Car play music volume control when maps are being used

Hey everyone!

I just recently started using CarPlay. Today, when I was using google maps to navigate (with the maps audio on), I couldn’t change the music volume. When i’d turn the volume knob it would increase the map navigation audio but not my music.

Is there a way around that?

CarPlay started only playing music thru phone speakers?

I have a 2016 ford mustang and Apple CarPlay has worked fine for years, this morning it would only play music out my phone speakers. Like I can select music and start playing it on the car stereo, but it plays out of my phone?

Has anyone with sync 3 had this issue or fixed it in the past?

CarPlay stuck in dark mode

Hello everyone! Just a quick question. I installed a third party device into my stereo that adds CarPlay to my vehicle and it is stuck in dark mode. I’ve tried going into the settings and changing to “always light” but there’s no option for it. Additionally, I’ve tried to turn off my car and turn it back on with no luck. I’m running iOS 17.5.1 if that helps!

How Many Miles?

I live about a hour outside of New Orleans, and take I-55 down to I-10, and then to New Orleans. Once I’m on I-55, it gives me the miles to where I have to exit I-10. NOT how many miles to the end of I-55, and not how many miles to the end of my trip, just to my exit. Funny thing is, the display will show 10 miles left to go on I-55, but I-55 ENDS at I-10. There is no way to go any further on I-55. Seems it would be BETTER to tell me how many miles to the end of I-55, and then tell me how many miles to my exit on I-10. I do seem to recall this was the way it worked at one point, but am far from sure. Just wondering if there is a setting I can change to get this to display more accurately I have to travel before I have to make a change in highways.

2013 civiv portable carplay. Which one?

I am planning or wanting to have a portable carplay installed.

My budget is $130, but I might be able to squeeze in more if it is reasonable. I am just a student so I am not looking for anything too fancy. I am happy to buy stuff from Ali/temu. There are so many of them but they look very similar to me. So I am just thinking of getting the one with the best deal.

Any other suggestions are welcomed. Thanks!

Wireless CarPlay is trash

I have to get this off my chest. Wireless CarPlay is trash. It draws more power than standard CarPlay. There can be audio and video lag. Connecting as a whole is a crapshoot. And most people use a wireless charger which overheats your phone. Mini cooper is the worst offender. They only have wireless CarPlay. Every car that has CarPlay should offer wired as a back up as minimum!

Thanks for coming to my ted talk

Siri won’t give directions because I’m driving!

Have briefly used CarPlay with a wired connection just to see how useful it was, all was fine, so I bought a wireless adapter, so I didn’t have to charge my phone unnecessarily.

When wired, I can ask Siri for directions and they’ll get loaded up on the map, all good.

When I do the same thing, ask in exactly the same way, Siri just says “I can’t show you that while you’re driving” surely that defeats the object? I’ve now got to mess about with the screen to get a route anywhere, rather than being able to do it hands free.

I can’t believe it’s designed to work like that, so is there a setting I’m missing somewhere?

Car Play won’t work 2017 Honda Accord E

I’ve tried everything from restarting my stereo system to restarting my phone, to make sure that this app is off this app is on, it charges my phone and it works on my girlfriend‘s phone, but nothing for me. I’ve tried making sure that it’s not restricted. My car doesn’t pop up on CarPlay on my phone in general settings. Does anybody have another solution other than taking it to a dealer?

Wired CarPlay display

Back in October, I bought a cheap wireless CarPlay display, but the interference was terrible. The audio would drop out, the device would freeze, or it would disconnect entirely. Is there a wired version that I can mount on my center console to plug my phone directly into? I don’t have the option to mount one in the dash itself.

Volume from phone

Is there a way I can just have my phone connected to charge without using the car audio or have it constantly switching? I’ll be scrolling twitter or Reddit and the sound will switch to iPhone when I just want it coming from my phone. It’s mostly annoying when I’m just trying to listen to the radio and I scroll by something and it automatically changes the source to IPhone.

Wheelpal search device problem

Heya!

I just downloaded the Wheelpal app on my Iphone 14 pro max. After installing you’ll see a drop down menu to find your device, it says: ‘search device model’. But after dropping down it will stuck on ‘Loading…’.

Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

Lag with Pionner EVO93DAB-UNI and maps

Every time i turn on the car, waze and apple maps with apple car play takes arround 5 minutes to get the correct position. Afterwards the 5 minutes it works perfect.

I tried all, reset the iphone, reset the pionner unit, update the firmware….

Car play uses the phones GPS or the Pionner GPS ? (maybe a problem with the Pionner antena?) Any idea what i can do to solve this issue?

This CarPlay bug has haunted me for years with no resolution...

EDIT: I disabled Mic access to both Amazon and Alexa just to be doubly sure, and when I left today for work everything worked as expected, no audio cut-outs. However, getting back home it did it again, even with permissions revoked from those two apps. Ugh

I posted this in r/ios about a year ago, but didn't get any valuable insights. Since that post I've gotten yet another new car, which also has the same exact issue, but in the process learned some new information that could help with debugging. Was hoping maybe someone could answer this or at least tell me I'm not crazy.

So, for the past maybe 6-7 years I've experienced this rather weird CarPlay bug and I have no idea how to fix it. It's persisted across multiple iPhones, iOS versions, head units, vehicles, and addresses (Yes, I know. Just read on).

I've owned an iPhone 7, iPhone XS, iPhone 12 PM, and now my iPhone 14 Pro Max. This has been across iOS versions 10 to 18 Developer Beta 1 (Haven't tested DB2 yet since I just downloaded it this evening). It's been with both the original version of CarPlay, and the redesign Apple did in 2019 and iOS 13. It's happened with a Sony XAV-AX1000 after-market head unit (Wired CarPlay) and a stock 2021 Hyundai Venue (Wireless CarPlay); it currently happens with my stock 2024 Chevrolet Trax with Wireless Carplay and my recently purchased stock 2020 Kia Sorento (Wired CarPlay). I've moved 3 different times during this time period, totaling 4 individual addresses, and it only happens wherever my home location is (My parents house, my first apartment, my first home, and my current home).

