out of the elevator, saying, "Whatever..."
So, I seek assistance from the online collective. If you stick your left hand directly away from your body, what does that signal mean? Am I missing something here?
I ride a portion of Lougheed on my commute daily. Between Madison and Gilmore, due to the construction from the new towers, the westbound bike lake simply disappears with no warning or signage. I've sent an email to the city's engineering department but I'm waiting to hear back.
I'm curious if anyone else has contacted them or knows what's going on with that stretch of road
