Hello all,
Any thoughts/input from locals or regular Whistler visitors would be greatly appreciated. I’m looking at booking a 6-7 day stay earlier in the season and wondering if the conditions should be solid enough to get a good Whistler experience without all of the crowds, etc deeper in the season.
I’m also open to coming right after New Years if that might make more sense.
I’m coming from the east coast of the US so it’s a big deal to make the trek. Obviously conditions are always hit and miss but just want to give myself the best opportunity for a powdery, relatively chill trip.
Thanks for any thoughts you have!
I have sat on this for far too long, but i really wanted to work this winter season somewhere in Canada, and can’t find anywhere. The visa application (from UK) wants to know where I will be working, and where I will be living, and the accommodation wants to know what visa I have, but surely theres no point applying for acc until I have a job somewhere?
Gahhh its super frustrating and I wont lie I am feeling super out of my depth. Has anyone got any tips or ideas that might be helpful?
I went to Vallea lumina in the summer and I enjoyed it so much. I want to try it out in winter but I’ll be in Europe. So I’m wondering if anyone knows if there is anything similar to Vallea Lumina? It’s so magical and I imagine it would be prettier in the snow. Anywhere like that in Norway?
Thinking about going to Whistler for this long weekend. It seems it's going to be raining and the mountain is closed. Wondering if the village stores and restaurants will be open ?
Looking to get some action shots of my kids skiing and snowboarding in the month of December. Any suggested photographers? I’ve reached out to a few suggested here but haven’t received too many responses. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you!
I was told that the mountain might open a week early ? Any one know what the open day would be if they do open early. I have a grom that is super jonesing to be there on the first day.
Hi everyone, thanks in advance. I am going to Whistler the first week of December. I am a novice skier and wanted to take two days of ski lessons. Will there be enough snow? Are there backup plans to host the lessons if there isn’t enough snow?
This is my first time at Whistler, so any information would be super helpful.
Thanks
We will be visiting from the U.S. over Thanksgiving. Any ideas where we can get a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
Me and my husband (an avid snowboarder) are taking our two girls (16 and 6) to Whistler for the first time. We live in Alabama, and neither myself or our girls have ever been skiing or snowboarding before. We are going Dec 18-24th. My first goal is to find out what gear we need. We are flying to Vancouver. What kind of boots, gloves, warm gear, clothing etc do we need?? Did I mention thin we live in Alabama?! And any other important items we need to bring or be prepared with …or any other recommendations will be super helpful. Please Help! Give me ALL you’ve got! TIA
Hello fellow ski bums!
My goal is to spend some time in Whistler working as a ski instructor. I have 1,5 seasons of experience as a certified ski instructor in Austria, Europe. Now my big big big dream is to spent this upcoming February and March in the mountains of Whistler.
Because I've never been in Canada before, I am looking for advice on how to get a job at a ski school. Also, if anyone has spend a season up there, please tell more about what the vibes are like for seasonal workers, how it works with getting accomodation etc.
All advice is good advice, thanks!
Taking my 17-year old son up at the end of February. What are the best restaurants/fun spots for teens after a day on the hill?
I’m planning to spend New Year’s Eve in Whistler this year and would love some recommendations.
Are there any NYE events or activities?
Any yummy food spots?
Where’s the best place to celebrate when midnight hits? Any bars or clubs with a fun vibe? Also how is the nightlife scene in general that week?
Thanks so much for any tips!
Need you help please Reddit! I bought my wife a beer mug in September, carried it half way across the world and tonight I went and accidentally smashed it.
She absolutely loved the mug and so I'm feeling really guilty a out it. Hence I'm trying the replace it (without having to travel back from Australia!).
I got it from a gift shop on the Village Stroll. If any of you see it can you please tell me the name of the shop so I can contact them to have one sent?
Reward offered!! 🙏
Looking for the best of the best for custom ski boot fittings. I’ve got extremely wide feet and high arches. I’ve had custom boots made twice in Europe and both times they ended up being average at best.
Looking for recommendations for the best ski boot fitter local to Whistler. Price is less of a concern. Just can’t spend another season cutting my sessions short cause of painful feet.
Cheers.
Wanting to do a hike, yoga, then soak at the spa (scandi), or a similar adventure day. Suggestions for options?
Ideally the hike would be interesting and less than an hour or two, and the 3 locations would be fairly close.
Anyone in a discord for WB or winter sports in general? Just to chat
Looking for some advice on pricing of Whistler lift passes.
I'm travelling from the UK and looking to buy a 6 day lift pass for two adults starting on the 31st of Jan 2025.
I'm using the whistlerblackcomb.com website to do this. There are two different ways of doing this - one where you put in your start date and one where you don't.
When I put in my start date the ticket price jumps from 650 CAD per person (which is about the price I was expecting to pay) to 1674 CAD per person which seems insane.
I can't see any difference in what the tickets give you apart from the more expensive one being partially refundable if you don't use any days. As far as I can see we're not there during peak times so not sure why the price jump.
Can anyone shed some light on this please?
Hey everyone! I’m a local creator working on a self-guided audio tour app, and we recently put together a tour for the Vancouver to Whistler drive along the Sea to Sky Highway. I’ve got a 30-second sample video that shows some of the drone footage and an excerpt from the tour — it’s geared toward tourists now, but I’d love to make it more personal with some local stories that only people here would know!
