This is a subreddit for finding the name of a game that you can't remember. Just post your description, and hopefully someone will be able to identify it. Be sure to help out if you think you may have an answer to someone else's post!
1. One game per post
If you're looking for multiple games, you should make multiple posts. Exceptions are made for games that are part of a compilation such as a demo disk.
2. Mark your post after it's solved
If a post is solved, but not marked, it will be marked by one of the mods. Check here to find out how to mark your own posts.
3. Be nice
Pretty simple. There's no need to be rude or hateful on this subreddit. This includes all forms of discrimination, as well as generally rude comments.
4. Serious requests only
This applies to submissions that are intended as jokes. These just get in the way of people who are genuinely looking for a game.
Posts searching for the evil farming game are also banned. All such posts should go on /r/ThatEvilFarmingGame.
5. Post titles must be formatted as [PLATFORM][ESTIMATED YEAR] SHORT DESCRIPTION OF GAME
All posts must conform to this format. Mario, for example, might be "[NES][1983] Game about a plumber".
This is a strict rule. If the title of your post doesn't include two pairs of square brackets followed by a short description, your post will be auto-removed. Note that if you don't know the platform or the year, you can still post using [Unknown] tag, e.g. "[Unknown][Unknown] Game about a hedgehog".
6. Do not delete your post
If your post is solved, please write 'Solved: gamename' and make sure you do not delete your post. It is important for searchability if others are looking for the same game.
7. We heavily recommend you use the post template
This is not a hard rule, however, for best results, follow the template below when writing your post. See this post for more information.

Wait at least 24 hours before reposting.
9. No mindless copy-pasting of AI-generated answers
AI chatbots (such as ChatGPT) are not search engines and often make up information. If you use such bots you must verify the information is correct, preferably with a link to gameplay.

I don’t remember much besides this one thing
I was on a Dark horse (like shadowy or inky) and the environment around was entirely white stone
I think the majority of the game was underground
And the last thing I remember is that the game cover had a shadowed out figure (I’m only like 30% sure on this one)
Hello, how are you? I hope you can help me
When I was a kid I played a game on my MAME 32 emulator on PC
It was a puzzle and maze game. The main character was red, shaped like a strawberry or mushroom with polka dots. You could only see his body and big feet. When you pushed an object his arms appeared.
The view was from above, just a portion of the map. It had little animation but allowed you to move in all directions.
The idea was to advance between the maps until you could escape from the "castle" "dungeon". In each map there were keys that you had to prioritize grabbing to unlock doors and advance. As the level became more complex you had fewer moves. You couldn't go around the map but be more precise
I'll leave a drawing of what I remember of the character
Mods will likely delete this post again for the tenth time - even though I've tried modifying everything to follow these ambiguous rules. Here goes: The colors are like bright yellows and oranges, very stylized - it's like a horror-mystery - something to do with an Octopus, or tentacles or Cthulhu or something...it's like "Cthulhu High" or "Tentacle High" or somert....it's a typical pixel art game that could have been made using RPG Maker, only the speech placards were very cool/stylized/colorful, when characters talk - has a very polished feel. If I saw it on GOG.com or somewhere I'd recognize it instantly....MC is a guy/boy....he has a sister that is very snarky to him, and at the beginning of the game, it's his first day of going to this titular school....and he's late...if that helps....I believe the kids and their mother just moved to the area...and the mother has to run off to her new job when she drops her son off at school...
Chat GPT recommended Crash of the Titans which is close but I honestly don't know if I just forgot about the character of crash bandicoot (I was really young) or im thinking about a different game
I know its not:
atchet & Clank: Size Matters
Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier
main character was male-ish, i think you could unlock different characters as you explored
Platform(s): Home PC, internet browser, flash game.
Genre: Flash Game, 2d, strategy/puzzle/platformer, adventure.
Estimated year of release: Between 2007-2011
Graphics/art style: It was pretty simplistic, but not pixeled either. The movements were quite smooth. Colourful. The setting was that of a village and a forest, and these places looked simple, but the "enemies" and the character were moving smoothly (in my mind it looked like 64 FPS, but of course, this was not the case). The point is, graphics were very smooth for that time, and more for a flash game.
