I'm a Dodgers fan through and through...had season seats with my dad for the last 30 years of his life and I'm not changing ever. But my namesake grandpa, Happy Caracci, born in Sicily and raised in Brooklyn, switched to the Angels when he moved to California so I have always had a soft spot for the team, spending many a day sitting at his knee watching the...ahem...California Angels.
But enough of that...I think the Halos' fan base is starting to show itself and I'm seeing some real silver linings in the offseason moves of the team thus far. It's possible Artie is finally getting the memo and letting his front office get moving. I know he wants to sit below the CBT and if you're not a realistic contender now I wouldn't see the point in passing it either; wait until you've got guys you need to keep.
For God's sake, as neighbors we need a freeway WS (always wanted one) and I need somebody to beat the Cheaters.
I’m thinking of stopping by tomorrow to check out the deals is there anything worth going for?
Where does Arte Moreno rank among the worst owners in mlb history and the history of the 4 major pro sports leagues?
He would have to be right up there among the worst of the worst. Even up there with the A's owner?
I know it's hard but try to be unbiased.
Edid: sorry for typo in title.
I was at the movies and I saw a trailer for “Better Man” the Robbie Williams biopic where he’s played by a monkey for no reason. Anyway, at one point he’s wearing this hat and it’s got an A, a halo, and a baseball and I was wondering if anyone recognized it.
With where the pitching market is at. Kikuchi at $60 million seems like a steal right now
My guy is telling me this might be strictly clubhouse-issued, but man is it clean. It would be my Stadium-staple for sure.
So it looks like the Cardinals are interested in moving him and he’s willing to play 1B. That helps us in the versatility market to give Schanuel some breaks. That could be our big move of the off-season and his salary goes down significantly after next season. Only question is what is the Cardinals asking price?
Let’s cut the bullshit ok, I’ve honestly had enough of the doomers on this sub complaining no matter what we do.
*D’arnaud will be a great mentor for O’Hoppe (Maybe even one of the best catching duos in MLB)
*Kikuchi is a solid pitcher who gives innings and strikeouts while not walking batters (Could be one of the best #2 starters in MLB, I know he is not a true ace and it’s frustrating he is our best pitcher but he is a solid guy)
*Soler was a good signing (When Trout and Rendon get hurt again like always we will have a solid slugger in the lineup)
I even like the Hendricks signing honestly, he’s a competitor and only making $2.5mil.
Perry is trying his best guys. We have Trout, O’Hoppe, Soler, Ward, Gifo, Neto, and Schanuel that is not a bad offense
And the bullpen has Joyce and Stephenson to anchor it… we could have a good pen and a good offense
Who knows Perry might not be done cooking yet

Feels like we need a place to dump our offseason roster ideas. Scratch paper, if you will. I'll go first.

Projected lineup/rotation:
SS: Zach Neto (when healthy) (R)
3B: Luis Rengifo (S)
RF: Mike Trout (R)
DH: Jorge Soler (R)
1B: Josh Bell (S)
LF: Taylor Ward (R)
C: Logan O'Hoppe (R)
2B: Gleyber Torres (R)
CF: Jacob Young (R)
P: Nate Eovaldi (R), Yusei Kikuchi (L), Jose Soriano (R), Tyler Anderson (L), Kyle Hendricks (R)
These moves would add about $34M to the payroll for next season (more if Goldschmidt) and would keep us under the luxury tax. The glaring problem is this is an extremely right-handed lineup.
