Shout out to Nexwave video games in Edmonton AB for their awesome selection. I picked up a copy of this amazing game.
I know that this consle isn't cheap I'm just seeing if any games are remotely affordable. Also I know that Japanese games are cheaper.
What are some good 2d platformers for the Saturn
Considering how celebrated Raymond Briggs' characters are in the UK, it seems strange that Father Christmas never got a PAL release - as very text-heavy game so unless you're fluent in Japanese or want to Google Translate your way thru the game it's more of a collector's piece. More pics here

Hi guys!
Really, reallly disappointed with this Retro-bit Saturn V2 controller....
I wanted to update the firmware of my V2 Saturn Controller because it was experiencing incompatibility with the Saroo (it kept scrolling through the game menu, we already have a post with this issue). I never did any fw update for this controller before, soo...before I try to update it with V2 Pro fw, I wanted to attempt with the proper version.. FW 1.1 August 2024 (https://retro-bit.com/pub/media/downloadable/SEGA%20V2%20Wireless%20Controller%20Firmware%201.1%20-%20Wired%20Mode.zip)
I'm really sure I followed all the instructions in the pdf, carefully and correctly.
Downloaded the file, connected the controller to a PC, pushed a paper clip into the reset hole with start pressed, the light went purple and shut off...
And....after step "4. Select 'Download'and allow your controller to update." the controller simply turned off. The PC doesnt reconigze it, no light when I press the buttons or push the reset button backwards...
Did anybody already have this problem? Any ideas for what shoud I do?
I already sent an email to info@retro-bit.com (yesterday, dec 19 2024), but no answer yet.
Please help!
its from 1997, it works perfectly, (no audio issues, no video issues etc.) and i wont recap myself (it means too much to me for a hobbyist like me to try and recap) but should i check anyway?
oh, and its a UK model (grey buttons) if thats any help.

I own a Sega Saturn since a bit more than 3 months and I am more than loving it. These are the games I bought until now and I almost have all the games which I wanted to play the most. Still I have to finish Gungriffon and the first Z Gundam and I didn't play Samsho 4 yet. Definitely I am also going to take Kof 97, Panzer Dragoon and Last Bronx in the following months future. My grail would be Metal Slug with the RAM boundle but for now it is quite out of budget.
Hi folks hope someone can assist me. I’m using a Saroo cart to boot games and I’m using the latest firmware from early this year. There’s a small handful of games that are listed as fully playable on the official list but whenever I attempt to boot them I get a white screen. Can anyone assist? Thanks!
Picked up this gem on eBay for £19 pretty much mint 27 year old tape still fully intact question is do I opening or keep it un touched ?
Is anybody selling these http://antime.kapsi.fi/sega/usbcart/ ?
Ideally with a plastic shell.
I recently rediscovered my Sega Saturn in its original packaging so I'd like to get serious about homebrew dev. I'm more of a software guy and would prefer not having to solder it myself.
Edit:
So while tinkering with it some more i just swapped power cable. I mean for the saturn it's nothing special just a normal two prong power cable but that seemed to have done the trick. Was able to run a couple of games for about 15 minutes each and no real problems. So maybe that can be helpful to someone. Never had a cable half work before.
Sorry for yet another Saroo help post, i tried searching but couldn't really find anything similar.
So like many others i got myself a Saroo to see what it's all about. I received it about a month ago and it's just been on the shelf until I actually had some time to try it out. The issue I'm having is that it freezes. During the Saturn logo or sometimes just setting up the clock. Sometimes i make it into the actual Saroo menu. There I tried selecting a game (SOTN). I would boot and freeze at random times. I could never actually make it into the playable part of the game. I would enter a name and it would show the first screen of the intro where you know it says "journey back to 1792" and then it would just freeze.
I tried this with the SDcard that was sent to me with the cart (unaltered)
and also with another SDcard i bought myself since the quality of the Chinese ones can be.. well you know.
Same problem with the new SDcard. The file structure is the same as the SDcard provided by the seller since I just copied what was on the card over to the new one and added some more games.(The file structure matches this https://github.com/martinx72/SAROO_Firmware )
If I just have the Saroo inserted and no SDcard it will still freeze.(works fine without it)
Does anyone have any idea what this could be?
I'm using a Japanese V-saturn.Saroo cart version when it made it to the menu saysMCU:240627 SS:240627 FPGA:05SD card is a Sandisc 256 GB card. (Both formatted as "exFat". Don't know if changing to FAT32 would change anything since either or should be fine)
I have not tried upgrading it yet as I've heard some carts you can and some carts you can't?(But the firmware seems pretty recent no?)I have also not contacted the seller yet, since it's been a while since i actually got it. Don't know how much they can help since to them it's probably a done deal by now.
Anyhow would be great if someone could help me out, thanks in advance.
I was driving and saw a billboard for “Retro Rick’s - Largest game store in the South!” and knew I had to stop by. I really wish I took some photos inside because wow, what a great spot. I see a lot of game stores in my travels and this one had some fantastic stuff; they had a working PS1 store kiosk, a running N64 with SM64 on a CRT, a few arcade machines, fabric posters of box art, display cases of really rare games, and one of the biggest collection of Saturn Games I’ve seen in person (they had plenty of other stuff for other consoles, too. Including a TON of Japanese copies of games). They had some rare Saturn games, too! There was a complete in box copy of Albert Odyssey, and some other rare games like that in the $300 range. Again, reallyyy wish I took pictures for y’all.
If you’re in the area or passing through, I would say Retro Rick’s is a must go. Every game comes with a 120 day warranty and while I was there they had a buy 3 get 1 free promotion for any games and any consoles. It was the exact Justification I needed to pick up Clockwork Knight.u
I just got my saturn a few weeks ago and I seem to have misunderstood the action replay and how it works with Fenrir. I can't seem to have the RAM cartridge recognized in game to save files. This keeps resulting in me running out of save space with just a single save of Dragon Force and maybe 1 or 2 RPG saves. Then I have to decide if I want to manually back up all my saves to the 8MB memory of the action replay outside of the games, then delete the memory off the internal, then copy the save to what I want to play back on the internal memory...lol. Am I crazy or is there a far more convenient way to keep a large number of saves available for immediate access in whatever game I feel like playing that day? I probably am just misunderstanding something but I tried "booting games with C button" and that did not change anything as far as saving to RAM cart. Help if you can!
I had Been wanting this game for a while now, treated myself to an early Christmas present, something about the box art in this one makes me feel young again. Got it earlier today but had to go straight to work as I ran out of time. Can’t wait to get home and play it!
Startup gives a looping audio, then goes to the menu. I've tried the stock cd drive and a Fenrir but they both behave this way. Swapped the bios chip from a different model 2 board, but that didnt change anything either. Bought as faulty cd drive, but i found it is is missing the lid switch, so i know someone has been in here before. Any ideas as to what would cause this?
So I want to get a saroo, currently I have a pseudo Saturn loader, can I load backups with that and then swap in the saroo to use as a memory card?