Detail: I specifically remember when you walked you made a sound, kinda like walking on wood while wearing high-heels. There was a distinct wood creaking whenever you walked and jumped.
Notable characters: The main character, the one you started as, was a boy, (red shirt if im not mistaken), and later on there was a girl (wearing a dress). Both had a windup key on their backs.
Notable gameplay mechanics: There were "levels" to go through by solving puzzles which opened doors for the next stages. You originally played as a boy, but later on, you could play as a girl. I can't remember if it is because the goal of the game was to look for this girl and then bring her back to your village with you, but I do remember that at some point you find her and you could change between characters to help solve the puzzles. Kinda like a "water girl/fire boy" situation, but instead of having two players it was just you changing between characters.
Other details: I also seem to recall that most of the game took place in a forest; you started in your village/town/whathaveyou, and then you moved through a forest. I do not remember how the game ended. As for the character's appearance, aside from what I already said, the main feature I remember is that they had windup keys on their backs, (or something similar). And, when you jumped, you could land very hard on the floor; like that was one of your "powers", you stumped very hard after jumping and this was useful because there were some threats like wild dogs (i think they were dogs, or boars or wolfs) and you could jump and stump ont hem really hard and kill them; I remember there was this weird looking fish at a level with water where it mostly followed you and killed you but if you stumped on it then it left you alone.
Here's what i know:
The game was entirely first person. No moving, just aiming.
The "blobs" came out of the back of the screen towards you
The weapons included a Desert Eagle, Benelli M4 and i think there was an XM8
There's one level where one of the blobs steals all your weapons and all you've got is a shoe to defend yourself.
I think the blobs were pale blue?
Sorry if it's not much to go on, but this is all I can remember.

I was told to post this here. As much as I can recall, the game starts in a village with the MC talking with either his mother or female parental figure, and for some reason I remember him being hungry. Later I remember exploring a forest-like area.
Another important part was sneaking around a military-like base and going inside a building where he hears this girl behind a locked door singing. They probably had a conversation (Cannot remember this part properly). After this there was this platforming section involving jumping. That's pretty much it. It was 3D graphics and cell shaded (I think). Forgive me for vague details, I was 8 years old, so around 2008. It is possible that it came out around that time.
You'll have my immense appreciation. Thank you if you know what it is.
i think the character you played as was some kind of black creatures and you had to get around the game by climbing on the walls and ceilings, it was 2D. you were trying to get though the door. i remember the early levels had grass and some later ones had ice. and the last level had a bunch of buttons and doors you had to get through. and there was bad guys too you had to avoid.
A very old game which was top down you could play as multiple characters (one was named Palmer I believe) and I believe it had king in the name. You moved around the world map collecting and purchasing x amount of units for a stack, there was fantasy themed units such as vampires and dragons, ghasts and skeletons. Peasants and knights and you were exploring to find map pieces? to show a big picture of where you had to go to complete the game? You got monthly/daily allowance to purchase things from the main castle where the king was I believe.
there was a game i played when i was a child where you had some futuristic gun and had to kill some cybernetic robot or zombie i think, there was a level in a city, the game has "shock" in the name if i remember correctly, and not, it isn't system shock 1 nor 2, thank to you if you read that
Platform: PC - Roblox
Year: Sometimes between 2012 and 2016 iirc
Genre: Somewhat of a roleplay
Hey all, I've recently gotten more into Roblox again, and wanted to revisit some of the old games I used to enjoy. I've been looking all over for a small town game. I remember there being a bunch of different cars you could buy and houses as well. There were like two or three different types of housing you could get, and money collected in the mailboxes in front of them. I remember being able to get a beach house which was more expensive, and there were a few of them, and smaller neighborhood houses. I also recall there being a night time. I don't remember if it had a day night cycle or if it was just perpetual night. It seems it was a more obscure game, but I'm curious as to whether anybody else remembers this. Any insights are greatly appreciated.
