Not sure about the AirPods 3

So at the moment I'm considering buying the AirPods 3, but I have some concerns and questions.

I know the AirPods 4 probably will be releasing later this year, is buying the 3s now a dumb idea?

I'd also like to ask about the sound of the 3s in loud environments. I currently own the 1st gen AirPods and these are practically unusable on a louder bus, which would be pretty important to me. Is this the case with the 3s too, since they don't have ANC? I wouldn't expect them to completely block the noise out, but it would be nice if I could still be able to enjoy music with them even on public transport.

Need iPhone passcode recovery without wiping the phone's data

My phone got bricked. Long story but I couldn't backup my phone for over a year because my laptop was faulty and I was waiting forever for apple to release the macbook air 15". My phone then fell out of my shorts while riding a roller coaster at six flags with my son. The park wouln't search for my phone and then they closed the ride for 3 months. I thought someone at the park was out to steal my phone so I put a new passcode on it so they couldn't use it. 3 months go by and my phone is finally returned to me, however I forgot the random passcode I put on the phone. Six Flags SUCKS!!!!!

I thought I would easily be able to reset the passcode from my other devices with the find my phone app but man was I wrong. I love Apple products but this is the biggest buffoonery I've ever seen from them. The phone has just been sitting here with no solution in sight and losing value. I have many vacation photos on the phone that I would like to have recovered.

There are all of these chitty apps that claim to hack the passcode, but what is the point if you have to delete the data off the phone? It's completely pointless.

iMac (2015) Power Issues

Hi there,

Recently received and refurbished a 2015 21.5" iMac for a client, and all was going well. It is stock hardware, except a new Kingston SSD. The client received the device, and it was working with absolutely zero problems for around 2 months. Then, out of the blue, it stopped turning on.

There were no diagnostic lights on when I connected the AC power, and so I replaced the power board. However, the issue was not resolved.

My current situation, is that out of all four diagnostic lights on the logic board, only one lights when AC power is connected. It is light #4 which goes green. There is no startup sound, and no signs of life whatsoever on the display.

Should my next step be a new logic board? There are some working ones out there for around 34GBP.

Thanks 👍

There is a thin bar on the upper right corner of my iphone crossing through the battery, wifi and bars logo. Anyone know what it is?

There is a thin bar on the upper right corner of my phone crossing through the battery, wifi and bars logo. Looks like this a bit

at first I thought it was my screen protector but I peeled back the screen protector and the bar is still there. funny part is when I take screenshots of it, it disappears completely.

when I turn off my phone and turn it back on, there’s like a red and green ish background on that same upper right corner, the rest of the iPhone is black though when the Apple logo appears in the loading screen before the phone is completely on.

anyone know what this is?

Which computer would perform better for someone with pretty heavy demands on processor?

Trying to decide between (2) options currently on sale at Costco.

  • MacBook Pro (MacBook Pro (16-inch) - Apple M3 Pro chip with 36GB Memory, 12-core CPU and 18-core GPU, 512GB SSD - Model #: MRW23LL/A

  • Mac Studio: Apple M2 Max chip with 12‑core CPU, 30‑core GPU, 512GB SSD - Model #: MQH73LL/A

I frequently need to have up between (30) to (50) tabs active with frequent usage of proxies/VPN, and my current MacBook Air just hasn't been able to keep up.

On pure performance, which of these (2) computers would perform better? I would prefer a laptop, but if the Mac Studio is significantly better in terms of speed and load management, I don't mind a desktop setup.

Thank you.

hard reset iphone 11

I have an iphone 11 that’s unresponsive to touch, and I want to hard reset which I believe is pressing the up and down volume button and holding the power button. Will this delete all my data like my photos?

Why did I get a notification saying my Apple ID is being used on a new device

I have a Mac & an iPhone using my Apple ID. I was on my phone when I got a notification saying my Apple ID is being used on a new device & the name indicated it’s my laptop. However, I didn’t recently connect or update the Apple ID on my laptop, and in fact, my laptop was in sleep mode when I got this notification. Does this mean my laptop or Apple ID was hacked?

