I have an iPhone 16 pro that has stability issues. They are going to perform a mid system repair on my iPhone once the parts come in.
I believe it replaces everything but the display and back cameras? Will the front sensors such as the ambient lighting sensor also be replaced?
hello reddit, this is semi-urgent. i am trying to recover a video attachment that was sent over a year ago. when i check my icloud settings, it does say that my messages are kept forever and o have never changed this setting.
however when i log into icloud there is no app/option for messages.
i appreciate anyone’s help with this. i am trying to combat a landlord who is trying to charge me $300 for something i know is not my fault.
So I have an old iPhone that has been disconnected from the internet/phone service. I recently reconnected and was trying to transfer a bunch of photos/videos to my current iPhone as I don't have them on my current phone. They also aren't in my iCloud obviously either. However, during the backup/sync as I reconnected the old Phone to the internet, all the old stuff was automatically deleted. I was wondering if there is any possible way to recover them? They're not in recently deleted either. I realise now I should have tried transferring them without the use of internet.
Sooo…long story short my boyfriend….small brain…clicked on an unknown link sent by a friend on instagram and it immediately logged him out of his instagram
not even 10 minutes later his apple id got compromised and the hacker immediately changed his password and the phone number associated with his account
so i immediately tell him to change the emails and passwords to everything, set up 2FA, and restart his phone while i make a new apple id for him
here’s the thing he cannot log out of his apple id unless he provides the NEW phone number associated with the account the hacker was clever enough to change the phone number so long story short, he can’t log out of his apple id unless he provides the hacker’s new number which obviously he doesn’t have. is there any way to resolve this? will making a trip to the genius bar help? because i was otp w apple support and nothing at all they can do to help unless we have the hackers new number
i just want to know if there’s anything he can do to at least to save his phone before we may have to trade it in for a new phone
(i also know this is mainly on him for not securing his account but just wanted to know if there’s anything else to solve this problem!)
Is it just me, or is the phone running hotter with 18.3? I have a game called Wordament and swiping gets really hot on my fingers.
The back side doesn’t seem too warm, just the front. (15 Pro Max).
Hey everyone,
I’m sure this is a common concern, but after reading various guides and forum posts, I’m still not entirely confident about how to fix this, and I really don’t want to mess anything up.
I’ve been sharing the same Apple ID with my dad and brother for years—since I had my first iPod touch in fourth grade. Over time, it’s led to me having all their photos, contacts, music, app data, and so on mixed in with mine. I’ve tried turning off iCloud sharing for specific apps, but I still keep getting their stuff on my phone. I’m in my mid-20s now, and I’m just done with sharing one account.
I want to create my own Apple ID and move my specific data (music, photos, contacts, app data, files, etc.) to that account. But from what I’ve read online, it seems like transferring all my stuff is more complicated than just switching accounts. I keep seeing people say that once you move away from an Apple ID, data is tied to that account and can’t be transferred, but I’ve also read there are ways to keep a copy of all your data and bring it over to the new account. I’m just not sure if that’s possible, or how exactly to do it.
Also, since my family shares an Apple One subscription, will I need to buy my own plan once I create my own Apple ID? I’m fine with paying for my own subscription since I handle most of my own expenses, but I’m just trying to figure out how this works.
Sorry if I’m rambling, but I’ve been trying to sort this out on and off for a while and haven’t found a clear solution. If anyone has any advice or knows how to make this transition smoother, it’d be a huge help!
Thanks!
I’ve always been skeptical about my phones safety, I hard that it’s really hard to breach but i’ve been noticing many things I’m using an iPhone 14 PM on the latest IOS these are the stuff i’m noticing
Random Photos in photos app disappearing
Suddenly stops sharing location with certain people
Apps moving around by itself (mis matched)
Messages immediately disappearing to thin air after clicking send on imessages (sometimes)
Green dot showing when I click on it it’s the camera app using my microphone and location services aswell (once)
-Screen goes black with a buffering icon then brings me back to my home page randomly
-Occasionally the photos app doesn’t take pictures, when I click the button to snap a photo nothing happens I see a snap but it doesn’t take the photo I have to restart my phone to fix it
Does anyone know why? Please and thank you
I decided to try it when it was added in the new update and my experience is horrible but I can’t figure out how to turn it off. Can anyone help?
I jumped into waist-height sea water getting out of a boat with my iPhone 12 in my pocket thinking it would be fine and having never exposed it to water in its life. Put it in a dry place straight after and went on with my day.
It started boot looping a couple hours later and eventually came back on with FaceID not working. I restarted the phone to see if it would help which got it boot looping again and it eventually got stuck in recovery mode. Tried to update and restore with iTunes without any luck and getting an unknown error code 4013. I thought the phone was all but dead and was getting ready to go get a 16.