I know for sure it wasn't Town of Robloxia, Adopt and raise a baby, Robloxity, or Urbis
I think the name might of had axe in it and the logo was a white axe I think. The story was that evil is corrupting the world and you need to save it. You played as a knight with magic I’m pretty sure. I remember the trailer and it has an evil zombie like army attacking a castle. It was open world and you could explore but there was still a story.
Platform(s): Played on my computer, in one of those sites with lots of games that you accessed directly from google Genre: It was a cartoonish 2d puzzle game, those clicking games like Happy Monkeys. Estimated year of release: Probably played it around 2015-2017, perhaps this means it was a flash game, though I'm not sure. Graphics/art style: 2d, cartoonish, more towards a kids public Notable characters: I remember a yellow alien was one of the first phases where you would just click the cage and release it Notable gameplay mechanics: There were aliens in cages, a steady background, and you would "solve" the puzzle by clicking on various places on the screen to try and free the alien. It was a "phases" game, you would have a menu to select phases. I remember there were some secret phases, one with a volcano.
Platform(s): [Big Fish Games]
Genre: [time management and island-themed]
Estimated year of release: [late 2000s- early 2010's]
Graphics/art style: [I remember them being pretty good but I was really young so decent sims like graphics with characters that are drawn in 2d on the thumbnail art.]
Notable characters: [A pirate and elf-like citizens who would give you money]
Notable gameplay mechanics: [I specifically remember you could build Villas and Lumberjack stations. You could also clear out the map and for every level you had to build/earn different things (ex have 5 Villas or Cottages, or earn a specific amount of wood]
Other details: [Not exactly, other that it was a very bright kind of game and that you couldn't place the lumberjack stations close to Villas because they'd be too loud and distrupt the citizens.]
Hello, I'm looking for a game from my childhood available on iOS, I've already done a lot of research, but I haven't found it, I hope you can help me.
Here is the most precise description possible of what I have in mind. So, it's a game in the cartoon style. And this game aims to develop an area. And to develop this area, you have to go with a vehicle to repel creatures (zombies, I think) that are behind you, with the help of a character who is behind the car, it's in 2D. The car moves from left to right. The whole game is based on that.
It seems to me that you could send several different people into this game area. The one and only goal was to prevent the zombies from getting you. and it also seems to me that the characters used weapons.
Back in like 2003, my dad was playing around with a couple versions of Linux. He installed one of my desktop and it had like 10-15 games preloaded with it. I played the hell out of Tux Racer, but there was one in particular I remember loving but can’t place the name of it.
It was 2D, all pixelated, and you controlled a little triangular shuttle/spaceship. The worlds were static environments, nothing moved or changed, but they reacted to you and your weapons. You could load plastic explosives in to your ship and replace an entire lake with explosives, then shoot it and create a huge bomb. Or if you dropped a bunch of thermite around and shot that, it would spread like wildfire and torch all the wooden structures and grass and trees.
I don’t think there was any story in the game, I just remember horsing around with that little ship and destroying various sandbox maps with it.
If anybody has any idea what that game was, I’d be happy and thankful to hear it!
2006 - 2012. It was 2D, jump & run, you collected coins. The main character was a human boy with brown hair. At the beginning you were above the earth, then below and at the end in space. The task at the end was to save a girl from aliens
I have been searching for this app for YEARS. I thought it was a Google or Microsoft game, because I remember that when you opened it, in the intro, red, blue, yellow and green petal-looking shapes would swirl around to recreate the icon of the app? There was also a brown backpack. It was likely a part of the icon but it could've been in the name of the platform too. It was an educational game that was targeted towards younger children from my recollection, but I haven't found any games of that type on any Wiki page, or on this sub-reddit.
It functioned almost like girlsgogames in the sense that it wasn't a game in and of itself. It hosted a large collection of games and activities, with the largest difference being that it wasn't an online site. It had to be downloaded, and I believe it costed money.