Enable messages in icloud?

So earlier i received an imessage on my mac and i quickly clicked on it. I must have confused my iphone 15 because i didnt end up receiving that text on my phone, or the text that the person sent an hour later. However, i can see my texts that i sent them on both my mac and phone.

Fast forward to me messing around with stuff, i enabled messages in icloud, which the only thing it did was allow me to see and receive messages from android users when previously it was just iphone users on my mac. I just turned it off, since it kept saying that syncing was paused and i read that it hurts your storage. Plus im ok with just getting texts from iphone users on my mac.

So is that what "Enable messages in icloud" means? That i would also get android messages on my mac? I turned it off but i still received a message from an androod user afterwards.

Also, i was able to have another iphone person text me and i received it on my phone. So did i maybe hit something i shouldnt for the first person on my mac?

Thanks!

iPhone 13 Pro Max shows unknown charge from msbill.info on American Express card in wallet history

Is anyone getting unknown charges in their iPhone wallet transaction history? I’ve seen three in two days for $1.10 each. On my American Express card.

They don’t show in the Amex app. Yes I’ve talked to American Express and they say there is no fraud and my account has not been compromised.

iOS 17.4.1

Data transfer question

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, im not the best with this kinda thing. Basically, getting new phone tomorrow, old one is pretty smashed up and turns itself off every 2/3 minutes. I'd ran out of icloud storage and havent done a backup in ages coz of this. I've now upgraded my cloud storage, but can't complete a backup on my phone as it turns itself off before i can complete it. Will I still, on my new phone, be able to access data that hasn't been backed up, got some important photos etc that i need to keep. Also ik its not entirely apple-specific, but would ideally like to be able to get my whatsapp data on my new phone, but again will struggle to do the transfer because of the issues on my old phone. If anyone could advise would be much appreciated, aware i probably sound like an actual old lady rn lmao.

ICloud recovery without iTunes

So my old phone was 17.4.1 and the new one is maxed out at 16. So I can't restore from icloud. I can't force a firmware upgrade because the iphone X hardware isn't compatible with the update. So my apps are all lost but I can still restore contacts etc with tools like Wondershare Dr Fone, but it's expensive. Are there any free tools that help with this?

Why can’t I spend money from my Apple ID balance? {IPad}

It’s simple, I wanna buy an app on the AppStore. I have the money for it in my ID balance. HOWEVER, when I go to purchase it, there’s no button I can press to buy it, it’s either “add more funds” or “redeem” or I use a Visa card that’s connected to it (I think it’s my dads). And no, I don’t have a credit card / debit card.

What do I haft to do to be able to use the money on my balance? (It’s from an old gift card I got from a few years ago go)

Apple Gift Card Question -- Apple Support?

I have a friend who recently purchased two Apple Gift Cards from a well-known supermarket in the Los Angeles area. She has her receipt of purchase, that includes the date of purchase.

When she tried to redeem the two gift cards, there was an error indicating that they had already been redeemed -- and they were redeemed BEFORE her date of purchase from the supermarket -- meaning, she, of course, did not redeem the gift cards.

She went back to the supermarket, to return the gift cards, and they refused to allow her to return the gift cards.

She called Apple Support, and was told, "sorry, there's nothing we can do." She asked for a Supervisor, and was told the same thing, by the Supervisor.

Given that she has her receipt of purchase, showing that the cards were redeemed BEFORE she actually purchased them, shouldn't the supermarket and/or Apple Support work with her to achieve a refund?

The purchase was a significant amount of money, for her, to put it mildly.

Is it illegal for them to refuse a refund?

Respectfully, what recourse does she have?

If you have any thoughts, information, suggestions, or ideas, please, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If im using an old device logged in with another person's apple id, is there any way for that person to check it?

