I've googled for this a few times now, but it seems like there is nothing in the whole of the internet about this specific issue...
The folder and password work fine but I just cannot add a single file. A grey stop sign shows up when I try.
I went to Get Info, and tried to change the permission but a pop-up window said I do not have the right authority. Which is very strange. And behind my own user name it said "read and write" already, behind Everyone and Staff it says only read. And as I mentioned I cannot change this.
I already tried my other account on this Mac but that one has no more authority than my main one.
Does someone has the answer?
Hello, could you give me some feedback on how your iMac M3 is working? Especially when editing and rendering videos in FinalCutPro in 4k and editing photos in Photoshop? Is there a lot of swap or is the memory supporting it without exceeding it?
so from past 2 days my mac M2 is not waking up immediately when i lift the lid! every time i have to hold the power button for seconds to turn it on why is it so? please lemme know what should i do?
Hello everyone,
I updated the CPU on my iMac 2019 5K 27-inch, it had an original i5-8500. I updated with an i7-9700K, but then it presented anomalies when trying to connect... the system started normally, I entered the profile and I was able to see that the new processor already appeared in the system. A few minutes later it restarted on its own. Does anyone know why this happens? Is the power source not coping?
Then I installed the i5-8500 again and the problem was resolved.
It's likely that not even the model i7-9700 without the (K) will work, maybe the i5-9600K/i9-9900/i9-9900K is more likely to work. It seems that the i7 line was for the 2017 models. Or am I wrong?

Hey people,
I’m looking for a USB-C (Thunderbolt or not) dock to connect two 1080p 75Hz monitors to my MacBook Pro M2 Pro.
Both monitors support video over USB-C and can provide power via USB-C PD, so I’d like a dock that:
• Connects both monitors to the dock, with just one USB-C cable going to the MacBook
• Allows the MacBook to charge via the monitors’ power supply
• Reduces cable clutter and frees up a USB-C port
Any recommendations?
When I opened my computer, it made me enter my password to enable touch id, just like it had been restarted. I quit all my apps before closing it last night. It's been plugged in and closed for about 9 and a half hours. It didn't display the kernel panic thing again, but it did this weird thing like it had been factory reset. But right after I clicked the continue button on the "Welcome to your Mac," the computer went right back to the way I had it, except for the trash can, which now looks like someone ripped a hole in the side of it (lol). What happened here?
Hi there,
I’m on the lookout to buy a 13-inch MacBook Pro M2—yes, the last MacBook ever made featuring a Touch Bar.
My mom owns an M1 13-inch MBP (16GB/1TB), and I’ve used it from time to time. It’s a nice laptop. Even with a lot of programs open, the fans didn’t even kick in. It has long battery life despite being at 84% health, a premium feel, a nice display (I’m aware that the newer MacBook Pros feature ProMotion and Mini-LED), and I love the Touch Bar.
Since I’m looking to buy a MacBook myself, I’m considering the M2 13-inch MBP (24GB/2TB). I mostly do basic tasks—surfing with many tabs open (Safari), reading, watching videos, basic programming in C# with Rider, and occasionally editing videos in DaVinci Resolve. Nothing too crazy, mostly just drone footage or recordings from my phone, and my mom’s MBP never had any issues running these tasks.
My question: Is this M2 MacBook Pro still worth it in 2025?
I’m considering getting a MacBook Pro because of the fan, which the MacBook Air lacks. This makes it more future-proof for intensive programs which I maybe might end up using, such as rendering more videos / in higher quality, and because of the Touch Bar.
Or should I consider a 14-inch MacBook Pro with M2, M3, or M4 for more future-proofing? What would I be missing out on besides ProMotion and Mini-LED (which isn’t a big deal since I have an iPad Pro 12.9 for watching movies)?
Please let me know your opinions.
Hey everyone,
I’m in the market for a 32-inch 4K monitor that I’ll be using with both my MacBook Pro and desktop PC. My primary use cases include:
• Basic photo editing (color accuracy matters, but not professional level).
• Casual gaming (not competitive, but smooth experience preferred).
• Programming & productivity (good text clarity, minimal eye strain).
• Content consumption (YouTube, movies, general browsing).
After some research, I’ve shortlisted these options:
• Gigabyte M32U – Great value but has some compromises.
• LG Ultragear 32GR93U-B – Looks solid, but not about reliability
• MSI MAG 322UPF – Newer model, but not many reviews yet.
Since I’ll be using this with my MacBook Pro, macOS text clarity & scaling support is important. Also, I want a USB-C connection or at least a reliable way to connect via USB-C to DisplayPort/HDMI. VESA mount support would be a plus.