(TLDR at the end)
There were several games, the most notable being;
-A 2D game in which you play as a brown-skinned, male (?) adventurer flying in a hot air balloon. In order to progress, you need to answer world/survival trivia that's based on whichever region your character has traveled to. I specifically remember a question regarding whether or not you could drink water from a cactus, once you traveled to the desert. You could travel to both a snowy and jungle region as well. There were two endings. If you get enough questions right, the game ends with your character making his way to a city, where the residents have held a large parade for him, and the game congratulates you. If you get most of the questions wrong, the game ends prematurely with the man's air balloon deflating and crashing. There were some sound effects, and short music played for both endings.
-A 3D, first-person, sandbox type-game of what I believe to be a recreation of a Japanese palace. The surrounding area was misty, and there wasn't much in the game outside of the palace itself, and a surrounding forest/meadow. There were two chambers if I remember correctly, and there was a window upstairs. The walls/changing screens in the palace had elaborate paintings on them. I remember being able to glitch out of the upstairs window, and float outside, so I could see the entirety of the building and landscape. The graphics weren't amazinggg in retrospect but it was good considering the technology back then. There was a soundtrack playing throughout the exploration, and there were no enemies, other characters, or any dialogue in the game.
-Another 3D, f-p reconstruction of what might have been an Egyptian tomb? You spawn outside, and it remains daytime. As you come closer to the structure, there are two statues outside, of standing men wearing what appears to be a Nemes/headdress? The actual chamber/tomb was dimly lit and you could make out a few carvings. As you went deeper inside, it got darker, and the passageway more narrow. Both sides of the wall were lit by torches, and depictions of Anubis and a couple other gods were on those walls. I vaguely remember some information being in the game, more specifically a comparison of the reconstruction and what that same building looks like today.
-I believe there was another sandbox reconstruction (there were more than these three, but these are the only ones I remember well enough) of the Colosseum in Rome. There was a soundtrack playing, along with sound effects that might have been of a cheering crowd? You spawned in at the entrance and could walk around the arena, and all the way up to the highest set of seats. It remained daytime in this experience as well.
-A game depicting a world map. You could click on the available countries to learn more about that land's traditional instruments. More specifically, Hungary's was the Cimbalom, Trinidad's was Steel Drums, and another country's was the Banjo. A little audio excerpt of each instrument played when you clicked on the country.
-Another experience sharing different genres of music. One detail I can recall is the example for country music being an excerpt from "My Coat of Many Colours". You had to match the excerpts of the tracks, to the name of the genre they belonged to. There was also a short game with the same premise but for bird sounds. There was one for a Bluejay, a Robin and a Loon, as well as a couple others.
TLDR: An educational app that hosted several different games/experiences, including a 2D wilderness explorer game in which you travel the world in a hot air balloon, a few 3D sandbox recreations of infrastructure from various iconic civilizations, specifically from Japan, Egypt and Italy (Rome), a world map that was focused on showing different traditional instruments from around the world, and a couple short games in which a certain track/sound effect was played, and it had to be matched to a word, which would be the category that it belonged to. MAY have been a Microsoft or Google game. Graphics and sound quality were good. I'm like 80% sure the application costed money.
I would really appreciate any suggestions, this game meant a lot to me and my younger sister and I can't find a single piece of information about it despite remembering so many details. If you can find any info, gameplay clips, a wiki page, or even the game itself I'd literally be indebted to you forever lol. Thanks in advance! <3
[Found] Its the Eyewitness Children's Encyclopedia on DVD-ROM
I have REALLY faded memories on this. It was an educational game that I played in IT lessons in primary school in the UK (like 2008 ish) and the absolute best I can describe it is this:
You would fly around the world in this first person view and would end up in different scenes, through windows and things. One scene I think I remember was in a treehouse?
You would then, and I am only now realising how little I remember, click on objects that you could see and it would have given you information on them.
I wish I could give you more than this but I really only have fleeting memories of this every couple of years. Im only writing this as I just so happened to remember it this time while already on Reddit. It drives me mad that I cannot find this. If anyone can help that would be incredible!
Platform(s): Laptop, it was downloaded on it.
