Hey Pemby Redditors.
Over this past weekend I was camping up at Birkenhead Lake with my partner and dog. I brought up a disposable camera with me that I am sure we lost on our final night there (July 7).
The photos on there would mean a lot to me as I had brought it on a trip to New York. I'm based out of Vancouver so it'll be a bit of a trek (though I'm debating the drive up over the weekend).
If anyone is up there and spots a Fujifilm Quick snap Disposable Camera, please let me know! I'm quite certain that it fell out of our backpack while doing the last 1/4 of the Birkenhead Lake Loop (lake side). We were about to take a picture there when we realized we had no more film left and that was the last time I saw it.
I've also submitted and lost form with the provincial campsite.
Picture of my dog taken of my phone for fun!
Hey Pemberton!
Local resident doctor and longtime redditor working here in Vancouver/Burnaby/New West. We've been hearing a ton about the significant shortage of family docs in BC right now, which is putting a lot of pressure on people of all ages to manage their health on their own.
While DEFINITELY not a replacement, UBC Med Students and Resident Doctors in the lower mainland, Victoria, Kelowna, and Prince George have put together a new 1-on-1 free online lifestyle medicine / health coaching program to support people working towards healthier lifestyles who might otherwise not have access to such support! It's called PLM Coach (stands for Prevention & Lifestyle Medicine). It's science-based - we actually did a research study of the program among older adults during COVID!
If you know anyone looking to work with someone to improve their health (particularly older adults living with health challenges or chronic conditions), feel free to send them to plmcoach.ca to see if it might help out! The coaches are super passionate, and would love to connect.
Take care and be well!
Hi, my husband and I are going to be spending a week in beautiful Pemberton as part of a holiday to Canada for the first time. It will be late September. Any tips for anywhere we should definitely go?
We would love tips for veggie food and outdoor activities that aren't too intense (I'm pregnant).
Thank you in advance! :)
I'm eloping in Pemberton in September and want to meet family after for a private event. Ideally this would be from 8:00 - midnight and dinner would be served. There are not many late-night dinner options available. Sunstone Golf Club asked I call in August to see if they can put together something. Open to small reception venues in Whistler as well (13 people total).
Researchers from the University of Victoria are inviting British Columbians who live in rural and remote communities to take part in an online survey examining how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted their wellbeing.
The survey is open to anyone who lives in a rural and/or remote community in British Columbia (population under 10,000), is 18 or older, and can complete an online questionnaire in English. We encourage individuals of diverse ages and backgrounds to share their experiences so that our survey results can reflect the voices of rural and remote residents and speak to their needs during these unprecedented times.
The survey takes around 15-30 minutes to complete and can be accessed by clicking here: https://uvic.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0TyTVnZhSwjSDAO
Participants will be entered into a draw to win one of several cash prizes, up to $500.
Are you 18 years or older? We are currently conducting a study to examine the many faces of parental separation. We are interested in the effects of prolonged absence from one or both parents. If you participate you will be asked to complete an online survey which will ask questions about separations from parents from birth to high school and surveys to assess your view of your relationships with your parents, friends and partners.
We just got back from picking up our house keys in pemby! We will be officially relocated on the 26th. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations on hikes, stuff to do, things to see etc. also what’s the cheapest store for groceries!
If anyone wants to hit the mountain, skatepark or go for a beer let me know.
Does anyone have any intel as to access to the hot springs this time of year? I realize that the Lilloet FSR is closed this time of year, but it must be straight forward to get to either Keyhole or Meager Creek hotsprings with a sled provided the snow conditions are decent.
Is the “highline” road from D’Arcy to Seton Portage passable right now?
What about the Hurley to Gold Bridge?

Since Lytton is like 87 km away from Pemberton, is Pemberton in risk of the fire spreading to them? How's the air quality in Pemberton?
Does anyone know if they are open or accessible? Which one do you prefer and why?
Me and a few friends want to do some outdoor camping next month in the area and thought Sloquet or Skookumchuck hotsprings would be best to visit. We are from South interior BC and aren't familiar with the region so any advice, directions or fun-facts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

While I know things have been tense between S2S and Vancouver region during COVID, I'm really interested to see what members of the Pemberton community think! During our research we identified a strong connection between the draw of events across this region, I would love to find a way to make events better and more accessible to everyone in the region, so weather or not you agree with anything I've said I would still love to hear your input on the matter : ) Thank you for your time!
Especially past the Joffre Lakes portion. Why so much?
My partner and I are moving into The Glen housing area and wondering what options for home internet we have in Pemby other than Shaw and Telus for a good price?
Looking for at least 75/10 speeds. So far I've found TekSavvy for $69.95/month (150/15), UniServe for $53.99/month (75/75) and Surf Internet for $49.99/month (100/10)
Any recommendations or personal experiences?
Cheers!
Looking to make a group for Valorant as there isn't a West Coast group set up so if your interested in the game or finding people to play hit me up!!! Please share and help spread the word so we can get this message everywhere!! Looking to set up a west coast PR and host regional skrims and tournaments!!
Please don't kill me, just looking for advice! I live in Whistler (have done for years), I had a van trip lined up for this dead season which is now dead in the water, for obvious reasons. Anyways, I would love to dust off the old girl and do a night or 2 in Lillooet. I know all parks, campsites etc are closed until at least May end. Are there areas outside of that a man and his van may be able to spend a night?
Me and my fiancé are thinking about moving to Canada (possibly hopefully within a year) and wondering what's it like living in Pemberton hopefully for a long term. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Hey Pemberton, thought I'd share my podcast with you.
It's called The Perri Platform and my goal is making it easier for Canadians (particularly young people) to keep up with news and politics.
As a student, it felt like my peers were growing more interested in these topics so I figured I should address that somehow. I try to differentiate my show via short episodes, a personable tone and sharing my opinions which aren't heavily polarized in one direction.
Currently, I'm on episode 18 and release new content every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. If you'd like to check it out, I have some links at the bottom.
