Should I be studying all day or just a light review to I don’t cause burnout? Really need help!
I’m starting FIC UTP Stage 1 this January, and I need to take MTH 101 as a prerequisite for MATH 157 in UTP Stage 2. However, I’m genuinely concerned because math has always been a weak spot for me—I’ve consistently struggled with it during high school and didn’t perform well in my exams. Honestly, I’m really scared of failing here.
If anyone could share study materials, notes, or resources for MTH 101 and MATH 157, I’d greatly appreciate it. I’m hoping to get a head start and better understand what I’ll be up against.
Thanks in advance for your help!
im second on the waitlist for a course which currently is at 26/30. i know that it has 20 spaces reserved for the ppl in that major but i thought that once open enrollment starts it lets everyone join it? or am i wrong?
Hello, I took down the post of the boys’ face bc of the police. It’s been difficult to focus and study on anything from the amount of comments I’ve gotten. One of the things the police officer said was that the parents are worried about their son’ faces being out there and the amount of physical threats they’ve recieved. I’m reuploading as I think it’s important for my story to be heard and remembered and not forgotten as I felt pressure to remove it.
Today (nov 24,2024) I was walking in the AQ when by AQ3033 I see 4 boys, smoking marijuana and vaping, blowing their smoke in the air. I dont say anything and just continued to walk when one of them said "yeah keep your head down you dumb bch" , instinctively I said "Que" (what in portuguese) to which they said "look at this dumb broad , she cant even speak English" and started clucking at me like a chicken. I confronted the boys about their behaviour where they proceeded to call me more sexist slurs (bch, Cnt, slt, whre) and kept on saying they could "take me and my big mouth to the stairwell and fuck me up so easy and nobody would even know what would happen to me"/ "it would be so easy to 4v1 this stupid btch" / "we'd fuck her up so good she wouldn't even be able to walk afterwards" . I reported this to campus security and the company couldn't allow them to do anything to the boys except ESCORT THEM OFF CAMPUS! I am furious! I shouldnt ever feel unsafe on campus , especially when I am minding my own buissness. No actions of discipline were taken against these boys and they have MULTIPLE INFRACTIONS AGAINST THEM ( the most recent one being yesterday (Nov 23, 2024) according to a Sfu security guard. I was fortunate enough to take a photo of these teenage boys but I am LIVID how NO CONSEQUENCES WERE GIVEN!!!
Anyone take Phil 120 with mr.black and have any study tips for the final?
It’s absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable behaviour on their end and I hope they get what they ultimately deserve from all their antics. At the same time, it makes me wonder if their parents even care about them at all to let them go and do this without any care. Their parents need to do a better job managing these idiots and not let them go and cause problems that will only get them harsher punishments in the future. I honestly feel bad (I know, this sounds crazy) for the teens because their parents are clearly neglecting them to allow this kind of behaviour.
I do at the same time think there is only so much the parents can do and we don’t know the full story, but these kids need to smarten up quick. I genuinely hope these kids can learn something from this whole ordeal and change because the punishment is only going to get more harsh as an adult.
Just creating a thread for this year’s application to the education programs because I haven’t seen one yet!
I have a question about the PDP lab course question. The pre-reqs asks for one lab science course out of these courses: BISC 100, 101, 102 SCI 192 CHEM 111,120+125, 121, 122+126 PHYS 101+132, 102+133, 120+132, 121+133, 125+132, 190 GEOG 111, EASC 101, 210, EVSC 305. Do they still offer SCI 192 at SFU? I assume that that one would be best since it’s designed for people planning to do pdp? I don't see a course outline for SCI 192 online so just wondering if they still offer it?
The SFU website lists the ENSC co-op advisors with the rooms L9005-L9009 and I need to meet them this Monday. Are they typically in their offices?
Here is the page I am referencing.
Thank you
I'm sosososo busy this upcoming week and have no clue if the 1-2 days of studying have before the final is enough to pass. Thankfully, my past two midterms have been in the high 80s and 90s, and my quizzes and homework have been pretty good, so even if flunked the final and failed, i'd 'technically' still pass. However, I've been hearing that if that one were to fail the final, they would fail the whole course... Is that true? Before someone tells me to read the syllabus, I did - it doesn't detail any specific conditions about it. Ive just been hearing a lot of people talk and idk if it's just something you're just supposed to know... Thank you in advance to anyone who can answer!
