Watching the games against the White Sox today, it's mentioned that today's doubleheader in Chicago is a single-ticket event. As far as I can remember, the Nationals have never done a doubleheader with a single ticket. I'm just curious if anyone remember if this has happened before?
The closest thing I can remember is July 2015, when there was a suspended game against the Dodgers due to the malfunctioning lights (which some blamed on Taylor Swift) and the game the next day on Saturday was the conclusion of that game, which had been suspended after five innings completed, and then the next game all under one ticket. So twelve innings for the price of nine. But even during the Covid seasons and reduced innings for a double header I don't remember a day in which one ticket covered both games.
Maybe it happened at RFK?
The Mod Team made the following roster move on Tuesday between games of the doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox. Equipment Manager /u/Natstown made the announcement.
“As the team on the field continues its successful rebuilding toward its next World Series Championship, we believe it is similarly important to bring new members into the Mod Team as the subreddit evolves along with the team.”
The entire mod team has been discussing adding new moderators for quite awhile, especially as many have been looking to ease down on those responsibilities for various reasons. While most of the team remains present in the sub, it’s come to the point where /u/Weegian and I are doing the lions share of the day-to-day mod work and agreed it was a good time to bring in at least one more mod - traffic is going back up as the team improves and we also want to bring some fresh voices into the team for the next phase. More invitations may be forthcoming as we go and we will look to regular and positive contributors in the sub for candidates. /u/petting2dogsatonce has been a constant presence and positive contributor in the GDTs (unless you are a gambler airdropping into the sub to complain about your bets) we expect will be a great addition.

Attention analytics fans! MLB has introduced new Statcast data for hitters, for the first time measuring various aspects of a batter's swing. I recommend reading Mike Petriello's article on MLB.com: https://www.mlb.com/news/what-you-need-to-know-about-statcast-bat-tracking?partnerID=web_article-share
This type of data may do more to restore balance to the game than any of the other changes the league has introduced. Why? Because for the last several years, pitching data has been helping pitchers to understand and refine their craft, add spin rate, extension, vertical and horizontal break, etc. Now by seeing better data on things like swing length and bat speed, hitters can similarly make fine adjustments, and GMs can make better decisions on constructing lineups. We can see for the first time how some hitters succeed by squaring up the ball with short swings, and how some hitters succeed with elite bat speed.
And we see how Juan Soto is the rare specimen who is a league leader at both.
Get ready to hear about "blasts" and blast rate. This is the percentage of a player's competitive swings that are both squared up and hit with a high bat speed. Basically, a blast is a great swing. Everything else is not! :
Blasts
Not blasts
The data is now available to the public, but only for this season, so the samples for most players are still very small.
Among Nationals, Luis Garcia Jr. lands among the league leaders in blast rate at 17% (Juan Soto, Shohei Ohtani, and William Contreras are up in the 20s).Riley Adams, Joey Gallos, and CJ Abrams are the Nats with big bat speed. Ildemaro Vargas has terrible bat speed but a crazy-high "squared up" percentage, so he succeeds in a different way, more like a Luis Arraez.
You can see all the Nats' stats here: https://tinyurl.com/3f99x245
I know they can't send him down or lose him (Rule 5 Draft), but what exactly are they getting out of him? If he's "too good to lose" then why is he only Pinch Running (plus 3 ABs thus far)? If he's not good enough to play more then why are we wasting a slot on him? I'm confused...
Here me out: Abrams Young Garcia Jr. Meneses Winker
Purpose: Abrams gets on base (walk, single, xbh, etc), Young bunts over (possibly for basehit), giving Garcia, Meneses and Winker and opp for an RBI
Thoughts????🤔🤔🤔

This may have been talked about before, but I have noticed Abrams sometimes wearing a shiny belt and other players sometimes wearing different color belts. Since when has this been allowed?
Is there an easy way to see these splits this year? All time?
I feel like he’s drastically better in lead off spot. Not saying it’s correlated to anything meaningful, just curious why Davey moves him around if he’s so effective there?
