I already had the screen-less Saroo Saturn and love it, so as soon as I saw the Saroo Saturns with screens I ordered. It is quite playable as-is so I recommend them, but I'm an electronics nerd and I think it is using S-video? Because when the Saturn is not powered on, the screen OSD flips between AV and "SAV", and when you turn the saturn on it switches to "SAV" which I assume means S-video... I will be opening it up tomorrow:
This is all perfectionism and my endless need to improve on things, it's very very playable out of the box!
Edit: If anyone has any recommended settings for contrast and color etc to improve I am terrible at adjusting these kinds of things
I know this is a bit of a long shot. I bought one of these PSU replacements on Aliexpress and one of the components on the pcb is missing. Does anybody know what this is? Ordering the component will probably be quicker and more straight forward than getting it sorted out with the seller, if anybody can help with the part number.
It seems a bit ambiguous, I know there is an option to back up internal memory to the SD card but does this include the files on the save cartridge or just the memory on the console?
Sorry if this is a faq. Thanks for the help
I set up a Saturn with a Fenrir and an Action Replay. my only issue so far is some games are working but when I tried Marvel Super Heroes vs Capcom the game seemed to load fine and played the intro but when I press start to play it takes me to the Saturn Media player , I’m guessing it’s an issue with the bin/cue files ? I’m not savvy at all but I’ve gotten this far , any ideas to resolve the issue of games booting but then taking me to the media player ?
Any knowledge base on official seals and how games came? I just bought Gex which has some tape on the opening and I've seen DOOM and Crypt Killer online with full shrink-wrap and tape? Not sure what's real or not here...
I bought a saroo cartridge that had good reviews but when I plug it in nothing happens it just remains on the Saturn's main menu. Before I return it I thought I'd see if anyone knew what was happening? Thanks!
The Retroid Pocket mini released recently. It has a "Saturn " color option. How do you like it as a Sega Saturn handheld? Does the lack of 6 buttons bother you?
Gonna keep this short and simple for anyone very familiar with the game.
On this screen, (on the bottom texture specifically) does anyone know how far up can the Total Allies Killed count go? Like is 9 the limit? Or does it go up to 99 or perhaps even 999 (somehow)?
Thanks.
Hey so I was eBay I found this cartridge and I’m confused on what it is.
I just plugged in my Japanese Saturn to an Australian power outlet without the step-down converter. I hadn't used it in a few months and totally forgot it needed one. As soon as it turned on the console made a crackle noise and smoke poured out. I turned it off straight away, but fear the worst.
Is this just a game over, scrap this thing or is there a chance it can still work or be repaired? I'm a complete dunce about this aspect of things. I haven't tried turning it back on with the step-down converter as I'm afraid of doing any more damage. I can try and open it up and see if there's any visible damage.
I'm gutted. It's not even a year old, my light-gun just arrived and I was just about to play Polcenauts for the first time. Harsh lesson and I'm paying the price for being dumb. :(
This game is crazy! So much eye candy to take in, and the added content and art is much appreciated. Also, that vocal jazz inspired a cappella arrangement on the ending credits is absolute 🔥🔥🔥!
I had no idea that this game existed and I’m glad someone shared it with me. Not much more real gameplay beyond the original, but definitely a fun play through.
So I tried to install my fenrir duo but no matter what I do it won’t go past the disc format screen. Do I have it plugged in right? I’m plugging in the ribbon cable from the cd drive into the fenrir. But I noticed every guide I watched there’s only one ribbon cable in the Saturn but mine had two. The one coming from the base into that green chip then one from the green chip into the did drive. Am I just supposed to connect it to the one coming from the base and skip that green chip? I’m very confused.
I really want this have y’all played it
I live in Australia and have two Saturn games:
Fifa 96 (PAL)
Last Bronx (NTSC-J)
Whats the best way to rip the files? Do disc drive region locks have problems?
Iconic track for an iconic course in a killer game
Ive read several places that the retrobit bluetooth receiver should work with the 8bitdo retro arcade stick, but they won't connect. Any ideas or anyone know of a reciever that will work?
Planning on getting a This Is Cool Japanese import Saturn at some point and think they would look cool together (Currently own a standard black PAL model)
Hello, in from Italy. I apologize for my ignorance, I have a Sega Saturn USA. When I connect it to a Sony Trinitron CRT, the RGB message appears and the games are in color. However, when I connect it to my other TVs, it only displays in black and white. Is there a specific cable to see in color on the other TVs as well?"

I know a guy who is going to run into him soon, get your questions in! I'm asking them to ask him if he has heard anything about Saturn VF3.
I'm looking to pick up a 3D Controller for my newly-started Saturn collection, and am curious if it matters what region the controller is from.
I have a US Saturn (model 2). If I get a Japan 3D Controller, will it work on my console? Or do I have to stick with the same region for the controller?
Thank you in advance - sorry if this is answered somewhere, I did a search in this sub and didn't see an answer, but I stopped after about 15 minutes of searching.
Can you apply English patches with this or do I have to dump the game and apply the patch that way?
Edit: so I am actually looking for the SAROO and it’s still a little hazy whether or not I can patch them directly on the console. I will not be able to burn a CD.
Every game I try to play says game booting but nothing happens ? It was working fine last time I played what could be wrong ????
I just bought a used Sega Saturn with some games including Tomb Raider (the Japanese version). Have had no issues so far and have been able to play the other games I got, just Z button might be jammed. However with Tomb Raider, after pressing start on the main screen, I’m not actually able to enter the game. I read the manual and it says C to select which option on the main screen. But the C button has no response so I’m not able to actually play anything
Edit: I just noticed the red access light switches on when I launch Tomb Raider, and when I went to play Sakura Taisen the save data was gone. Maybe it’s an issue with the memory?
Hey everyone,
sorry for the second post. A while ago I made a post regarding getting a region free Sega saturn as my first console.
Since then I did a more research thanks to everyone's suggestions. but I do need a bit more help to be sure of what I am doing.
as some mentioned I should get a action replay card or a Saroo which I did end up finding so that is in the bag.
The problem that I have now is choosing the region of the system to buy. I live in a PAL territory so finding a PAL consoles easier, but then it comes with the 50/60Hz issue.
but if I end up getting a NTSC(J) console, it might be a problem getting a converter for the correct power for said system
I am sadly not so good with soldering so modding it myself will be a nightmare and might up ending more bad then good... So installing is a no go.
So my question would be if it is better to get a PAL system and just live with the small 50/60Hz issues, or get a NTSC(J) console and if so are there any converters so I can get the correct power output so I don't make the thing explode?
it's a Christmas present for my brother who is a BIG Sega fan so I want this to be as good as I possibly can.
All help is appreciated.
I’ve recently purchased a sega Saturn, and a saroo cartridge is on the way. While waiting in the meantime I’ve been burning CDs and playing a few games that way, like nights into dreams or Sonic jam.
All of my burned copies of official Saturn games run just fine. No problems there. But I’ve tried multiple different home brewed versions of sonic x-treme, but none of them have worked. Same burning method, same CDs, what could be causing it?