Did some digging online and found 3Utools which I used to flash iOS 18.3 which has bought it back to life. FaceID still not working. I assume the phone is fucked and I should back it up and get ready to purchase a new phone or is it worth trying to get it assessed for any water damage that could be problematic later down the road?
a few days ago i fell asleep on my phone (iphone 13 iOS 18.1.1) while unlocked and i somehow managed to delete and handful of very important text conversations, which go back years cause i don’t delete them.
i was able to recover them from the “recently deleted”. however when i use the ‘search’ feature in messages, nothing from those convos pre-deletion shows up. and if i go into a conversation, click on the name at the top, and go to where you can just see the photos, they only go back a few days before the deletion.
it’s all there, i can physically scroll back and texts/images/videos from like 2, 3 years ago are still there, but i can’t locate them the “easy” way. is it just a syncing/refreshing thing that will resolve itself, or is it permanently messed up? cause i do search for old messages or photos i’ve sent/received for various reasons, i’d be pretty upset if i can’t do that anymore
edit: it actually seems to be random which photos show up, but it’s definitely not all of them. there are ones that i must’ve sent/received months ago at the least, but there are ones i know i sent/received a couple weeks ago that aren’t there. not sure if the same is true for the texts, i don’t know the exact wording of things enough to look for anything intentionally. all i know is what i want to find isn’t there.
Sorry for any weird format, I’m on my phone.
I want to start by saying I do NOT have Apple Music. If I like a song, I just buy it from the iTunes app.
Two weeks ago (give or take) I decided to backup my iPhone (14 pro) to my laptop as I hadn’t done so in like 2-3 months (I have a hp laptop - idk if this is useful info, I’m not that great with tech so I’m not sure if knowing this makes a difference to anything). I had noticed that a lot of the songs I had bought and arranged into my own playlists had been removed from said playlists (and any other playlist I added the song to).
I was so confused and added them back, backing up my phone to iCloud and my laptop (wasn’t sure if backing up to both would help or make a difference - still don’t), but they were removed again.
This happened a few times before I noticed the little cloud symbol in the corners of each album on the iTunes homepage. I clicked on them and assumed that would help. All of this honestly just started to piss me off bc I wasted like 4 hours adding the songs back to the playlists over and over (there were a lot of songs that were removed) and decided after 4 hours that I wouldn’t plug my phone back in and it was a problem for future me when it was time to backup my phone next (… :/ I’m also pissed off at myself for that too).
I connected my phone to my laptop yesterday to import photos (not all were showing up so that’s another problem but idc about that right now tbh) and I decided to kill two birds and clicked on iTunes to click the cloud on a new song I bought (again, I thought this would help with making sure it stayed on my phone). I disconnected my phone from my laptop and like an hour or two later I went to listen to one of my playlists and noticed the songs were removed again.
I don’t understand why they are being removed. Some of the songs have been on my phone for like 6 months, and I can’t figure out what it is that I’m doing or not doing that is constantly removing them from the playlists.
Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong or what I need to click on iTunes to stop this? I also have some songs converted from YouTube to mp3 but they are all still in their playlists. I understand this probably has an obvious solution and this post just sounds like an idiot rambling but assume I’m an idiot (I might be) and dumb it down for me. What is going on?
When the camera is open it looks like a nice crisp photo, but when I take the photo and open it in my camera roll everything gets this weird smoothed over look. It’s like all of the sharpness and shadows just get removed. It’s not portrait mode, just normal camera, and live mode isn’t on. I don’t think I’ve touched any of the other camera settings as well
Is there a way to turn this off?
I know it’s a tricky one but can anyone tell me ? Thanks for your help
I did try to do research for this question, and I couldn’t find anything that answered my question directly.
I have an old IPad 6th generation that I mostly use for art. I’m not sure of its current IOS but in general settings it says “Software Version 12.2” and I think that might be it? The model number is “MR6R2LL/A”.
In the Software Update tab, it says I need to connect my device to ITunes on a computer to update it. My problem is, I’ve downloaded ITunes on two different laptops and attempted to do the download and it hasn’t worked. It always came up with some sort of error. One’s an old Dell Laptop and one’s an old HP laptop.
Can you only do this kind of update with a Mac? I’m so lost here and I’ve been trying to figure it out for over a year. Is it just not possible?
My last resort would probably be taking it to some kind of tech shop, which I really don’t want to do. I don’t have the money to buy a whole new IPad, or get expensive repairs.
If you reply, please don’t be a jerk in the comments. I have like no knowledge of software so even if the answer is obvious to you, it’s not to me. Thanks for reading.
