It’s a 2015 MacBook… just that thin MacBook with 12 inch display and shtty butterfly keyboard
I noticed this app while cleaning up some apps on my Mac. It doesn't let me open or delete it. Does anyone know what it is and how I can get rid of it?
No matter whether I download the games from Steam or the Riot launcher, the game files are automatically placed in iCloud. Since I only play these games on my Mac, why do I need to store them in iCloud? What purpose do these files serve? Can I move them elsewhere? Will moving them affect my games in any way? How can I prevent the game files from being automatically installed in iCloud the next time I install a game?
This has been bothering me for a long time
I’m a long-time Windows user considering switching to Mac. Are there any inconveniences I should be aware of?
My current PC has 32GB of RAM, and I often keep many browser tabs open. Can a Mac with 16GB of RAM match the performance of a Windows machine with 32GB?
Since upgrading RAM on a Mac is so expensive, can I opt for more RAM but less internal storage and rely on Thunderbolt 4 for storage expansion? Would that significantly increase power consumption and impact battery life?
I noticed that the base model of the Mac Studio with the M1 Max comes with 32GB of RAM and is the cheapest M-series Mac with 32GB of memory. Is it a good idea to buy a second-hand one?
HELPPPP. I have been using my ipad as a second monitor for a while now. Not until this happened. I tried signing out and signing in again and again both on my ipad and macbook. Also tried restarting both devices for how many times. I even tried resetting mg ipad's settings. Nothing worked. My ipad's screen mirroring works well tho so i figured maybe the problem is the macbook.
I cannot even use my ipad as a second monitor using my charger cable. SEND HELPPPPP. 🥲
Could I have mashed it too hard? I was watching a yt vid and all of a sudden it kept reversing like I was hitting the back arrow but it didn't stop when I pressed it so I pressed the right button instead and it stopped. Unfortunately, after that the key didn't work anymore. Restarted, shut down, soft restarted, cleaned, nothing it working and I don't know what to do
I'm hoping someone can suggest the easiest/safest options for transferring files to a new 2024 MacBook Air. I'm a 50-something woman who is not very knowledgeable about the process or terminology, so patient explanations appreciated. :D
SITUATION: I have files on three different macs (A 2011 iMac, 2013 MacBook Pro, 2020 MacBook Air).
GOAL: Move all files/documents/photos to a new 2024 MacBook Air without it overwriting any files/folders that might share the same name. (I don't need to move apps, email, contacts, settings.) I know this will be a multi-step process, but I'm not clear on the most straightforward approach.
Specific issues/questions:
Migration Assistant: Should I use Migration Assistant to bring 2013 MacBook Pro files to 2020 MacBook Air before transferring to the new MacBook? If so, how can I keep MA from overwriting files/folders with the same name?
iCloud: Is there a way to use iCloud to accomplish this? I'm confused about how it deals with files from multiple Macs and a little afraid to lose my data.
TimeMachine: I will have to use TimeMachine for at least the 2011 iMac files. Is it worth getting a new external hard drive and finding adapters for the outdated ports on the iMac (Thunderbolt 1, USB 2.0 A, Firewire)? Or should I just find an adapter for the hard drive they're on now (a 2007 LACIE D2 with SATA2)?
Feel free to let me know if I'm overlooking something. I really appreciate it. Thanks.
I am a musician and make music through an app like ableton. I also edit videos, and play a bit of games like hearthstone or warcraft. Will the m1 macbook be enough for all this ? And is it okay if it's a 2020? Thanks for the reply!
Mac desktop is able to work & have sleep mode turn off but when it does go in sleep mode screen is just blank it does nothing
Try to post video in only letting my do pictures 🤷🏾♂
How does it look? and don't forget to share yours
Not a product that has slots to fit in the keyboard and trackpad separately. One product that does it all. Everything on Amazon is either bad reviews, zero purchases, or looks cheap. Someone’s gotta have a recommendation please!

i just got a macbook today and i don't want any of my photos and videos from my iphone or the cloud going onto my macbook. i don't want it synced. i want things from my phone only on my phone, and things from my macbook only on my macbook (personal organization reasons, i want it brand new and cleared out), but im not sure how to do this. i haven't even turned it on yet so im asking for help from the beginning of setting it up. thanks!
It’s just a question that has been around in my head
From what I can tell, window managers is by far the largest category of Mac apps. I regularly see new window manager apps on r/macapps and simple searches can show posts listing a whole bunch of different ones. I was very overwhelmed with the list and downloaded several to try. Months later, I'm not just using Rectangle free version to show windows on the right or left half of the screen, either full-sized, half, or 1-2/3rd. Only a few different hotkeys for position and sizing windows. I only have 1-2 windows focused at a time and have hotkeys set with Hammerspoon to switch between frequently used apps. I feel like a lot if not most of these apps are for fine-grained control and niche features which the vast majority of users would never need.

