If it's in the movies, it has to be real right?? there was no Internet back then... I spent so many days going to Toys "R" Us looking for a game that didn't exist
TLDR: What can indo to fix a green sceen on my the new sega games. Star Trek and Congo Bongo
Of course the controllers didn't work, so I cleaned the contacts and cussed a few cuss words put putting them back together. Started playing Star Raiders since I had the controller overlay and it requires all the buttons. Controller works great...(yeah, that's relative) 👌. I bought this thing in the early 2000's from the bay for about $60 shipped. So off to the game store to add to my six game collection and got Star Trek, Congo Bongo, Missile Command, and Mrs. Pac Man. So Mrs. Pac Man, Star Trek and Congo Bongo don't work. (Store was unable to test and will take rerurn). They have extras of Mrs. Pac Man but not The others. What can I do to possibly get these working?
If anyone knows where to find and adapter for a new tv please let me know
Recently I hooked up my mom’s old 5200 just to check out the system. Console itself works perfectly, but (to no one’s surprise) none of the four controllers work properly, though the problems don’t really seem to be with the buttons and are instead with the stick itself.
For some reason none of the four will register down inputs. Left, right, and up all work flawlessly most of the time on three of them, but I can’t get down to work on any unless I open up the controller and actually move the top potentiometer myself. I assume this has something to do with the tips of the potentiometers not correctly fitting into the holes they’re supposed to on the stick, but I’m not 100% certain and figured it would be best to ask here.
Any insight on this is greatly appreciated!
Hi all,
I just discovered Retro Arch today and love it! I’ve been using Jum 52 to play 5200 games until now, with varying degrees of success.
I have several questions about 5200 emulation and how to get it work properly and just want to make sure if this is the best forum to ask.
Thanks all!
I picked up my first 5200 recently, it came with 6 OEM controllers and a Trak-Ball controller. It appears to read the games fine, but I can't get past the "Press Start to Play" on any game. I looked into it a bit and everything says it's the controller, but I find it a bit hard to believe that all 7 controllers just don't work. Is it really just all the controllers? Or could there be something wrong with the system?
Hello fellow Atari gamers, I am brand new to the sub. As in I just found it today...
I have been an Atari fan since the 70's. My parents bought me a 5200 as a kid but they returned it rather quickly. I never really knew why. But we stuck with the 2600 for years afterwards. I purchased a used 5200 a couple of years ago and found this website (can't remember it now) that was a place in California you could send your joysticks to for an upgrade to gold something. Supposedly to help alleviate all the controller issues. Plus they sold a ton of old Atari controllers for all the systems.
Now that I'm at that age where I'm looking back on those simpler days I have a question...after many years of seeing (and owning) some of the Atari 2600 flashbacks, why has there never been one released for the 5200?
Is it because of the controllers? Licensing? Popularity? I know the library was small but there were some awesome retro games on there. Any ideas or theories are greatly appreciated.
Or someone could make my day and tell me there is one I missed and where I can find it!
So I recently acquired a master play 2 5200 interface. I just need to know is it still useable without the cord that originally came with it? If so can I get an aftermarket replacement cord? I am not quite sure what kind of cord it actually is. I’ve looked at the few clear pictures I can find of it and I’m at a loss. Any in fo would be helpful. Thanks!
Hey does anybody know where I can buy those plastic parts for the Atari 5200?? Like the controller door part and the little plastic cover in the front, is there any place I can purchase replacement pieces???
Does anyone have any good websites or places to buy controllers? Doesn’t have to be Atari brand as long as my dad can run them
I just replaced my flex circuit board on my 5200 controller, but it is still not working it worked for a few minutes then stopped again I don’t know what else could be wrong I even opened the console and messed with the thingy in there idk what else to do somebody come to the rescue please
I'm considering getting a 5200 as a collectors item. However i live in the UK (Pal region) and most sellers only sell NTSC models. How do i hook it up to a UK wall socket.
And considering the TV. I'm plugging it into a flat screen tv. Can i just use an adapter and plug it into the co axel port?
I'm also reading conflicting reports on whether PC DB-15 or NeoGeo extension cords will work.
Some say they're great while others say the plugs don't quite fit
How large of a game, memory wise can the 5200 handle? Would it be possible to port some random rpg, like Temple of Apashai or Wizards Crown and get it playable. Perhaps with some key mapping. At least on an emulator?