I work as a student tech support specialist for my college’s dining department. I’ve been working with the graphic design department lately to figure out replacing some of their outdated computers with Mac Studios. The design supervisor loves reusing old Macs as displays; there’s currently two workstations using 2017 and 2019 Macs, respectively, each with a 2010/2011 Mac as their display. There are also two late 2015 Macs that we potentially want to use as displays. These use Thunderbolt connections instead of Mini DisplayPort, and we don’t have any Thunderbolt cables/adapters lying around. Before I order a Thunderbolt to USB-C adapter, I wanted to ask if anyone has any experience with this. We’ve had luck because the Mac Studio worked great with the 2010 as a display, despite the Mac Studio being 2022 and running Sequoia. Anyone know? Or any advice about an alternative?
Recently I went to check my gallery for a certain photo and noticed everything from may 2024 to when I first got my iPhone (2016) has suddenly disappeared. I checked recently deleted, my iCloud, and everywhere it could possibly be stored. I can’t seem to find them and Apple support was no help. Is there anyone who has had this issue and knows a way to fix it. I really need the photos/videos back as they contained memories of my dog who past away. I have a iPhone 13 if that helps. It’s not backup to iCloud and it’s on updated.
My Apple One subscription is $40 a month, which equates to about $500 a year. I have 4 or 5 other Subscriptoins. Lets say I add $5000 to my Apple Account and then I go hike the Appalachian Trail for a year (barely using my AppleID)... Presumably if I have enough money already "pre-loaded" up into my Apple Account, all my Subscriptions etc would be automatically paid ?
I found this article: https://support.apple.com/en-us/118245 which notes certain things you cannot pay for. OK.. I don't do those things.
It looks like Apple Account balance can be used on pretty much anything (even buying a new MacBook through the online store)
Am I missing something here ?.. It seems like having a few $1000 up in my Apple Account might be a good "insurance policy" to help keep my account covered in case anything happens.
Hello, I recently bought an iPhone 12, when I was connecting it to Wi-Fi only 5 GHz networks appeared, while 2.4 GHz did not, then my friends tried to share the internet with me, it did not appear in the list of networks (they were 2.4 GHz), I need It helps since every place I go l never have wifi.
I'm trying to organize my digital life and I don't get something about the Apple password manager. Let's say I only own an iPhone and have all my logins credentials saved inside the Apple passwords, so they are stored in my iCloud. I am on a trip and lose my iPhone, my only Apple device, or it gets stolen, it gets crashed by a rock. I now want to erase it. I go to the nearest device available, use findmy and erase it. Now I want to recover my iCloud account through some form of 2FA, which I cannot do because I'm far away from home and had carried only one device, so this is enough hassle and I'm basically locked out of everything until I'm at home, granted that I can go home because nowadays everything is done online. But anyway, let's just pretend that this is a normal thing. I now want to retrieve my logins, so I use a random computer running windows. I install iCloud and now I can't access my logins because in order to do that I need my iPhone nearby connected to the same wifi. Is this a joke or what? I don't get it.
Hi guys,
I’ve been experiencing an issue for about two months with my Nike Apple Watch Series 7 where third-party app notifications (like WhatsApp) aren’t coming through. However, notifications for iMessage and incoming calls work fine.
I’ve already tried factory resetting my watch and re-pairing it with my iPhone 16 Pro Max, but the issue still persists.
PS: I’m running watchOS 11.3.
Any advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
So let's get this out of the way first. I know this PC is very old now. I got it for free from a friend and with my "more than beginner" motherboard repair knowlege, I would like to learn further and if possible fix this computer.
Diagnosing:
Plugging in the AC cable, it remains OFF. Upon pressing the power button, I can hear fans, HDD and disc reader come to life and remain like that, fans stay at a low speed like during normal operation. No chime, literally nothing.
After seeing this, I decided to swap RAM, try all the slots with just one stick and swap in between 2 ram sticks for each slot at a time. Nothing. So I knew it was time to take it apart, after removing the screen and finding diagnostic LEDs, after plugging in AC cable, LED1 is green, which is a good sign. After pressing the power button, LED1 stays on but all other LEDs are off. Fans spinning, now going to MAX speed after 15 seconds as it should when unplugging temp sensor on the screen, and everything remains as mentioned before. The fact fans go full speed tells me that motherboard works, but main components aren't getting proper power to work. This is where I got stuck as I don't want to disassemble the iMac further before doing some more research.
I wasn't able to find this exact problem anywhere on the internet, so I am asking you for help. Any ideas where to start? From my research it appears as if the power supply switches on but the motherboard does not power on properly, maybe faulty voltage regulators, who knows.
Any experience with this issue? Any real help and advice? My friend gave it to me thinking the GPU is dead but I don't think so from the diagnosis to this point. Maybe both, GPU and motherboard are faulty, I am lost as it could be anything. It seems that the PSU works by the fact that all accessory parts get power.