If you’ve got any interesting history, legends, or even just a good story tied to the spots along the route, I’d love to hear them! The idea is to make this a more unique experience for visitors, and I think some genuine Whistler and Sea to Sky tales could make it a lot more special.
Feel free to message me if you’d like a free code to unlock the tour and try it out for yourself — I’d be so grateful for any input from you all, whether it’s tips, ideas, or feedback on how we can improve the tour to really capture the spirit of our area. Here’s the sample video if anyone’s interested in checking it out!
Thanks so much for any help! 😊
Hi! My brother and I are sending my parents to Whistler for their anniversary, also my aunt and uncle are going. We want to add the vodka tasting experience at Barefoot Bistro to their itinerary we know our folks would love it. I know it’s touristy but I think they will get a kick out of the novelty of the experience.
On the day we want to book it my aunt and uncle will be with them who don’t drink, has anyone done this experience and can you recommend something right next door / walking distance that my aunt and uncle could do for an hour? Would they be able to hang out in the barefoot bistro while our folks do the tasting? The group of four of them will have just come from a day excursion.
Any help would be appreciated. Challenging to plan a 50th wedding anniversary from so many miles away. We just don’t want anything to be awkward or go wrong. It’s hard to picture of the layout of the town when I haven’t been there in 30 years.
Appreciate! Mahalo
i’m heading back to whistler this season and i’ve heard lots 4-5 are now 10$ a day??? are lots 6-7-8 still free? is creekside still free? i’m young and on a very tight budget, is it still possible to not pay for parking?
I had the ULLR iPhone app and had to wipe my phone recently and lost it. I tried to redownload it but it looks like the app is no longer maintained by the developer and is no longer available on the app store (also read something online where the developer mentioned this). I read something about how you can still access the offline copy of the map via Avenza maps but I couldn't find it on there. If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated.
I see that they have the map still accessible via a website but hoping to get an offline copy since it's more reliable to use.
I can't find a definitive answer from any recent season - does Whistler do any deals on passes come Black Friday, multi-day or otherwise? Thanks!
edit: Thanks people. Not surprised, I guess. Down here in WA, quite a few of our hills offer Black Friday deals, so I'm trying to consider where and when to spend this year (first year without a 'local' pass - Indy Pass & day tix only).
After inputting my email and phone #, the continue button hasn't actually made me continue onto the next page. I could not find any information about this issue and the support bot was incredibly useless. Has anyone else had this issue?
Absolutely gutted that the Whistler village grocery store no longer has those big tubs of Hornby energy balls. Those things were the frickin bee’s knees.
Hello!
My husband and I (both 33) will be coming to Whistler (from Australia) for the start of our Honeymoon trip (heading to Vegas after Whis) so we’re after some recommendations on what to do!
Bonus points for some Vancouver suggestions too!
I should also mention I did work in Whistler for a couple seasons but that was a good 11 years ago now so I’m sure things have changed! Haha
We’re in Vancouver for 2 nights before going to Whistler for 7 nights. We got a 4 day ski pass so we have some days to chill/do some touristy things.
What are the best things to do these days? What comes to mind are the below but totally happy for any / all other suggestions!
Oh I’d love suggestions on the food/bar places to check out. We’re not super foodie people but we enjoy decent food, I think we’d try book somewhere for Christmas Eve to make it special.
I remember Dusty’s used to be good and also longhorns for apres, still good? We do like to drink but I’m not sure we’d go as far as heading to moe joes if that’s even still a thing haha
Thank you!
Hi all sorry I know this is a cypress question but there's way more people here than in the Cypress group and I know most people goto both mountains, so hopefully someone can help me here!
M looking at purchasing lift tickets for my kiddo 2/17-2/21 and I saw the SkyCards, which is supposed discounted, at $182 for 5 days. But if I just purchase the tickets individually, 1 for each of the 5 days, the total is only $135?? Am I missing something? Or that's just the case with kid's and I am better off just buying 5 individual tickets?
I checked the multi-day youth camps and none of the dates work for us, we can only do 2/17-2/21. But I somehow found the 'group lessons' here with the link that's really tucked away, but it seems to let me pick any dates. Does this actually work, and something would I just buy 5 different group lessons for each day of the week? Since it only lets me pick a start date and not an 'end date'?
Thank you all!!!
Unless it's by design, the old system was way, way better. You could actually get information from them rather than random shots looking around the hill.
here's what we're getting now vs before:
instead of showing a lineup at Creekside we get a new angle with a view into people's apartments.
a snowstake that no longer has a proper timelapse feature.
whacked out blackcomb cam that looks like it's being operated by an 8 year old on adderall.
no more timestamps on the cameras.
I'll take a grainy lower resolution which actually gives you information over these. I miss the old system.
My son and I will be there in late February. Planning on renting stuff since we’re on the east coast and our stuff is more suitable for the crappy ice fields here. I ski (intermediate); he snowboards (crazy fool). What’s the best place to arrange equipment rentals that deliver to our hotel in the village—and should we bring our own boots or not?
