Known as Sega Genesis in the U.S. and Mega Drive everywhere else around the world, it was the cool console to own in the 16-bit era! This subreddit is dedicated to the legacy of that console and the games that were (and are still being) made for it.

Nostalgia glasses off there's a few games from that era that I loved back then but I can barely play them for more then 20 minutes these days.
However there's still quite a few think holds up today; Sonic games and Street's of Rage (especially 2) never get old for me. Maybe it's something about the simple but addictive, pick up and play gameplay of those games.
Soleil is still one of the greatest Zelda clones I've ever played and actually better then a lot of modern Zelda likes.
Shining Force 1&2. Sure they don't have the depth of modern turn based strategy games so in that sense you could argue they're technically showing their age but that's kind of what I like about them and it they are still fun which is what counts. Also I don't think there's anything today quite like SF mix of tbs, rpg and free roaming exploration.
Desert Strike/Jungle Strike - played them recently and was instantly hooked again like I was back in the day.
I could go on but I'm more interested in which games you think still hold up and have aged the best.
How many of these have triggered your anxiety? https://youtube.com/shorts/03WX2njeCjI?feature=share
Hello! After 3 years of work, I've finally released my biggest project yet; Sonic Aeons, a 24 track love letter to the Mega Drive and the Sonic series. I hope you all enjoy!
Finally done recapping everything - including the modem and karaoke.
I’m curious to test out a connection with the Mega Modem and a compatible game. Having an Everdrive makes the selection on my side easy.
Anyone wanna try?
I check out the Road Rash improvement hack which increases the frame rate. Such a great game.
A couple weeks ago I started a series where I share my favourite Sega video games that were released in the UK. This is the first entry in the series where I reach the Sega Mega Drive. Staying loyal to my childhood I'm only sharing UK releases in all their 50Hz glory.
Ask any SEGA gamer about Streets of Rage and you’ll probably see nostalgic smiles with tales of late night co-op gaming with childhood friends. I think even today, if people had to rank the best beat ’em ups of all time, Streets of Rage will be somewhere on the top of the list. Its dynamic soundtrack with club beats bumping like a heart beat through stereo blew the minds of many young gamers.
So I thought I would do a complete retrospective video on the complete history of the Streets of Rage series. I hope you like my video. It certainly took time to pull together.
Hi, im looking to buy an original Sega Mega Drive but im not sure about something. Recently I bought a complete mega drive II for €28, and I’m looking for the original version along the side because I read it is better in some ways like sound. I’m not hoping to spend to much money on a complete one, so I’m looking to buy it as a loose console. The only thing is that I’m not sure if the power supply for the mega drive II would work for the original. If anyone knows it would help a lot! (Ps I’m still waiting on the mega drive II to be shipped) The photo is the included power supply with the Mega Drive II
Hello, I recently acquired a MD, so I decided to tear it down for cleaning. Was pretty dusty in there. But now my MD seems to rock back and forth on my table as if it’s warped? Also the bored inside doesn’t look flush when looking at it from the expansion bay. Is this normal?
Ask any SEGA gamer about Streets of Rage and you’ll probably see nostalgic smiles with tales of late night co-op gaming with childhood friends. Lots of kids in the 90s lived for these types of games. Beat ’em up was a huge genre and Streets of Rage was at the top of the pack. I think even today, if people had to rank the best beat ’em ups of all time, Streets of Rage will be somewhere on the top of the list. Its dynamic soundtrack with club beats bumping like a heart beat through stereo blew the minds of many young gamers.

I've noticed there is a dramatic difference between FM music emulated through Gens and the music as heard from the Genesis itself. The latter in particularly seems more "roomy" and "echoey" and less scratchy clean. Why is that?