hey y'all! i'm looking to get a refurbished macbook pro. i'm a graphic designer so i use a few heavier programs (mainly just adobe stuff but i also want to be able to run OBS occasionally), but i'll be honest, i'm clueless with super techy jargon. a few questions:
i'm currently running on a 2016 15-inch and it's treated me well, but it's slowing down and it loses its charge a lot faster than before. apparently apple won't service it lol. any recommendations or advice appreciated!!
I have the MBP m3 pro and I started having an issue where when I try to open an incognito window in safari and try to maximize it just half of the screen goes black see picture below. Anyway I have tried going into safe mode by pressing and holding the power button then shift clicking the drive, going into the recovery settings and holding shift while starting up and I can't get safe mode to work. Currently running iOS 15.1.1. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to get it to go into safe mode or fixing the safari issue because clearing cash did not fix that I would really appreciate it.
I just purchased a Apex 3 TKL and I had the full non-TKL version of the Apex Pro, I like these light up keyboards for my setup because its usually very dark. I had the non-TKL apex pro so long ago I cant compare them, my T key on my magic keyboard broke, I will get it fixed but I bought these keyboards because I perfer them.
I am considering buying the Apex Pro, I dont care about the per key lighting zones because I just set all the lights to purple. But the pro you have a mechanical switch but on the Apex 3 you dont, you have basically membrane dome switch keyboard. I do like the silence of the membrane keyboard but I was wondering if I should make the switch.
The base (whats around the keys? dont know what its called) on the apex 3 is a plastic but on the pro i believe its metal, as it was metal on my full size apex pro. I do like the plastic more because when you touch around the keys, like when your bored, its not cold like the metal like, lets say, around the magic keyboard.
In the title I also say I dont care too much about keyboards and the quality, by that I mean how the key presses, I grew up on macbook keyboards and I'm perfectly fine typing on any of them.
TLDR: I want to buy an Apex Pro but I don't use its light feature as I make it all a single color, switching from an Apex 3, Apex Pro has mechanical switched while Apex 3 has dome switches. Around the keys is metal on the Pro, while on the 3 is plastic.
Hi All,
Hoping someone knows what is happening, I was pretty happy with the my browser and my outlook. but then this morning, I was unable to Drag&Drop Files to any browser except safari from my Outlook App.
Does anyone experienced this and have a solution?
OK, so I don't even remember how or why it happened, but at some point a few years ago I had to create or accidentally created a new user account. My old account, with many files that I don't want to lose, is still there under Macintosh HD > Users > Deleted Users. I have a 512GB SSD on this Macbook and between the old deleted user account and my current active user account, my hard drive is almost maxed out.
But I just bought a new (to me) Macbook with a 1TB drive I'm transferring over to. Is there a way to migrate and combine both of the accounts (deleted and active) on the current laptop into one new active account on the new Macbook?
Any input or help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hello, I am looking for a SIM card reader for my mac. I ordered two off amazon but they did NOT work. ANy recommdendations?
Thanks.
Hi everyone! I could really use a hand! Recently my Gf house was robbed, she thought her MacBook got stolen so she locked trough her iPhone Once she got home she saw her MacBook still there, once she started it ti asked for the 6 digit pin, which she has, but she can’t input any command with the keyboard, the cursor works fine and the keyboard works with everything else (WiFi password), anyone had the same issue? Thanks in advance!
I finally convinced my in-laws to try macOS on my old m1 MacBook Pro to see how they get on. My hope is they abandon their old 6th gen laptop for a shiny m4 iMac
So far they’ve struggled quite a bit, a lot more than I anticipated
I’ve spent a few hours explaining features like the menu bar, gesture controls (mission control, full screen apps, swiping, right click). additionally I’ve configured all of their applications and the dock for them
Understandably I can’t be available at all times to help them, so I was wondering if anyone had any quick/easy guides I can pass on for them to read/watch. Any ideas?
I know they’ve been mentioned a lot and the general advice is just “accept them”
I struggle with severe anxiety and OCD.
Aside from keyboard covers (on the off chance that I forget to take it off when I close the screen) are there any other fixes that anyone’s found regarding the glossy keys?
Are keyboard stickers safe? I hate the glossy look that I see on some books.
(I would be okay with it if ALL the keys evenly got glossy at the same time but some of them looking different from others would really bother me)
Before anyone suggests it, yes I’m already on meds for anxiety and I’ve been working on OCD but I’m just asking for general advice to see if maybe someone’s come up with a solution.
My current ideas just involve an external keyboard or just using a keyboard cover that u take off every time before closing the book (which is what I’m doing now but it’s a hassle.)
I’ve looked into keyboard skins but idk if that’ll damage the device since I’ve read airs are engineered down to the millimeter which makes sense.
I just got a 14” MacBook Pro with the m4 pro chip and I can’t seems to drop my memory usage bellow 6gb
