Vikes central says mutual interest. I think it’s a great fit and he’s a better wr3 option than Powell. Are they any kind of reliable source or just bs’ers like sosa?
Around 14:20 mark
For Context: I’m a diehard fan of both the Vikings and BYU.
Obviously I’d love nothing more than to see Hall as the longtime starter for the Vikes.
From what we’ve seen, we know that’s not going to happen. He’s nearly 26. He played pretty good in Atlanta before getting hurt.
Then, Green Bay... Granted the O-Line gave him no favors on NYE, but he still looked really bad.
After the pickup of JJ McCarthy, I figure Hall’s spot on the practice squad is set.
Does anyone see any future where Jaren remains as a QB 2 or 3?
Am I the only one who was still expecting some kind of acquisition for the running back room?
Obviously we have our guy in Aaron Jones, but we lost both Mattison (thankfully) and Akers. What happens if Jones goes down in the first quarter of the season? We are comfortable relying on any of Kene, Gaskin and McBride to be RB2?
I just expected a flyer on an RB considering what I see as a major lack of depth. Especially when we picked up 3 WRs. I suppose it's possible there were just no prospects they valued for even the bare minimum?
Are they planning to re-sign Akers? Or is the move to pick up another dirt cheap free agent in the Pre-season if none of your RB3-5s look promising?
P.S. I'm new to following the offseason as of the last 2 years, I love that football never really ends now!
After 30+ years, I've decided to pick my own NFL team and I'm down to 2, Panthers and Vikings. Interesting choices, right? I was just wondering, if you all were to "sell" your team to someone or try to get someone into the fandom, what would be the reasons you'd give them to start liking this team?
Why do you guys think the Giants didn't take a QB off the board after offering the Patriots this years #6 spot and next years 1st round pick? Did the Giants think it was Drake Maye or no one and that Malik was greater value than everyone else on the board, if so then why not offer a trade to the Cardinals to get Marvin Harrison, Jr.?
Source: he just said it on 9-noon
To me this is a very serious question, because the Vikings have a significant lack of picks in the future. Unless we want to give up assets (players and money) to acquire more picks, we're going to have to lose games in order to get them. Suggesting that a lack of picks isn't a big problem is somewhat delusional, though not entirely wrong. Obviously we could sign free agents and undrafted players, but having THAT as your long-term PLAN is more of a gamble than any pick in a draft could ever be. This to me is an elephant in the room, and I'm really curious how that will be addressed officially or otherwise.
If this "plan" (or eventuality) doesn't pan out for the team, then what happens? Right now, the only solid thing I can say about the future (assuming JJ gets an extension to stay here and then stays healthy) is that he's the kind of asset you could flip for plenty of picks. But what if he has an injury that makes him 5% slower and less willing to put his body on the line? Hell, what if he blows out a knee and is forced to retire?
Then you better HOPE that someone else, in that time, has become a superstar for the Vikings. But there's a low chance that even one budding Superstar will emerge from this roster.
I know I sound negative and focused one "one" issue, but I'm inviting anyone/everyone to help make me and others who think like me feel better about the decisions recently and outlook on the future.
Vikings smash the first round of the draft. Get McCarthy and Dallas Turner. Future looking BRIGHT.
Wolves sweep the Suns for their first ever sweep in Franchise history and only the 2nd time in Franchise history they’ve advanced past the first round.
Twins on a 7 game winning streak and have pulled themselves out of the depths of hell.
Wild probably enjoying some golf so you have to be happy for them there.
LFG WE UP BABY!
One of my bigger frustrations of the draft was not doing much to address the OL.
A 6th round swing tackle and a 7th round IOL probably aren’t going to move the needle much. I’d love one of them to be the next Pace or the Trey Smith of this draft, but odds are low.
Shout out to whoever stitched together the Jaren Hall video I included, because it highlights the question - how do we make sure that we develop JJ right? He’s probably the most important draft pick we’ve had in a decade.
Normally you don’t play your veterans or stars much in preseason. Will we do that again this year or is it more important to get JJ off to a good start?
Look at how often Hall had to deal with pressure or the play breaking down in preseason. Not good, and not what I want to see JJ dealing with. So do we play our starting OL and risk injury to them? Normally Darrisaw/ O’Neill don’t take many reps at all. Limit JJ’s reps? Trot JJ out there behind a bunch of UDFA camp bodies?
