Cannabis stores Victoria

I’m moving to Victoria from Nanaimo, and currently I use the green coast dispensary in lantzville for my edibles. I get a good amount for a decent price since it’s on indigenous land.

I’m trying to find a store in Victoria that essentially I can do the same with. I’ve tried using google, and the closest one I found was in mill bay, but that can’t be right? Victorias huge. Especially if you include spoke in that.

Anyone know of a good indigenous cannabis store outside government regulation in Victoria or sooke area?

Anywhere for Bungee Jumping

Is there anywhere on the Island to go Bungee Jumping?

It's impossible to get to and from Whistler in one day without flying and/or rushing and just won't be a fun relaxing, or affordable day lol

We've got a big group that wants to go and we can't all afford to commute or stay overnight.

If not bungee jumping, is there a decent adrenaline activity for adults somewhere on the Island?

Arts-based research opportunity: Contraceptive care

Hi all --

I am a PhD candidate at UBC's School of Nursing and am conducting this research as a part of my dissertation. We are interested in understanding more about the way that we talk about contraceptives and how that might impact contraceptive care. At this time, we are recruiting cisgender women and people who can get pregnant to participate in arts-based research to discuss their experiences with controlling their fertility and/or contraceptive care. Participants will be asked to create a collage related to contraceptive care and experiences which will then guide a one on one virtual interview. Supplies for the collage can be mailed. An honorarium is provided

Please see the attached poster for more information regarding inclusion criteria and what to do if you are interested. If you have any further questions, please contact me at kermar@student.ubc.ca

Please note: We are also recruiting health care providers that currently prescribe contraceptives in British Columbia. If you are interested in participating as a health care provider, please see the following link.

Feels Colder than Mainland?

I have a question which is kinda silly but I want to know if others feel the same way, even though the temperature is technically warmer here (lower island) than the mainland (okanagan) why does it feel colder?

Is it the constant wind? Being by the ocean? Am I crazy and do you guys feel it’s warmer? I’m not sure but I lived in the okanagan for years and usually never felt that cold but I’m already getting cold here and it’s barely fall.

Opinions? Answers? Thanks.

Anyone have info about RTV on shaw?

My family and I staying in a hotel in comox, and we stumbled on channel 4 on shaw cable (we don't have cable at home). It looks like a local Vancouver island channel (currently broadcasting Cumberland city council). We live in Nanaimo, and are always looking for island based content, but I can't find anything searching "RTV". Does anyone know anything more about this channel? Any info is appreciated

Skeleton tipping is the new pumpkin smashing?

Someone tipped over and broke our 12ft home depot skeleton tonight. I'm so bummed.

I saved up for 2 years to buy him because we have a spooky looking house on the corner of a busy main artery. We get so much love for the skeleton, notes in the mailbox and passerbys taking pictures and telling us how much they love it and sharing they're excited to see it up again. Kids stop and scream with parents and our toddler loves him too.

Tonight I heard a bang and looked outside to see him smashed over on the lawn, decapitated where his head hit the house. Someone removed the boulders from the base and pushed him backwards into our house, bending the base supports and smashing his head and arms off.

I'm so sad and disappointed that someone would do this. I made a police report for mischief under 5000. Our doorbell camera battery died today so we don't have footage of the incident. Either way, I know there is nothing I can do. He lasted 3 seasons before this. Any advice and well wishes are appreciated. It's a spooky rainy night and I'm feeling so sad.

Community-Oriented, Family-Friendly places on Vancouver Island

Hi everyone, my husband and I are moving from Prince George to Vancouver Island next year and are looking for feedback from locals/people who've moved there. He grew up near Sidney when he was small, but we no longer can afford Sidney. We work in healthcare, and want to start a family soon. We likely won't need daycare, but children's programming and schools are important to us. We are looking to buy a detached house next year in a community-oriented, family-friendly city. We've looked at these places and considering each:

  • Duncan

  • Nanaimo

  • Ladysmith

  • Colwood

  • Courtney

  • Comox

  • Sooke

We love the outdoors (big into hiking, surfing, beaches), but don't like Prince George due to remoteness, conservative culture, and most of all, the pulp mill (we will not be moving to Crofton lol). We enjoy sports (he plays hockey and soccer), recreational activities (we're taking ballroom dance lessons in Prince George currently), farmer's markets, community events (i.e. parades, terry fox runs, this sort of stuff...) and going out for dinner/concert/movies/breweries occasionally.

Thank you so much in advance, we appreciate your feedback!