Would love to hear your thoughts! If you own one of these or have a better recommendation, I’d really appreciate your input. Thanks in advance! 😊
Good morning everyone,
I have a 2011 Macbook pro with Intel hd 3000 graphics card but I can't boot the system.
I have a problem after installing big sur following the guide, it freezes at startup about a third of the way through loading on the apple logo.
I tried to put verbose mode and it shows me this error: IOPlatformpanicaction -> appleahcidiskdriver IOPlatformpanicaction -> applesmc IOPlatformpanicaction -> bbb5701enet
Can you please help me?
Hello there,
I need to decide between these two models. I will be doing heavy photoshop and lightroom and video editing.
Which has better performance?
M2 Air 16gb 256gb 8 core CPU/GPU
M1 Pro 16gb 512gb 8 core CPU/GPU
Both around 800-900 bucks refurbed like-new Thanks in advance!
I want to buy a 4k monitor for my macbook pro. I have seen a lot of posts about Scaling issues and text being blurry on unsupported monitors. I don’t have the budget for the studio display. Can you guys suggest some monitors and also confirm if you yourself have faced this issues? And if yes, how you resolved them?
I am totally new to Mac - a newbie. I have the 2020 M1 Pro with Touch Bar, I would like to add the snipping too function (control+Shift+command+4) to my Touch Bar would make my life easier. Is this possible? I tried and couldn’t figure it out.
Hi all, I have a Mac mini M2 and a friend is getting rid of a 2013 iMac (A1418). Can I use the iMac just as a display for the mini?
Currently I'm a Business Statistic student and I gonna buy a mac and use it for a long time. My major is related to data and analysist and I'm wavering between a mac pro M1/M2 and a mac air M2/M3. Should I choose 8gb ram or 16gb ram ? And can mac air run some data works ?
Where's the heating feature i had on my intel macbook that kept it nice and toasty during the winter?
It's so hard to work with this machine, it stays cold all the time to the point i can't feel my fingers and i keep mistyping...
I literally paid for heated seats on my car, is this a tactic for apple to do the same? Charge for the palm heating in future models??
Unacceptable...
/joke
Edit: added /joke just in case because it seems the meme flair isn’t enough
I have one from 2018 in the space grey color with the following specs:
No keyboard or mouse.
I have no use for it anymore. Is there a market for selling it? Any recommendations for where? I would prefer to avoid shipping it unless there’s a company that does trade ins and sends me packaging materials. I’m happy to try to sell locally (I’m in Seattle) but I’m not sure where would be best to post it for sale to reach an audience that would appreciate what it is.
Thanks in advance!

I tried accessing my photo booth application a new way by going the finder folder "Pictures." A window popped up that said something along the lines of "this is not your default library. Change this to default?" I was confused, so I press continue. I checked my photo booth and my pictures and videos from the last three months were deleted. These files are really important, as they contained really important photos and memories. Is there a way to get them back? I know about the pictures and show contents stuff in finder but that certain photo collection/library isn't there.
I would just probably use it for school and maybe some games that are made for Mac
Hey all,
I am posting this for a friend who is having a problem with his MacBook Pro and would like to get some closure on what his Mac is currently experiencing. Any help would be appreciated!
For some context about a week ago, he was happily watching YouTube on his Mac while charging when all of a sudden he noticed his cable was no longer charging his computer. Out of frustration he went and grabbed a different charger in the hopes his cable had developed a fault but to no avail, the machine still would not charge.
He came to me for help with his problem, prior to this his battery had already been needing to be replaced for some time as his computer would barely hold a charge so I suggested it may be worth biting the bullet and getting a battery replacement. From my research, a lot of these issues are related to a faulty/damaged battery and with his being in such a poor state it seemed like the more logical step.
Fast forward to a couple of days ago, with his assistance (and iFixit) we completed a battery swap. At first, all seems successful, the computer turns on with 60% battery charge from the brand new battery. We go to test the charging but nothing. Checked all four ports but not a single one accepts a charge.
What I found weird is that all four ports accept data connections (we managed to take a backup of important files before it went kaput) but just do not charge. While the machine had some life I tried the classic NVRAM / SMC but nothing, the Apple Diagnostic menu and safe boot mode to no avail. (Not sure if worth noting but the Apple 'System Information' panel, under 'AC Charger Information:' did not detect any charging cable at all)
The computer is a little dusty on the inside, would it be worth taking the ports out and giving them a good clean? From a basic inspection, they don't seem like they have any trapped dirt on the inside.
