I think we spend a lot of time discussing JJ's accomplishments on the field, but there are two points that I haven't seen enough discussion of either here or in Minnesota sports media.
Looking at the storm brewing between Chase and the Bengals, it's so hard to not give KAM massive credit for getting that JJ deal handled in the offseason. Not only does it remove the distraction from the games this year, we would almost certainly be in major organizational flux without being able to pencil him in for the next four years. We'd need to divert more FA money to the position, we'd need to seriously beef up WR depth, and we'd be forced to develop a new young QB without being able to depend on the best player in the league lining up with him. It all cascades, and even though it was an obvious task... just look at how Cincinnati is handling their obvious task. And they even have a top 5 QB to pair Chase with!
I love KAM's approach to the business side and free agency, even though I've given him tons of shit for draft missteps. This is one area where I really think more credit is due to him.
To point (1), there might be some who disagree with JJ being as critical a get as a QB. I would say that they need to watch our team when JJ is on the field and then when he's off it. The amount of attention he draws alone makes it that much easier on a QB, a running back, the other receivers. Again, it all cascades. We get so focused on individual numbers that we don't see how his work that doesn't show up on the stat sheet impacts the rest of the team.
The dude is a workhorse who just shows up, gives maximum effort, and then does it all over again next week. His work ethic is seriously underrated, and people give only passing notice of games where he doesn't put up more than 100 yards. Even in those games, like the last two, you notice how often he ends up making a key catch right when it's absolutely necessary.
Here’s the text from a good friend of mine:
“Another win but this feels like 2022, 2021, 2020, 2008, 2000, 1998. But Cousins in town this weekend. Probably puts up 6 TDs after last week.”
For what it’s worth he hated Cousins as the QB of the Vikes. He’s a good friend, we have both been fans for 30+ years. No, I’m not interested in cutting him out of my life over something silly like football 😂. I get it, as fans of the team we’ve had plenty of heartbreak. What I’m wondering is how to get him to not be so negative in the middle of a fun season, one that will have an end that no one can predict.
More of a fun fact than a statement about anything, obviously. It just feels really good to have solid coaching out the gate with someone so young. Our KOC swings much more than Andy Reid’s with each win or loss, so I’m posting while this holds true. ;)
Yes that was a double entendre.
Help us blow by the lions to #1 baby. Thursday at midnight....FTP again.
Seems like all his INTs are terrible throws that I could’ve caught
So there's obviously a lot of talk about what needs to happen for the Vikings to win the division (Lions need to lose a game, etc). But what about what it takes for the Vikings to get the first seed over the Eagles of it gets to that point?
From what I understand, the current applicable tiebreaker is strength of victory, which the Eagles have right now. So for us to be seeded higher, we need to be rooting against the Saints, Browns, Bengals, Cowboys and Commanders (except when they're playing the Eagles), Rams, and Ravens (as well as the Panthers and Steelers if Philly ends up beating them), and we need to root for the 49ers, Texans, Jets, Colts, Titans, and Cardinals, (as well as the Falcons and Seahawks, and unfortunately the Bears and Packers too if we end up beating all of them).
Does this seem right to everyone or am I missing anything?
this was supposed to be a rebuilding year and countless times we’ve proven people wrong.
winning 3 straight on the road, continuing to compete for the division with the best team in football.
KOC may be a little shaky in some spots of the game but who isn’t

Watching on TV, we can't see the A22 and don't really know how tight the coverage was on plays where Darnold holds the ball too long.
It seemed like most of rhe completions he had in the first 3 quarters were only to wide open receivers, as if he wouldn't pull the trigger unless they were wide open.
I know he had a couple games with 2 or 3 INTs -- was the lack of progress in the first 3 Q a result.of not wanting to take any risk?
If so, that strategy nearly cost us the game, hopefully he adjusts and takes some risk. Between JJ, JA, and speedy, there must be opportunities in which we can catch the ball on the run and Darnold can place it where it's likely that it's caught or incomplete... or a penalty, even when the coverage isn't blown.
For those at the game and seeing Darnold not pull the trigger -- was Darnold really not throwing to anyone unless they were wide open / blown coverage?

Their response in the video was "we just hoop" which sounds more like a slogan than a name, no?
While watching the game yesterday there were a few times where the TV coverage cut to the crowd on crucial plays. Less than half the fans are making noise. I've been to 15 Vikes games (they've won 13 of them!), so am familiar w/ the "get loud" on the jumbotron and such. It feels like they could even go further to to put emphasis on how beneficial crowd noise is. Like several PSAs before and during the game really hammering home how big of an impact crowd noise can have, and to really let loose and yell, or clap at the very least.
I know it's completely impractical but imagine Minneapolis Miracle level of crowd noise on every single defensive play, that would have to push a home edge from the usual ~3 points to something potentially double digits. Being an indoor stadium w/ a passionate fanbase could be leveraged as even more of a weapon than it is, imo. The only away NFL stadium I've been to was Lambeau in the 2015 season when the Vikes won in week 17 Sunday night to seal the division, so I can't really judge how other teams go about encouraging crowd noise.
Anyway, I do my part and have lost my voice to some extent at games. The fireball shots I smuggle in help boost the decibels (still give Zygi some $$ for something else in addition, so don't feel guilty about it, and simply convenient to rip a shot to celebrate a TD w/ no vendor involvement).
Are we doing this again this year? It’s so much fun.
I’m back with more.
I’m looking at the next few games for us, and everyone else in our division, it really is a mixed bag especially with so many divisional games stacked.
3 predictions are:
Jefferson won’t catch Chase for highest number of yards in the regular season (FYI he’s 104 yards behind)
Bills end up 1st and get the bye
Detroit’s next win will be against the 49ers (yes, they will get beat by Packers, Bills and Bears - in a row!)

I know this wasn't in our game but this guy is dirty as fuck. I hope he gets suspended.
I know all NFC North fans hate each other but we all gotta just face it that we’re all pretty damn good. Out side of the Rams, Eagles, and Bucs nobody has beaten us except each other. We should all just acknowledge that none of us are frauds. It’s still FTP and lions though.
