Just wanted to know where is family washroom or single washroom for one.
I missed the events earlier this week because of midterms, are there anymore events at burnaby campus tomorrow?
Also anyone else dressing up tomorrow? Unfortunately my costume is pretty incomplete without the fake gun, but I don't want to cause another police incident, so I'll just go without it.

^ if anyone has this text, please help! I need it for an essay next week (T_T)
I don't really want to go yet, there's still some (undergraduate level) courses I want to take beyond meeting my graduation requirements (120 credits, prerequisites). Will SFU force me to graduate and leave?
i've been having the worst group project experience this semester. during the first lecture our prof said that we should be getting started on the project at that time, but that the project is gonna be completely asynchronous and its the students' responsibility to get in touch, with no progress check-ins or anything. my group has literally been ghosting me this entire time. group projects already suck because the quality of work can be tanked by others but in this case they're literally not communicating with me, not contributing, not having open discussions about the project etc. its due next week and two people still havent even opened the group doc. and i spoke to my prof if i could have my work individually evaluated because of the circumstances, and made it clear i wasn't just complaining about poopoo group members but that they're actually negligent, and she said theres nothing that can be done. i guess it was kinda expected. how do people even get this far in uni without putting in a little effort?
In a previous post, a human being generalized a whole race of people and was bitching about them. I have also seen a bunch of racist comments against Indians on this sub Reddit. I really hope sfu takes action against these people. It’s really so disgusting how this country treats people that look like me. I pay a hefty amount of money to be here. In an educational institute like this, you would hope that people would be a little more educated, but they aren’t. Safe to say they’re wasting their/their parents money.
are there any charging plugs in lecture halls? i have a laptop with a battery that drains pretty fast so just wondering :)
How did everyone find the exam? I’m 100% sure that I failed.
i lost the key to my room at the sfu fortune event, i got a spare key from housing for three days so i tried making a copy of it but Walmart and Home depot couldnt do it. Housing says if you lose your key you have to pay 200$ cause they gotta change the whole lock??
Absolutely BOMBED my midterm yesterday and wanted to know what the avg is for this class. Also are marks scaled up?
Any response is much appreciated👍
I've tried using my phone, my laptop, but nothing is working. This is so annoying. Usually it's not this complicated. Am I the only one ?
Edit : Just saw another post about this. Why is quorum not ready at 5:30, the time what you guys literally chose to start the meeting ? What was the point of telling everyone to join if you guys were going to be late ? I don't get it.
I’m a little apprehensive posting about a professor but I doubt my 40+ year old prof regularly uses Reddit. Also, it’s nothing super serious.
I was talking to my prof about why I’d missed classes and tests (I had a doctors note handed in the days I was missing yadda yadda) and explaining that I’d been having some recurring health problems and despite many many tests I’ve got no clear results. I was asking if there was anything I could do or if there was any help to be offered.
Responses I was expecting:
The response I got: An (at least) ten minute long spiel about how the paleo diet would solve all my health problems. Also gluten and sugar are evil. Ignore your concerns and go paleo!
To clarify, this is not a professor in anything health-related either.
This then morphed into another slightly shorter speech about how I should quit my job or not be a full time student. I tried to explain I could not do that and she told me that I shouldn’t be a full-time student, then.
I wasn’t personally offended by anything she said, but it made me rather uncomfortable as I have some personal issues with food and I was already having a rough day and I just started crying as she continued to go on about paleo and how “according to evolution” it was the only/best option for humans. She did not acknowledge the tears which honestly I’m thankful for. I have never been so embarrassed in my life.
I don’t think I plan on doing anything with this story other then telling my friends as a weird/funny story but I did want to get some other opinions on it if anyone had some thoughts about this.
hoping for a new group 🙏
Anyone got any advice for the exam? Or the previous exam

