Newish mama here, with a six-month old, and really ready to change up the routine. I'd love to find some classes [cardio/strength], that I can bring my little one to with me, and it seems like there aren't that many options for young ones.
A few Mums have said really positive things about "Boxfit Babes", which is a cardio boxing class at Griffins . I have never boxed, but it's intriguing! Has anyone been? Any other favourite classes to share?
Looking for how to get to pool99 or other good swimming spots!
Obviously safety is a huge concern I don’t intend on cliff jumping any 60ft cliffs! But wouldn’t mind to check out the areas that are popular for doing so! Tia
Any tips on best place for daughter to learn how to drive. Any big empty parking lot that’s lit at night time? Centenial Theatre parking lot used to be great.
Did anyone see a mattress incident on the Parkway near Chevron on Saturday around 11am? Wondering what happened.
Please consider showing up to voice support for the STE. Many of us would LOVE to be riding our bikes further east but it's just too scary to do so.

With B.C. getting hotter, the risk of getting dehydration or heat-related illness is also increasing. To stay cool in the heat, Vancouver Coastal Health has put together these resources and tips from HealthLink BC. (Save this post for the future!)
💧 Stay Hydrated
It might seem obvious, but it’s worth repeating: Stay hydrated, even if you’re not feeling thirsty! It’s important to drink plenty of water to avoid heat-related illnesses and heat stroke. If you’re concerned, Healthlink BC has a useful heat-related Illness symptom checker: https://www.healthlinkbc.ca/health-topics/heat-related-illnesses#hw-check-your-symptoms
☃ Places to keep cool
When it's too hot outside, many public places and municipal buildings will offer you a chance to cool down. Local community centers, malls, pools, and libraries usually have air-conditioned areas open to the public. Many communities have waterparks, wading pools and beaches where you can cool down. Local government websites often list community centers, fountains, libraries, swimming pools, water parks, and wading pools.
You can find a list of cooling centres near you at https://www.healthlinkbc.ca/public-health-alerts#area-tab.
🧴 Wear sunscreen!
Put sunscreen on when the UV index is 3 or higher. Use sunscreen labeled “broad spectrum” and “water resistant” with an SPF of at least 30.
🚗 Hot car warning
Don’t leave a child or pet alone in a vehicle in hot weather, even for a few minutes. Leaving the car windows slightly open or "cracked" will not keep the inside of the vehicle at a safe temperature.

ℹ Heat warnings vs Extreme heat emergencies?
As of summer 2023, heat events in B.C. are classified into two categories – a Heat Warning, when conditions are very hot and there is a moderate risk to public health, and an Extreme Heat Emergency, when conditions are dangerously hot and have a very high risk to public health. So what’s the difference?
☀ Heat Warning
A Heat Warning is when daytime and overnight temperatures are higher than usual, but not getting hotter daily. If there is a Heat Warning, you should take steps to stay cool.
🌡Extreme Heat Emergency
An Extreme Heat Emergency is when daytime and overnight temperatures get hotter every day and are well above seasonal norms. Under an extreme heat emergency, ensure you have access to cooler spaces and take steps to limit physical activity in the heat. Check on older or vulnerable people that you know to make sure they are adequately prepared for potentially dangerous temperatures.

Hey r/northvan!
Contemplating if you should get a second dose of the vaccine to protect against mpox (formerly called monkeypox)? The answer is a big yes!
Vancouver Coastal Health is reminding people who are two-spirit, transgender, gay or bisexual, and other men who have sex with men, that getting both doses of the mpox (Imvamune) vaccine is the way to go for stronger and longer-lasting protection against infection.
One of the common signs of mpox is a rash. It usually sticks around for about 2 to 3 weeks and can show up on various parts of your body, such as the genitals, mouth, hands, feet, arms, or legs. The rash goes through different stages, starting as raised spots, then turning into fluid-filled blisters, and finally forming a scab that eventually falls off. Here's a visual example of what mpox sores/blisters can look like over time.
If you happen to experience any mpox symptoms, you can get assessed by your primary care provider, at Sexual Health clinics, at an Urgent and Primary Care Centre, or head straight to the Emergency Department. They'll help you figure out if you need any additional testing or not.
So if it's been at least 28 days since your first dose, it's time to lock in that appointment for your second dose. For those who haven't received their first dose, you can also book an appointment here: https://www.vch.ca/en/service/mpox-vaccinations#wysiwyg--69416
Hi all. Wondering if anyone knows of a source of dry ice here in North Vancouver or closer. Will need to consistently purchase for the next few months for a project?
I love our city and want to contribute more to it by establishing something local to operate. What services or leisure activities are missing? I’m open to anything, just looking to improve our community.
Hi gang:
a few question: any can anyone kindly recommend some reasonably priced interior decorators for my small 1bdrm apt (590sq ft) apt that I'm moving into, please...I'm trying to get ideas for a WFH setup and to expand bdrm closet space....hope this person would also know some better places for quality sofas, lamps too (not top end but not junk either).
also are there any reddit threads for interior designers, as I also have a layout of the place/with video walk thru....hoping even a virtual tour would help