Could this be a software issue? Or did his charger potentially fry some thunderbolt-controlling chip on the inside? Have you experienced any similar issues with all 4 ports no longer accepting charge? Any help would be appreciated!
P.S: I am aware the next reasonable thing to do would be to bring it to a specialist for repair, I have informed him but he does not live in an area with any repair shops nearby and would like to exhaust all other options before he has to.
I got a (I think 2004) Cinema Display, it came with a hdmi adapter. But what is this cable, and what does it actually do?
And one extra question, when I connect my disc drive and keyboard to the display it says that it uses too much power. Anyway to fix this? Or do I have to connect my disc drive directly to my MacBook?
Hi Maccies
I've had this magic mouse for many many years, so perhaps it's just that its days have passed, but I've never noticed any type of lagging/weird behaviour/anything at all. It's worked perfectly for maybe the last decade? Either way: I'm not too angry about having to buy a new one, but I'd love to be 100% certain that I need to before I do.
So yesterday I was working on my computer, I'm a graphic designer, and from one moment into the next, the trackpad(?) stopped working. Nothing weird happened, it didn't drop from the table or get wet or something. Now I can still track the cursor/move around, and do a normal left-click, but all other "magic" capabilities have been lost. I can't scroll up or down, I can't swipe with multiple fingers to get to a different space, and I can't do a right-mouse click which I assume is somehow activated by the mouse feeling that you hit the trackpad somewhere on the right?
Conclusion: this is very annoying and I need a working mouse for my work, so the question is this: Is there anything I can try to revive this mouse, or is this thing broken for real? I've tried restarting the computer, updating everything and 'forgetting' and reconnecting it. Haven't tried connecting it with a different computer to see if that makes a difference yet but I can also try that. Anything else I could try?
psa: I'm a big fan of the magic mouse's magic abilities with all the swipe gestures. I truly love the whole thing. No I don't mind the charging situation (even with an old one like this it barely ever needs to charge) and the ergonomics are apparently fine for my hands/arms. So whoever wants to recommend a different mouse, I don't care for them haha. I only wish it had a find-my chip but otherwise it's literally perfect for me.
resolution 5120 x 2160
So it's ultrawide ~40k ich with PPI slightly about 140. I'm not familiar with the scalling issue on mac as I was on laptop only so far. I'm trying to understand if this will be fine. I think at that size and resolution it should be fine without scaling. Have anyone tried similar display?
Another question if I may. What is the cheapest 31.5inch+ display with IPS athat would be good with mac without the bluriness compared to windows. Is there such thing?
Hello everyone, I often work while I’m on the train, I still use a MacBook Air 2018 with Catalina, but at home I have a MacMini M1 with Monterrey, unfortunately, I’ve already tried teamviewer but I’ve failed, probably because I’m using an older version. Are there any free alternatives? being able control the mac mini with the laptop while i’m away from home would be really useful
16gb mac mini m4 is 500 dollors (with edu discount). While the 24gb version is 700 dollars.is it worth it to future proof the mac mini by paying 200 more? These are my use cases
Programming (I will not run windows or anything and I will not be using code as iam a neovim user) 2.daily driving (school stuff and web browsing) 3.video editing(Amv using davinci resolve 1080p playback and 4k rendering .iam a noob btw) 4.light gaming(emulation and minecraft. No non native games)
Also i have a confusion about 256gb storage that is whether it is enough or not . and external tb4 ssd enclosures are mostly not available in my country and the available ones are out of my budget.i don't need insane 2tb or 4tb storage.i can find cheap 512gb external drives with 800mbs to 1000mbs read and write speeds.is this speed enough for storing videos and games (I will not store apps in it).will this decrease my game performance. Sorry for a big post.pls explain me detailedly.even scold me if I am stupid.my previous machine was a 18 yr old laptop with dual core cpu and 2gb ram.it could not even run windows (btw iam so grateful that it made learn Unix based os)
Hello everyone I just want to know that my laptop is under warranty right now till August, will my laptop got repaired from apple store at free of cost
Hi Legends, I have bought Macbook Pro High Sierra version one week ago, and I need to install the programs I usually use , Like Photoshop and illustrator free, so I heard it’s impossible to use cra*ks right now, so I need some solutions to download them for free and activated
I just picked up an iMac G3 (summer 2000 / PowerMac2,2) off of Marketplace, and it’s running 9.2.2 beautifully, but it’s making this persisting buzzing/humming noise. Here’s a quick video clip of it:
Does anyone know what might be causing this noise? CRT? Power supply? The disc drive is empty, and it’s not the HDD (as far as I can tell.)