Hi everyone, one of my friends lost their AirPods Pro (case and buds) in C9001 this afternoon in the 3:30 lecture. Has anyone seen a pair like that and by chance taken it to lost and found or something? Find My is showing no change. Thanks.
On October 25th, Dr Lilac Marom and Dr Ania Switzer hosted a remote workshop titled "Advancing antisemitism education in the classroom: Navigating tensions and promoting inclusivity" which encourages educators to uphold the colonial state of Israel and support Zionism. This workshop was part of SFU’s teaching program for future Elementary and Secondary teachers (PDP Program) for how to teach antisemitism in the classroom. Their presentation and the resource they use from "Project Shema" fully supports Zionism and Israel. It is absolutely outrageous that SFU hosted this workshop.
I do not have access to a recording of the Oct 25th workshop, but you can view this video from Dr Marom (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQbGiySUetM) that they assigned us to watch, and below I've listed and summarized a few quotes from the Project Shema document (https://www.projectshema.org/k-12-admin-resource) that we were told to read, but I encourage reading it in full:
It’s outrageous that SFU is encouraging teachers to support Zionism and uphold the state of Israel. In the PDP program, we are mainly focusing on Canada’s Indigenous history and working towards ways to decolonize our thinking: supporting Israel goes directly against these teachings. SFU's efforts towards decolonization are completely undone if this is the outlook they want us to have on the genocide of Palestinians.
TLDR: SFU held a workshop for PDP students that openly supports Israel and encourages Zionism
I was just offered admission to SFU and have been doing my research (mainly Apple Maps) on my most efficient and cost effective route to commute to the SFU Burnaby campus. (Car being most expensive yet fastest at around 30-45min one way, transit at 50-1h10 one way but cheapest).
Wondering how anyone else from Langley commutes to and from and what your experience has been like? How reliable have the transit times been for you? Also what your thoughts are regarding scheduling classes around the commute?
Thanks in advance
Hello, can I get some recommendations for an upper division electives with 4 units? I have to take a 4unit Ud class and it’s my last sem. Any advice helps! Thanks
Looking for participants for a South Asian Adult Children of Alcoholics for a Masters thesis research study.
I'm looking for individuals within Canada who are South Asian Adult Children of Alcoholics for my Masters thesis research study. Therefore, I'm hoping to post on this forum to gain participants. I've attached a brief description of my study.
"I am conducting a research study exploring the experiences of South Asian ACoAs (Adult Children of Alcoholics) and the meaning they associate with alcoholism. I am seeking to interview individuals raised in South Asian households with an alcoholic parent or one who misused alcohol, to better understand the cultural and mental health dynamics involved.
If you know anyone who may be interested in participating, I am looking for South Asian ACoAs who:
Identify as South Asian and were raised in a South Asian household.
Lived with a parent who struggled with alcoholism or alcohol misuse.
Are 19 years or older.
Are fluent in English for a 1-2 hour online interview.
Participation is voluntary, and participants can withdraw at any time. If interested, please contact me at Shobia.vaseeharan@mytwu.ca or 604 446 5229."
Thank you so much.

Trying to get my schedule all neat and tidy
Taking PSYC 102 as my first PSYC course works better than anything else. On the course description, it says taking PSYC 100 first is recommended but not necessarily required.
I’m still planning on taking PSYC 100 either next year or in the summer, just wanted to know if it really matters in anyone’s experience so I don’t f- up my schedule again…
Any tips on how to study or information on what it’s like
The last day to drop a course through goSFU/mySchedule this term with no questions asked is today, Tuesday, October 29 (https://www.sfu.ca/students/deadlines/fall.html). Dropping it now will not refund you, but it'll make a WD show up on transcript for the course grade, which won't affect GPA and won't count towards course repeats.
After the 29th, dropping a course will require you to apply for withdrawal under extenuating circumstances (https://www.sfu.ca/students/appeals/withdrawals.html), which they won't accept without good reason.
I was applying to the SFU School of Computing Science and all of a sudden the links for the Master of Cybersecurity or the entire MPCS page is redirecting to www.sfu.ca/fas/study/future-graduates/ for no reason. It is not allowing me to see the details of the programs within the Masters in Professional Computer Science. Anybody kindly help, was there supposed to be an update to the website today? As soon as I paid the application fee, this happened. Until then if anybody knows whom to address in the letter of recommendation for Master of Cybersecurity program application, I have to let my professors know!!!
