A game 30 yrs in the making

Last night I got to my first game at Truist. It was absolutely magical. I rank it as a top 5 sporting event in my life and here’s why:

i’m 36 years old, born and raised (and still live) in NJ and have been a TBS born Braves fan for 30 years. I freakin love everything about this franchise. But I’m on an absolute island. I go watch the Braves at citi and at yankee stadium and it’s cool; but it isn’t home. It isn’t hallowed ground. Truist feels hallowed to me already.
What makes the Braves special, to me, are the ones only the true fans know. Galaragga, Wally, Matzek, Furcal, Giles, Brian Jordan, surhoff, Burkett, millwood, Lockhart, castilla, javy, Franco, etc. these guys were competitors.

All of them. To watch Kelenic do that tuesday was absolutely incredible bc maybe I saw the start

the stadium is incredible. Everything about it is fantastic. Concessions, sight lines on the promenade, everything around the stadium… it’s all A++
the people are so friendly. So much so frankly I was surprised. Theo Epstein was sitting across the aisle from me in section 36 and nobody recognized him, nevermind called him out. I being a northeast heathen of course did. Bill — the usher in row 36 — let me hold and try on his WS ring. What a gem of a human
we got the win, and we got it with a guy who has run the total gamut with this franchise. From mvp in 2020 to persona non grata to back again. The Braves organization deftly navigated it all, like they always do. It was poetic. It really was.

Love this team. Love yall. I’m that much closer to moving to the ATL
