Summary:
With the signing of Blake Snell the Dodgers are basically pricing 50% of MLB teams (including the Twins) out of post season contention or serious WS contention.
The Dodgers payroll is approximately $305 million for 2025 which is 2+ times the Twins projected $142 million and 3-4 times at least 5 other teams 2025 payrolls.
The Dodgers look at the luxury tax and laugh. For them paying 45-65 million in "tax" is not a big deal.
Basically MLB is becoming European Soccer and a new Twins owner can't / won't change that.
My Take:
I have been saying for years that MLB has given way too much power to the union. MLB at every chance to bust the player's union or reign in it's power has either blinked or stubbed its toe. I am not on an anti union rap here. I realize what the Union has done for MLB and the good things they have brought about. But the union has become it's own worst enemy ensuring that 90% of their members will never reach the world series unless they play for a top tier team (Similar to the European Champions league) or their team happens to get lucky and catch lightening.
MLB needs to implement a HARD cap - I'm talking NFL hard cap - where if your team is over the cap or under the floor on a set date(s) your team pays the price - until you get in line with the cap. And by paying the price - it means that you don't get to sign FA's, you lose draft picks, and pay fines. The cap in the NFL works. Players get paid. No one is going to say Pat Mahomes or Kirk Cousins, etc... are under paid for what they produce.
I would propose that the 2025 cap for MLB be around the 170 - 180 million mark - Sorry Dodgers, Yankees, Braves, Padres, etc... that would mean you have to make some tough decisions - Do you keep Ohtani or Snell?
I had a question that I couldn’t find a answer for anywhere else on the web and was hoping Reddit could help, my dad has had a rough year and loves the twins, I was looking to get twins fest tickets as I thought it would be something great we could do together. It looks like they are only available if your a twins now member which I can’t afford, so are they like normal tickets that can be sold and transferred or am I sol this Christmas?
I found the Classic Twins YT channel and feeling nostalgic lately. Decided to make a list of postseason records in the Metrodome / US Bank Stadium, thought people might have fun with the trivia

I see the Twins are linked to Rizzo. I see the a twins are linked to adding this guy, that guy… Is their any reason to believe they will do anything?
They can fill from within and spend 0 dollars and 0 cents on every position of need. Why would they do anything differently? The owners want to sell, they NEVER wanted to take advantage of the window that was created to win.
They have proven to us all they are not about to invest in the team. My level of interest is at an all time low, and then I see these silly ways to make the team “better”.
Wake me when they care again.
Starting Nov. 29, the Minnesota Sports Hall of Fame Experience will be open to the public alongside the Dayton’s Holiday Market, which runs almost daily through Dec. 28.
partnership with professional sports teams, including the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx, Minnesota Twins, and Minnesota Wild.
The Dayton’s Project is located at 700 Nicollet Mall. The Minnesota Sports Hall of Fame Experience will be open there Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. During Holidazzle on Dec. 18-21, the exhibit will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free.
I love to see stuff happening at The Dayton's Project. It's so empty 10 months out of the year.
Hi there!
I’m trying to track down a copy of “Home Plate Hits: Recipes from the Kitchens of the Minnesota Twins Wives” from 1994 - or more accurately - the Desserts listings and if a certain strawberry cake is mentioned.
I was told it’s like a German chocolate cake, but instead of chocolate, it’s strawberry. If I own the book, it’s up in Minnesota at the lake (he said, predictably) so any help will be greatly appreciated.
Seems like I can buy a used copy for cheap, but wanted to reach out to my people here first! Thanks!
This brings the roster up to 37. Kind of surprised they didn't add any one else. I would have expected Ricardo Olivar to be on the list as well.
So much going on in the off-season. Yet typical Twins nothing. Sell the team already!
Espn thinks you are Josh Winder, lol 😆

The Pohlad family has owned the Minnesota Twins since 1984, but they announced in October 2024 that they are exploring selling the team, is there any bids so far?