So recently i found my sister's very old ipad, unused in at least 2 years. Im planning on using it, but unfortunately its still signed in with the apple id that she's currently using. I can't log out as i'd need her apple id password for that. So i need to know if there's any way for me to use the ipad (install apps etc.) without her seeing it on her current ipad and iphone? Or just any way i could log out without knowing her apple id password? Thanks in advance for the help.

iPhone charging port has got something in it, tried cleaning it to no avail

When I try putting my charger in it feels like there’s a little something, maybe a grain of sand or something like that, preventing it from going all the way in, making it nearly impossible to charge. I followed all the advice I see online: I got a bright light and looked in, didn’t see anything, I tried very lightly scraping the inside with a needle, nothing. Any ideas what else I can do?

I’m trying not have to go to a shop because I feel like they’ll fix it in two seconds and charge me 50 bucks for it.

I know it's unlikely, but is there any way to combine shared albums?

Here's the deal...

My mom, siblings, sister-in-law, and I all have a bunch of shared albums from holidays, events, and vacations where we each share the pictures we took so everyone has access to all of them. For example....Florida 2020, Christmas 2021, So and So's Birthday 2022, etc. You get the idea.

On Christmas last year, I created a shared album just called Family Pics so we wouldn't have to keep creating so many shared albums. It starts with Christmas pictures from 2023, and I think we may have added some pics around Easter. It seems like an easier way to share pictures going forward.

My question is: Is there any way to kind of...meld those older albums into this one without everyone having to resubmit individual pictures? I know I could easily download them all and then add them all back in, but I would like to maintain the original person who posted each picture. Trying to organize everyone going back in their individual libraries to resubmit all these old pictures would basically be impossible at this point, especially since so may of us have probably saved pictures from these shared albums now and there would be duplicates.

Notification saying new device added for FaceTime

Today, I turned on my iPad after not using it for a month or two. Right after doing that, I got a pop-up notification on my iPhone, saying a new device is using my FaceTime. I checked my iCloud devices and Find My, and there were no new devices on there. Even though my Apple ID and FaceTime were already on that iPad, I’m assuming it’s just because I haven’t used that device in a while, and it was just trying to reconnect to my FaceTime? I’m not sure if this is expected behavior or if I should be concerned.

Migration assistant doesn't do anything when I select my time machine backup

My MacBook Pro 2019 (no touch bar, Big Sur) recently died. I have a Time machine backup on an external drive.

I just bought a MacBook Air M3. When I go through the migration assistant, my time machine appears. I can select my MacBook pro's time machine, then the last backup (25th of April). But then when I click "continue" nothing happens... Absolutely nothing! The continue button becomes gray. If I select the other folder "MacBook Pro" it becomes clickable again. When I click It... Still nothing.

Note that outside of Migration assistant I can access time machine and restore files without issue (it's just always saying that the "parent folder doesn't exist). It only works if I select things one by one...

I've searched everywhere including this sub and haven't found anything like that. Can you help?

Iphone 13 GPS, Wireless Pay, and Top Speaker suddenly not working

As the title suggests, im not sure what to do, there is little information online about these kinds of issues. The other day I noticed that my tap to pay isnt working anymore, which I regularly use.

Simultaneously my phone's GPS no longer works and cant find me precisely on Apple Maps, Waze, or Google Maps, when I route, it does not follow my location nor work period.

On top of this, my top speaker suddenly does not work, and answering phone calls is a pain because I have to do so through only on speaker or with my airpods in. Before my top speaker completely gave away though, for one day any phone calls i'd get would be extremely muffled and crackling on the top speaker.

All of these issues suddenly became present simultaneously on the same day, what could have caused all this? I updated my phone to latest IOS update (17.4.1) in hopes of fixing this but I currently have the same issues. I did not crack or break my phone at any time, nor does it have any sort of water damage. Anyone have any ideas?