Genre: Quest to build and repair within given time
Estimated year of release: 2000-2010
Graphics/art style:
Mid 2000's game 3D, included a map. working on a small patch of land at every stage.
Notable characters: 3 or 4 Vikings/ Dwarves
Notable gameplay mechanics:
Building and repairing outdoor/ forests, bridges and land. To continue on their journey. Possibly had to build tracks too, to transport coal/wood.
It was day time throughout the game.
Other details:
Might have been called country roads or cross country. Childrens game. No combat kinda game.
I am looking for a computer game that came out around the late 90s early 2000s.
The game is a 3d / 2.5d platform game where we basically follow a girl that collects loot, kills a mafia of some sort. All that to save her dad.
That's the best I can remember from that game. I was still a kid when I used to play it and I don't remember the name but I do remember the graphics. Tried to look up pictures of games with similar descriptions but with no luck. Any help is appreciated
[Mobile][Early 2010s] A Hack and Slash RPG Game
Platform: Android?
Genre: Hack and Slash Action, RPG, Fantasy, Single Player
Estimated year of release: Around early 2010s? or late 2000s
Graphics/Art Style: They had 2, 1 for dialogue sprites and then the overworld sprites. The dialogue sprites are anime-ish and the overworld sprites are chibis styled.
Notable Characters: -The Princess who was kidnapped for her power. -The MC was sent to retrieve the princess from the main antagonist who is Mage class?
Notable Mechanics: -You could pick one out of exactly three classes? (Assassin, Knight and Mage I think). And I remember one of the skill of assassin was invisibility and you hit a critical strike after you came out from the invisible state. And it's easier to complete the game with assassin class because of that skill. -Monsters dropped variety of items and you can equipped them or sell them and some of the items are game changer since the game is quite difficult to beat so I remember grinding at the same floor for hours for exp and items. -There's also a skill tree.
Other details: I think it has "Tale" in its title, could be wrong.
A few parts of the story that I remember vividly is:
-I played that game in 2012-2013 and for that time, the graphics were really eye-pleasing for an android mobile game.
-You could finish the game in a day I think.
I liked the story and I wanna re-experience it if possible. Thanks in advance.
Looking for an old and kind of simple game I lost ages ago. May have been shareware. I played it c. 2001-2002 but thought from the look of it that it might be fairly old. The screen is a zoomed out view of a region, kinda like a map or Civilization 1, forests and grass and water all on some kind of grid, and you are in control of this tiny little guy. Color art but early looking, maybe 256 color, definitely pixel graphics. Not sure if the grid itself was visible or not or what shape. You could only cross the water at certain places (ferries?) and the game may or may not have given you a limited number of moves.
You start at a castle(?) and move around the map looting treasure chests. The whole point of the game is just to get gold. There is at least one chest on the map that has bandits/pirates stuffed inside instead, but no way to tell which one, and if you open that one they pop out and steal all the gold you've accumulated. I am pretty sure the treasure chests were all different bright colors like teal, purple, green, etc.? Not sure if you needed to collect keys before you could open them or not?
Maybe what I had was a demo but as far as I can remember, that was the entire game. Just move your tiny guy between tiles and grab gold from chests and hope that if you find the bandits you do so before you have much to steal, since there was no fighting, all your gold would simply be gone forever. Sometimes it was frustrating but I loved it.
I think the title may have had the word "Wizard" in it? That or the player character was a wizard? Not really sure, I can't find any matching game with a title like that but pretty sure there was a wizard involved somehow.
i remember playing this game on my phone and my tablet, and for what i remember this girl had red haris or maybe brown and then she is shooting zombies by a tower made of junk (2d game)
Hi guys :)
I've been trying to find this specific browser game that I use to play, the only thing that I can remember it's that it was a trike racing game where the players were celebrities or famous characters, it was a platform game and the only player that I can remember is Elvis Presley, I think that you could play with Godzilla too but I'm not sure.
Can someone help me find this game please?
the basic setting is a town with polly's friends (honestly my memory is so blurry i can't even be sure if it's PP based), she goes around driving and has to pick up friends. i can't remember where i played this but for some reason friv comes to mind.
