Was reminiscing on some older seasons and just got to one player leading to another and just learned why Mike Tice was fired 🥲 . I like visiting older seasons as much as I do present ones . Different kinda heartbreaks I guess
Or is that totally unacceptable in any case?
The wife and I are coming down for our first Vikings game from Canada. Was hoping to get some suggestions for where to enjoy a couple beverages and some food before the game begins. Is there a good area to pub hop close to the stadium? Is there a tailgate? Any info is appreciated!
Just take the first quarter off and see what happens.
Me personally, i need to wear the right color jersey and play the game in madden prior to the actual game
Interesting dude, good reporting. Worth a listen, especially if you’re a Vikings fan.
Here's a look at this week's numbers from the Vikings Week 9 Rooting Guide
Here's how this week's games affect the Vikings' chances:
Game | Impact | Make Playoffs | Win Division | Top 2 | Top Seed |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Vikings over Colts | 46.7 | 16.5% | 10.4% | 10.2% | 7.2% |
Giants over Commanders | 13.3 | 2.2 | 0.009 | 0.3 | 1.7 |
Jaguars over Eagles | 8.5 | 1.2 | (-0.001) | 0.3 | 1.8 |
Chiefs over Buccaneers | 5.3 | 2.1 | 0.0004 | 0.3 | 0.2 |
Cardinals over Bears | 4.3 | 1.7 | 0.6 | 0.3 | 0.06 |
Falcons over Cowboys | 1.7 | 1.2 | 0.007 | (-0.6) | (-0.3) |
Packers over Lions | (-0.8) | (-1.6) | 6.5 | 5.6 | 3.0 |
Rams over Seahawks | 0.5 | 0.1 | (-0.009) | 0.08 | 0.02 |
Panthers over Saints | 0.4 | 0.2 | 0.002 | 0.004 | 0.001 |
Jets over Texans | 0.01 | 0.001 | 0.004 | 0.003 | 0.001 |
Bills over Dolphins | 0.003 | 0.003 | (-0.006) | (-0.004) | (-0.003) |
Patriots over Titans | 0.002 | (-0.0009) | 0.002 | 0.0003 | 0 |
Raiders over Bengals | 0.002 | 0.001 | |||
Ravens over Broncos | 0.0006 | 0.001 | |||
Chargers over Browns | 0.0006 | 0.0003 |
Cardinals over Bears because the Bears have better odds of reaching 9+ wins, and are in division.
Falcons over Cowboys helps for wildcard and wildcard seeding, but a Falcons loss helps for getting a top seed.
Packers v Lions - We're choosing which team we'd rather see lose, rather than who we're "rooting for". I'll root for the Lions to lose to help in the division race, even though a Packers loss is better in more simulated seasons, and is better for the Vikings to make the playoffs.
Jets over Texans for Strength-of-Victory tiebreak (SoV) since the rest of the NFC North doesn't play the Jets but does play the Texans, and the Packers already beat the Texans.
Patriots over Titans - For now a Titans loss is slightly better for SoV since they've already lost to the rest of the NFC North.
Other AFC games mostly come down to which teams are helped or hurt in the SoV tiebreak, and how unlikely it is that it comes down to that.
The Rooting Guide simulates seasons using current betting lines, and evaluates how each game affects the Vikings' playoff chances.
All values show the difference between the Vikings' chances with the given game result compared to the opposite result.
For example, a Vikings win against the Colts gives the Vikings a chance of making the playoffs 16.5% higher than a Vikings loss.
If SKOL was an acronym what would it be?
If it's 3rd down I'm always so nervous because we rarely stop it. Even if it's like 15+ yards. Just wondering what you guys think issue is. Are the other teams just that good?
Do you guys think Sam Darnold will stay in Minnesota for next season? The rumors about the Stafford trade have definitely died down now. He has played exceptionally well under KOC especially given that this year was expected to be a rebuilding year. Not sure if we want to sit JJ Mcarthy for another year under a more experienced qb to gain more experience, or extend Sam Darnold’s contract.
This fanbase truly perplexes me. I see a lot of people complaining about the Cam Robinson trade, with some version of “we’re not going to win the Super Bowl this year so it’s dumb to give up draft capital”.
Is that seriously the mindset you want the Vikings to have? You want to tell all of these veterans “well we lost two games and had an injury, season over, we’re gonna trade the guys who don’t fit into our window away”. The fuck?
This team still believes they are one of the best in the NFC, and I’d argue they are. The only team I would confidently say is better is the Lions, and we played them close. There are definitely teams on our level, but no one that we couldn’t beat for one game.
Do you really want JJ McCarthy, Justin Jefferson, Hockenson, Greenard, Van Ginkel, etc to see our GM just give up on a season at the first sign of adversity? How would potential free agents this offseason see that?
Our goal this year should be to build a winning culture. Our roster really doesn’t have that many holes going forward. I see holes at: RG, DT, CB for next year. All of that can be addressed in free agency with our cap space. We could easily still win a playoff game or two this year, after that you never know. I wouldn’t say the odds are great that we go to the SB, but at the end of the day Nick Foles won a freaking Super Bowl.
Would you really feel better about our future if we traded Gilmore, Jones, Griffen, trotted our Quessenberry at LT for the rest of the season, got some draft capital and won 3 more games? Is that what all of you doomers want? Or would it feel better if we end up 12-5, win a game in the wild card round, and go into next season with a chip on our shoulder with JJ ready to take over?
TLDR: Super Bowl or bust is stupid. If you want to give up on the season after the first sign of adversity, find a new sport to follow
Just not Cam Jordan. Fuck that guy.
Does anyone have the audio of the Paul Allen radio broadcast during the missed face mask? Would like to hear what is live reaction was
So after having not seen a Vikings game in a couple of years and having last minute decided to fly by the London game, then rushing an overnight LA visit because Google was hosting my company at their SoFi suite, my wife surprised me with birthday Delta Sky Club tickets for this Sundays game.
I had some questions for people that have done the Sky Club. I know this thread has popped up before (and recently) but I wasnt sure how effective reviving a stale thread would be so please entertain this.
When can we enter the Sky Club? Is it 2 hrs before KO?
Is it just beer/wine/pop (lol)? My wife would probably do a bloody mary or 2 if it was an option
How busy does it get in there? I’ve seen videos where it’s nuts, and seen others where it’s chill af.
How often are the food menus updated for the clubs? There’s a menu in the app that actually looks like 2 different menus so it’s a little confusing.
Once again, thanks for taking the time to read/answer. I’m extremely privileged to have had the last month or so of vikings experiences and SKOL for the weekend.
I was at Scheels the other day and saw a ton of Vikings merchandise with upside down logos. Is this a Vikings thing or just a weird sports marketing ploy across all markets? What struck me was that it wasn't just a single t-shirt or hat, but an entire kiosk of merchandise with upside down logos. Google was no help so my curiosity has me turning to you fine folks on Reddit.
It feels like the Vikings frequently overpay for players mid season in an attempt to “win now”, even in situations where it doesn’t make sense. This happened under Rick, and it feels like this trend has continued under Kwesi. I’m of the opinion that we have wasted a lot of draft capital doing so over the years, which may explain the discrepancy in regular season and post season success (generally solid team but always a piece or two short).
Do we think this is an ownership mandate that makes winning it all more challenging? I’m inclined to think so given it’s continued with a new GM, but curious what others think.