How cooked am I? I’m about to fail my second accounting course. GPA is still above 3.30 though even after the F. Will employers disqualify me for coop? Can’t retake the class next term either because it’s not offered…
Hi everyone, I need to decide between these two courses since I need them for my BScience Requirements, please I really need help its my last semester at SFU, and I would like to improve my GPA, it would be really appreciated.
looking for some opinions for those who have TA-ed courses at Beedie. Can you still TA after you graduate with your BBA?
I’d prefer to TA a class where I just grade and not have to sit in the class.
Thanks!
to the goons going around harassing custodial staff and students, your life is a fucking joke. our custodial staff already have to deal with so much and they don’t need ur harassment on top of it. you are not welcome here and i sincerely hope u get curb stomped. have fun getting a criminal record and ur life getting ruined. thank u to the student that stood up. u did the right thing and we are all supporting u.
disgusting how everyone is blatantly lying on the news and to police
Has anyone here taken Gerontology 101? How was it?
https://vancouver.citynews.ca/video/2024/11/29/sfu-students-are-calling-out-harassment-on-campus/
"Students at SFU say they are being harassed repeatedly by a group of local youths. They are calling on the university to do more about it. Lauren Stallone reports."
My first sem at SFU is next month. A course that aligns better with my schedule opened up to a wait list and position 18/20 (not a tutorial). I am currently waitlisted in a course of equal difficulty in spot 3/5 (tutorial). You can only wait list in two courses at a time and I am at two.
Would you drop the 3/5 and take the chance with the 18/20 that gives you a nicer schedule? What’s the likelihood of getting in?
How do i do it? I see there are drug coverage. I get my prescriptions from shopper drug mart, what do i need to do?
Hey yall, I was looking at my post grad prerequisite courses and it said I needed any 3 credits in a STAT course. My current major doesn't have a STAT course in the program requirements so I need to take this course as an elective. I was wondering what is the easiest STAT course I could take? Thanks!!
My friend is currently sitting at an 88% overall in the course, but they had a failing grade on their midterm. But their other assignments and such has made up for the relatively bad MT grade.
In the CMPT 120 course overview it states that “Students must attain an overall passing grade on the weighted average of exams in the course in order to obtain a clear pass (C- or better)”.
So, I was wondering if anyone has actually been failed for this reason. Because my friend will be at an overall passing grade, but their combined exam averages will most likely be slightly below passing.
I don’t quite get how they can fail a student who passes overall, but did mediocre to bad on the exams, because they still technically passed?
Hi, I'm a recent SFU Grad (finished spring 2024) and have still been submitting my counselling statements to PAC Blue Cross under my account with the SFU policy number. I'm still being reimbursed despite not being enrolled in any Summer or Fall courses. Can anyone explain why this is? I don't want to ruin a good thing by asking too many questions, but I also don't want this to bite me in the arse later. The best guess I have is that the policy covers all students until they turn 2025 (which I am not)
Any insight into this would be great; thanks!
next semester im taking BUS 251, Math 157 Econ 113 BUS 272 and GEOG 104. It's my second semester for context, I was just wondering if 251 and 157 together is too much and I know there are way harder course loads but I'm not that hard-working so please let me know.
anyone got offers for spring term yet?
Just a heads up, some staircases in the WMC parkade have raccoon shit everywhere. Just be careful that you don’t step on it while going down. Almost did myself.
On a side note, it’s super funny how the raccoon stepped in its own shit and left its little paw prints everywhere lol.
Hello, everyone. I'm applying for the PDP for elementary education in the upcoming years. I am currently doing my undergrad at KPU and have what I'd say are a decent GPA and work experience hours. I've read a lot on the websites, but one concern came up. Do all 120 credits of my degree need to be transferable to SFU/UBC in order to be admitted, or is it enough that KPU is an accredited university? I currently have a couple of classes that don't have equivalents and come up as 0 credits.
I know this is late but can anyone recommend GPA boosting courses to take? Thank you 🙏🏽
Hi...I see in the SFU PDP Requirements that:
Elementary applicants must have completed at the time of application (January), a minimum of 90 units of courses acceptable for credit at Simon Fraser University, and it must include the following prerequisite courses either in-progress or complete:
