Any alternatives to the rf box would be awesome.
It's way too old for me to just throw away but I don't really care to keep it since I have another one in a much better condition so I'm just trying to figure out if it is worth selling or I should just give it to someone I know for them to have.
Hey, I bought a odyssey 500 off ebay and didn't pay close enough attention to notice it only came with the rf adapter and no power cord, what kind of power cords will work with the odyssey 500? And just to double check, I don't need anything else right? I have the system with the cord coming out the back and the rf adapter, so I think I'm just missing a power plug. Thanks in advance
Would it be safe to retrobright my 1972 Magnavox Odyssey by leaving its cover (no insides just the cover) in the sun for a while? Kinda new so I would appreciate tips if it is possible, too. My odyssey isn’t in the best condition color-wise so I’d like to restore it too is former glory. Thanks!
⚠️SOLVED ⚠️Before I state the issue, I’d like to say that I’m a complete noob at this point.
My overlays for my Odyssey won’t stick to my CRT for some reason. I tried many, none stick, is this a TV problem or an overlay problem. Thanks
Hello all
I primarily collect Magnavox odyssey and am looking for rarer foreign systems if anyone had one for sale! Also any US or foreign advertising (I have some).

I've been a mod for quite a few of the retrogaming (and other adjacent) subs here for a long time -- even if kind of dormant recently. I love these topics, and how our digital "ancestors" solved hard problems, and how we've build a continuum of interest with their work. I started and even took over a few dormant subs and worked with /u/zadocpaet to help build a broad community here, even appealing to niche systems.
The mod teams are doing a great job, especially /u/Derf_Jagged. I feel like now is a good time to step down. I'm going to continue to lurk, and be a regular user and I wish the subs, the mods, and the users the best!
I was reading an article on the history of skateboarding video games, and the article had stated the first skateboard game was on the Magnavox Odyssey. It was called Skateboard Party. However, I can not find anything on this game. Does anyone know any information regarding the game?
Finally got one. From reading around, the blak has a run 1, 1a, 1b, and 2. Why does mine read 11? Both inside and the bottom read this.
On my odyssey, which is a run 1 blak, whenever the left player presses reset the ballspeeds to near screen center very quickly and serves from there when reset is pressed. Right reset works as expected, does anybody know what might be causing this? It makes games like submarine quite challenging for the attacker.
I just got my Odyssey 2, but I'm having trouble hooking it up. It's the earlier model with the box and the strange video connector. I tried replacing it with an rca cable and plugging it into the rf port like I do with my Atari 2600, but I don't get anything on the screen and no audio. My main tv is a ~2008 Polaroid that Atari games show up perfectly on, my other tv is much newer and Atari games don't work on it but the odyssey 2 makes garbled nonsense so at least it's alive. I can add pictures if you want, please help.
