Hey everyone - I have three Pitfall cartridges that don't work. I've tried cleaning them, and one works sometimes. Is there a way to get a 2600 cartridge and load a Pitfall ROM onto it? I just want to play Pitfall from a cartridge and none of the ones I've purchased have been good yet.
My grandson loves old games and old consoles. I saw an original Atari on eBay and thought about ordering it for him, but then I would have to buy all the game cartridges too.
I saw a new Atari on eBay”retro” console that has all the original Atari games preloaded. I wa about to order one, but then I read some of the reviews that said it was cheaply made and the joysticks were crap.
Does someone make one of these that is good?
What are some of the best atari games that feel like more than just "mini games"? I have access to basically all consoles so anything atari works!
Atari should never have sold this IP back in 2013 to Rebellion, without it Atari's catalog feels incomplete.
Before going on another big acquisition spree ( aka buying big entities like Digital Eclipse, Atari Age, Intellivision etc ) I think they should focus on getting back all the classic IPs that previous administrations sold off over the years ( yes I'm talking about you Mr Fred Chesnais... ) and Battlezone should be a top priority for them.
According to this article the stock price has gone up by 50% this past day alone, this is primarily because of the company's positive financial results in 2024 ( aka Atari doubled their revenue in comparison to 2023 reaching over 20 million dollars ). Investors are expecting even greater results in 2025 which explains why the stock price is rising so rapidly.
If Atari owns all of M Networks games and Intelivison games ..where are these titles in this list? Not to long ago someone said that the amount of games purchased by Atari and games listed as Atari IP did not match the amount of games owned by Intelivison. Atari claimed it purchased an entire library yet Intelivison never produced as many games as Atari claimed they purchased. Even Wikipedia references the amount of games made by Intelivison and the numbers do not add up. Are some of these IP's co owned and that's why they are not listed and did Intelivison have hidden games or uncompleted titles? Will these ever come to any Atari machine?
I’m 55. I had the classic Atari when I was a teenager. I fly a lot now for work.
What are your thoughts on these Atari specific mobile devices? Are any of them good and which one would you recommend?
Interested in the classic games.
my nf wnd i are OBSESSED w atari pong 3d and spend like $20 everytime we go out to play it and i wanna buy the Atari Mini Pong Jr. but i cant find anyone selling it, if anyone knows where i can buy one lmk?!!
Title explains, I want to be able to play it on my Atari 2600 JR, but dont want to have to pay a weeks salary for a copy.
Anyone know any good sellers who have copies?
There are a bunch of Asteroids clones on iOS and Android but they all have very dissatisfying control schemes. With no haptic feedback it's easy to lose track of where the buttons are under your thumbs. I am a games developer and I would love to create something that feels more intuitive but still captures the skill and fun of the arcade original.
Mobile is an intrinsically different interface, being a touch screen, and a lot of ports from console/arcade are just lazy and unimaginative in how they port the control scheme.
Does anyone here enjoy playing Asteroids on mobile?
My mom and I logged 100s of hours when I was a kid playing Food Fight and QBert and Frogger. I decided to bust out some ROMs and my 9 year old looked over to see what I was doing. I let him try Jungle Hunt and 45 minutes later, he had beaten it and wanted to try another. I gave him Kangaroo, which was equally as fun. Then I put on Food Fight. I was instantly transported to my childhood and we played all night trying to beat each others score. One of the best experiences I've had gaming with my kids.
Having a keypad, a trackball and a paddle all built-in to the handheld was stroke of genius, many games from Atari's classic Consoles and Arcade Cabinets can't be truly appreciated without using their original control schemes, modern gamepads just can't do justice to those old 70s/80s Arcade titles like Centipede and Asteroids.
I also like that they are going to include brand new Atari games like Centipede Recharged and the Balls of Steel pinball game, that means that this machine is going to be a lot more powerful than the low budget emulation devices we have been getting so far from Atari like the Atari 400 Mini and the Atari 2600+.
Very excited for this one !
What do you think we can expect for re-charged games in 2025?
and if you picked an old IP to re-charge, which would you choose first and why? (IP List Here)
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers : Rita's Rewind reached the number 3 spot in the Nintendo Eshop rankings ;
The Thing : Remaster is the fastest selling game in Night Dive's history ;
The 7800+ was a massive success launching in the peak of the Holiday season ;
Atari's games are reaching new audiences/more players since launching in the Netflix Mobile Game platform !
Very positive results overall, Atari has a lot of momentum going into 2025, let's see if they can keep it going ( I know they will 😉 ).
Which would you buy? If you have all of them, which do you prefer?
I am a huge Atari fan and I currently have the 2600 but I want to collect all of their mainstream consoles (including VCS but not the "+" models/series). Would getting the 5200 be worth it even though its basically a 2600 revamped?
I love all the games made by Pixel Games ( Donut Dodo, Cash Cow DX, Sir Lovelot and Sigi ).
Rikki and Vikki is fantastic
Music Racer Ultimate on PS5 ( it's basically Night Driver mixed with Synthwave music and aesthetics ) is simply incredible
Jetboard Joust is another great game
Do you enjoy any games made by other developers that are similar to Atari's offerings in recent years , if so then feel free to share your favorites below 👇
Edit: fixed now, just needed alcohol and q-tips. Thanks everyone!
Hey everyone! My kids and I received a 7800+ for Christmas, and I immediately dug out my old cartridges and bought a few that are used but new to me.
Out of over 20 cartridges only 2 aren’t working, and they are both Activision cartridges. I only have 3 total that are Activision cartridges. Is there an issue with Activision cartridges in general, or with the 7800+, or am I just unlucky? If it matters, the two “dead” cartridges are Megamania and Pitfall.
So, running into emu problems with the 7800+. First, I will point out there there are many carts the 7800+ plays that the 2600+ does not seem to like. It’s possible I missed a flash update for the 2600+, but I’m having much better luck overall with the 7800+.
That being said, visuals seem to appear disappear when emulating classic 2600 games. Missile Command for instance bomb trails intermittently turn invisible. This is running the game from the multi cart that came with the 2600+ on the 7800 plus. I believe this game has a variation that makes the trails invisible, but I checked and that’s not it. Same thing happens with Breakout and a few other titles. Assets just seem to turn invisible and not return until interacted with. Missle trails, balls, brick…all with games that run fine on the 2600+.
Known issue or anyone experiencing anything similar?
