Just leaving this here, I know it will be appreciated ♥️ I remember my most magical journey as a little kid through this world
(I found it on the internet, I don't own this, credits are down there on the right)
Definitely no later than 1985. I believe I played it on a Commodore 64, but it could have been a Vic20. Gameplay was very simple: it was a Defender-style game, I think, with jets dogfighting above SoCal suburbs with terracotta tiled roofs & palm trees.
I've always recalled the name as "Raid over Beverly Hills," but it's possible it was 'Attack' or some other word, & I could even be wrong about the 'Beverly Hills' part. (Hollywood, maybe? I don't know LA at all, & knew even less about it in the 80s.)
The game I'm thinking of is not "The Taking of Beverly Hills," and definitely nothing to do with "Beverly Hills Cop." Also, it wasn't "Raid over Moscow," as just about the only detail I remember is the affluent, subtropical neighbourhoods scrolling past below the action.
There was very little to it, if I recall, but I'd love to see or play it again, just for nostalgia's sake. Does anyone remember anything about it?
I was surprised to find my son, who is yet a teenager, is into retro gaming. He is playing mostly NES, SNES, and PS1 games. I am surprised because retro-gaming is supposely for older guys to re-experience the games from their childhood. But why can it be attracting the new generation of young children? Could it be that the retro-games are more simple and suitable for children?
Platform(s): PC
Genre: educational I guess?
Estimated year of release: 90s
Graphics/art style: very simple 2d graphics, kind of the type of drawing you could do with MS Paint.
Notable characters & gameplay mechanics: it was made up of minigames. I remember one was a pink mouse you had to guide through pipes to find cheese. The mouse was viewed top-down I think. Another was a cow that played hide and seek.
Other details: The game was for very young kids, babies even, to learn how to use the mouse and such.
Any intel would be much appreciated!
I want it horizontal, with Nintendo 64 and gameboy games already installed. Preferably with hdmi connection, longest battery life and up to 100$ If there are any other aspects I should consider before buying share them in the comments Thank you for your help :)
Hello guys.
I've picked up Diablo from GOG and started my first playthrough. Do you guys have any tips to share?
I just hit 1,999* physical games.
I need a special game idea to be 2,000! Assume I own basically every console. I don't have an AES, but I have a NGCD... I have a wonderwan, ngpc, virtual boy... all the expected consoles... I don't collect physical pc games, at least as part of my "collection" (I do have an old win 98 pc and some games)
You can see most of my collection here. It is slightly out of date... but you get the idea. :)
Any ideas for number 2k? I'm willing to drop about $300 for the occasion.
Current front runner is Rondo of Blood. I've played it before in collections, and loved it, but never shelled out for an original copy despite having a pce cd!
Excited to hear some ideas!!
(Oh, I'm saving a 64DD for when I get my "full" game room. The wife says that and the associates games can wait ahaha
*doesn't count digital, regional duplicates, consoles, etc. Just straight up unique, physical software...
What's your favourite overhead view run 'n gun game (stuff like Commando) of the NES/SMS/7800 console era?
For me it's Time Soldiers on SMS. I love the variety of locations and the weapon feel.
I keep seeing these little machines. A lot of them are made by anbernick but I’ve seen other makers.
Are they worth it? If so, what’s the best one under 60 bucks?
I know about Custom Game Cases, Retro Game Protection, etc. I can't seem to find a place that does Super Famicom box reproductions with the original box art. Custom Game Cases are great but they only do SNES box art. Any suggestions?
Tis the season~
Since we're all into nostalgia anyway lets let our inner kids out and write up some gift idea lists~! (if anything you're going to help me pick out things to suggest to my own family for myself)
I had my PSX modded with Xstation a while back and I've backed my original collection of PSX games on a hard drive.
All of the titles so far have worked great, except for Cleopatra fortune. The issue is that the screen just cuts off the top and on the bottom of the screen.
I tested my PSX on different screens and the problem seemed to persist on this particular game. The screens I tested it on was a 50' TV and 20ish' TV. 20ish' TV had an even bigger issue of fitting the game screen than the 50' TV.
Then I went on to test the backup I made on different console environments and the same issue occurred.
Finally I tested the backup various emulators to see if the problem persists and it did. After extensive testing on emulators, only one had success with properly fitting the game screen.
I will be purchasing a retrotink to upscale the image as I am currently on RGB cables (Yuck) and I hope there's a side effect of retrotink fixing the screen issue, lol.
This is the NTSC version of the game.
With this I'm asking whether there's a way to resolve this issue on PSX or at least if someone could look into why this particular game acts this way. No issues with any of the other games I backed up.
I am ultimately trying to get hold of this text based adventure game that came with my Tandy 1000 in the mid 80's, but it doesn't seem to show up in any retro game search engine so I'm starting to question if I'm simply having a Mandela moment(?)
As far as I can remember it was called "The Granada Invasion", and you start on an island military base and there was some joke reference to Brooke Shields.
Does anyone else even know about this game and if it's available to download from anywhere?
Note - it was a pure text adventure, no graphics, there seem to be other sames with similar names but they're all graphical in some way.
i remember playing it a while ago but i forgot what it was called
all i remember it was some 2d puzzle game and all the characters in it had names like "the fool" "the world" and "the chariot"
Just wanted to take a trip back in time to discuss a very iconic shooter as while I know it’s hardly an obscure game, I wanted to have a simple discussion on it anyway to see what people most fondly recalled about the game.
Believed lost in a house move some years ago, just found in a miscellaneous box at the back of the attic.
Time to set up the SNES and play these bad boys!
Which one would you play first?
For me its the NEO geo. They did some things with 2d sprites that Ive never seen done before. and %80 of the library is actually good. no shovel ware.
What do you think?
Hey all,
So, this Playstation 1 (PS1) works properly as it should. But as the photo shows, the black cover over the laser has broken off. Thus, I removed it entirely. The console still works without it. But it has me curious, does it even matter? Meaning, should I make it a point to get a replacement piece or just leave it as-is? My only fear is that the exposed ribbon could get damaged OR it could damage a spinning disc.
Thanks for any expertise, tips or ideas

Hey all, I want to build something for my 8 year old (and myself). I have an older original Wii and a bunch of roms from when I installed homebrew on it. I really dislike that interface. However, now I see all these emulator sticks and devices for sale. Are there any ones that are legit like the ones that have the 40k games preloaded. I'm fine buying one of those so I can pull the roms and emulators from it. But I also don't really know where to get emulators and roms from anymore. Even if I wanted to download them I wouldn't know where to start!
Any help would be appreciated!
