Assuming the Yankees put Beli in the outfield with Judge and Dominguez
Who are the ideal remaining targets to fill the infield positions
Personally I want us to sign Christian Walker as long as the deal isn’t longer then 3 years and a 3b to slide Jazz over to second I like Arenado if we can get him for Stroman
We can then field a very well rounded lineup with gold glovers at 2 infield positions, 3 MVPS, and 3 players with Home run titles
If you read the article, doesn't sound great, actually. But surely the Yankees couldn't be dumb enough to have not checked in with Stanton first?
First post here so I’d like to say hello to everyone. I’ve been reading some other posts and articles around the web about what the Yankees will possibly do next but some of them seem unrealistic.
With that being said I wanted to ask y’all what you think the Yankees will do to fill the gaps before opening day. Could we see another big bullpen arm signing in Tanner Scott? Will they go for another big name on a shorter term deal to fill 1B or 3B?
As a bonus add your wish list for less than likely scenarios for fun.
The Yankees appear increasingly likely to go with a more inexpensive option at first base than Alonso or Walker, according to sources briefed on their pursuits.
The free-agent alternatives include Paul Goldschmidt, Carlos Santana, Justin Turner, Anthony Rizzo and Josh Bell. The Yankees also could trade for the Cleveland Guardians’ Josh Naylor ($12 million in final year of club control); Texas Rangers’ Nathaniel Lowe ($10.7 million with one year of arbitration remaining); or the Tampa Bay Rays’ Yandy Díaz ($10 million with a $12 million club option for 2026).
One of the lesser free agents likely could be signed for a comparable or lower salary – and without the loss of prospects a trade would require, or the loss of two draft choices that would result from the addition of Alonso or Walker.
It’s been great to see how the Yanks have pivoted after the Soto deal — very pleased with the moves so far. But what if they won the World Series?
Obviously, Soto was a priority until he wasn’t but would he have re-signed? If he didn’t, would we still be looking at a similar offseason despite winning the World Series?
No logic, no reasoning, pure emotion. Whose numbers does your 100 mph fastball find a home buried in-between?
If we assume that Bellinger is the new center fielder, the Yankees still have fairly glaring vacancies at first, left field, and whichever infield spot Jazz doesn't play.
I imagine most of us would like to see Dominguez get a shot in left.
So that leaves first and either second or third.
My question: which of those spots would you be most comfortable filling with an internal option?
Somebody like Rice or Peraza or Cabrera?
Or someone else I'm overlooking?
Cody seems really excited to play here and he’s only 29. 25-30? If healthy all year
Jazz is hyped to be here! Shirt porch helps him! 20-30?
Stanton if healthy and can bring the postseason discipline to the plate. 30-40? He is DH
Judge? We could see a angry redemption tour. Imagine he starts off hot. 40-50?
115 low 150 high
Just make em all with RISP!!!! Let’s gooooo
Really not sure what to make of it. His Savant page for 2024 has a lot of good signs. Obviously, he did not have a great season.
The projections are usually really tough on lesser prospects. He showed a lot of good traits in the minors, but lacks the pedigree and experience.
I almost hope he gets a shot and I feel Cashman saying he sees him as a C is a pokerface move.
Can we have a discussion here?
Thinking about the 09 team, Nick Swisher was supposed to be a bench piece to back up Tex at 1B and Nady in the OF. As we all know he ended up having a far bigger impact. He came off a down year and there really were no expectations. What players fit that sort of profile: not being talked about, not huge expectations, but with big upside?
If we have to get creative and trade for a Lowe or Naylor or get a Satander for first I really want to do that and get it over with this offseason. I don't want to go into the season with question marks lingering on the roster. If Guerrero or Tucker become available or some other bat becomes available at the deadline awesome. But I want some semblance of a hitter or hitters filled into these positions.
