One of the wildest walks along the boardwalk today! Hope everyone is safe and warm
I run a small painting company with 8 years of experience in the this line of work. Its little slow looking for some work to fill the dates.
hey! my boyfriend is feeling a little cooped up these past few weeks and is saying we should get out of the house tonight. What do you suggest? Somewhere to grab a drink? Something to do? Comedy? Arcade?
it's last minute yeah but give me some quick ideas before he drives me nuts haha
Is anyone else very bummed that the front street closure got extended until march 2025? I have to commute daily towards victoria hill and a drive that should be 8 minutes can be upwards to 20. Columbia is complete gongshow and all the drivers are angry and aggressive. i was anxiously awaiting for December 17th for front to open and things to go back to normal - and now this surprise extension
Why did new west wait until 4 days before the opening to announce it will take another 3 months? that doesn't make sense. zero transparency. It's things like that make me regret moving to new west - poor infrastructure and nothing seems easy or enjoyable.
I don’t know where to post this..? lol
It’s another dark time for me again. I’m a mom who has feelings and gets hurt. But no one cares. Her dad is selfish only thinks of himself. I ended up having some drinks tonight. I just feel so alone. I have no one. No friends or family who I can trust to talk to. I’m not sure why I’m making this post..?
Has anyone been hearing the car noises along Mowat Street? Its been happening every hour and gets annoying.
Not only are you bringing holiday cheer, you're helping pedestrians like me navigate low visibility roads (especially when there's fog or heavy rain).
Jumping here to shout out my appreciation for Yoga at the Quay. This amazing gem of a studio is an inclusive, one of a kind studio that not only provides yoga (and pilates, block therapy & kirtan) that is therapeutic and free of pretentiousness. Its a great place to move your body while connecting with your community.
I am in no way affiliated with the studio just a big fan who has hugely benefited from a space to breathe and move my body and let go of all the stress of this modern world.
Maybe I’ll meet you at the studio someday 😊🧡🙏🏻

Hi everyone! My partner and I are going to book a viewing for a place pretty close to Brunette Ave.
We are conscious about the train noise - not overly sensitive we don’t have any kids - but it’s a basement suite so we sort of want to see what the sound might be like inside the house. Soundproofing is not equal.
Is there a time of day that would work well to hear a train go by? Is it too inconsistent? Am I overly concerned about nothing? We live near a fire hall now so some noise is not a big deal but trains are their own beast.
Thanks so much!
Hi everyone!
I am currently living in coquitlam but am looking to buy a place soon. (We are a couple under 30, would likely adopt pets after moving, no plan for child)
Recently, I have been checking out the new built Pier West at 680 Quayside Dr and I really like the view they have! Commute seems nice too with walkable distance to sky train and easy access to highways.
We are concerned about the noise tho as the train tracks are literally just downstairs. Does anyone live there/ in that area? How’s the noise in general? I am thinking if we live above the 20th floor maybe it will not be so bad?
TIA.
I cannot find a valid email address for her constituency office on the bc government directory, and the website linked to the google maps location is out of date. Is there an email address to contact her at?
Not so good news for anyone else living on or near Royal, with the constant din of fully-laden trucks struggling up the incline, or those who have to contend with the traffic hellscape that it becomes in the afternoon. I don't think it comes as a surprise that the closure has been extended for another 3 months, based on the time scale of all other delays on the project. It does mean though that with snow arriving in the coming weeks, it'll make for an even nastier route.
I've been trying to book a swimming lesson for months now. The fall-winter season was fully booked, so I waited for the winter-spring season to open, only to find that it was already fully booked too. At this rate, it feels impossible to get a spot. Does anyone have advice on how to secure lessons? Should I just look for private tutor?
If you're looking to make new friends, meet some people on a sunday night in new westminster. Where can you go?
Compass card wedged into the bench at 18th street and 8th avenue 128-braid bus stop.
Kudos to our very own NW Councillor Paul Minhas for coming in the Record's A-List 2nd most popular politician in New West.
Paul also came in #2 as the most popular business person in the Royal City. Well done and we are confident in 2025 he will take the top spot in both categories!
Looking for a clothing recycling bin around NW or actually anywhere. Any still exists? there used to be one on Schoolhouse in Coquitlam, but now its gone. Thanks.
I’m wondering if anyone else has received any unordered items from DoorDash today or recently. I received a paper bag with a Walmart card stapled to it and inside was a single Caramilk bar. It also mentioned a free survey. But there was nothing else in the bag and no code to scan anywhere. No one knows my address and this just feels really weird.
Some good pubs or pool and billiards place in New West? More like for a date
Looking to rent a condo and the bosa pier west towers on the quayside looks attractive with nice views and amenities.
But how solid is its construction ? I know its constructed on the pier with piles. But can it withhold the weight on the loose sand and increased water flow on the Fraser river ? Heard there was a controversy ?
Looking for recommendations from people around here
To The 2 parties involved in an accident at 7:45pm off the pattullo bridge heading into new west. I witnessed that. I didn’t think to stop and give yall my contact info for witness. But if you need one I guess dm me!
A few months ago, I was approached by two women, probably between 23–28 years old. This happened near Safeway in downtown. I’m not sure how we got into discussing religion, but one of them asked for my number to grab coffee. They originally approached me to ask where I got my tote bag from. However, my tote was pretty gross-looking, and it was really dark out, so I was a little suspicious. Still, I gave them the benefit of the doubt since I didn’t feel scared, and there were lots of people walking nearby.
The second time, it happened inside Safeway. It started the same way—only one girl and she asked about my outfit, then claimed she felt like she had seen me somewhere before. She asked about religion and then asked for my number to attend some Christian-related show.
Has this been happening to anyone else?
Side note: I am religious, but not the kind that randomly approaches ppl and asks about ppl’s faith lol. To each their own. No one should feel pressured to join anything.