The bug is: Whenever I leave (or sometimes return) to my house, no matter where my house is physically located, CarPlay audio will cut out for a second, only to resume playing through the driver-side front speaker. This happens as well with Siri or Apple Maps navigation, except those almost exclusively play through the front driver-side (Prompts, pretty much). When this happens, audio loses a ton of clarity, like you were playing it through a really crappy Bluetooth speaker. Pausing and resuming the music will fix it, and audio will resume playing through all four speakers. It's the weirdest thing, I know. This also happens with AirPods if I'm wearing them in the car (Used to have a car that didn't have CarPlay, recently traded it. I'd wear AirPods for music, and they'd cut out then come right back without having to pause). Something interesting as well is, in my Sorento, it has automatic A/C, and when the car's microphone gets activated the fans automatically turn down a couple notches. Whenever I drive the Kia and this bug happens, the fans get permanently turned down until I pause and play the music. Only then will they come back to full speed. However, my phone never shows the orange dot that the mic has been activated, making me believe it's an audio bug and not the actual microphone. It wouldn't be related to WiFi because, with Wireless CarPlay, you're required to connect to the car's WiFi connection, and doing so blocks all other WiFi connections to your phone. Attempting to enable WiFi in Control Center (Because it gets "disabled") kills the CarPlay connection.

I'm aware of how absolutely nuts this sounds, but I wanted to know if I was alone. I cannot seem to pinpoint the issue, since it's been happening for years with a variety of different variables at play. I can try to record it since it's pretty reproducible -- Get in car, start car, connect to CarPlay, start playing music, drive away. After a second or two, it cuts out. Pause, play, everything is back to normal.

Anyone else? Am I crazy? Am I haunted? Who knows at this point, I sure don't.

TL;DR -- Every phone and car I've had for the past 6 years, regardless of software version, make, model, location, or connection method, has a bug which causes audio to cut out during CarPlay and only play through front driver-side speaker, only when I'm leaving my house and get a few hundred feet away. A pause/play fixes it. Help please, I'm desperate lol

Missing SharePlay

I subscribed to the Apple one trial so my wife can more easily control music on our upcoming trip, but while testing today I didn’t get the share icon in Apple Music within CarPlay. Are there any tips or tricks to get it to show? I have an iPhone 15 PM using wireless CarPlay and the car is a ‘24 Highlander.

Touchscreen not responding in CarPlay only

On a Kia rental (believe it’s a 2023 model). Looks like it supports wireless CarPlay only as it was the only way I could connect it (or didn’t find the actual port).

In any case worked fine for a day but just now started giving me issues with CarPlay not connecting. Forgot the device from the radio and CarPlay loaded but the touchscreen would not respond - this is in CarPlay only. Outside of CarPlay, touch works fine.

Turned off the car, waited a few minutes and started it, but the problem persisted.

Been using CarPlay on other cars since day 1, and never seen this issue. Any ideas?

What happened to that fancy UI update

You know how when they announced that big CarPlay UI during iOS17 that stretches and fits any screen regardless of size? Did they ever launch that or is it still up to the car company to implement all that?

CarPlay not working on Android Radio

Hey Guys,

I bought a CLK W209 from 2004 with an Android Radio from Ebay in order to use Apple Carplay. At first it was working perfectly, but a month ago it stopped. I asked the seller for solution and he sent me different apk-Versions for the Zlink-App, but none of them worked. I can connect the phone to the radio and everything works, but when I open the Zlink-App it's just the start screen and nothing more happens.

I also tried a Reboot, I connected to wifi when installing it and different other solutions that I found here and on YT.

Do you have any idea, how to get the Carplay working again?

Thanks in advance,

Leon

Apple CarPlay Spotify

Apple CarPlay Spotify

Hello, I have had Apple CarPlay for several years now and I remember with Spotify had a white background screen. It was much easier to see in the sun and I’m wondering if there’s any option or setting to get the white background back. The transparent background that matches with the album cover is darker and harder to see in direct sunlight. Did the white background go away entirely?? The honestly changes so much in my Apple CarPlay experience.

CarPlay has been not working on MY PHONE ONLY and apple support couldn’t even figure it out.

I’m at the end of my rope I’ve tried everything. CarPlay isn’t restricted on my phone, and my car won’t pop up in the CarPlay setting itself. But literally any other phone will connect. My cord is Apple certified and the Apple support person agreed that the cord is not the issue. I tried to have my car forget my phone and reconnect, didn’t work. Please help. I have an iPhone 13 on the newest update, and I’m connecting to a 2019 Chevy equinox.

Apple carplay - iPhone 15/16 problem

Hello, I have a KIA Sportage and i need cable for using apple carplay. Until now I had older iPhone so I used certified lightning Apple cabel (usb-A=lightning)

Now I have iphone 15, so there is usb-c charger. Apple doesnt have original certified USB-A - USB-C cable, so I can not set up my new iphone to carplay in my car.

Can someone please help? Do you have “certified” cable from other supplier than Apple that works?

Thank you so much

Have Questions About MBB Max 3.0 8+128 Multimedia Video Box with HDMI Port, Wireless CarPlay Adapter Ai Box?

I am really considering buying this MBB Max 3.0 wireless CarPlay adapter for my car.

My Car is a 2004 Dodge SRT-4 and i just upgraded the head unit in my car to a Boss Elite 9inch display infotainment stereo BE9ACP wired connection, it runs both CarPlay and Android Auto, and i have an iphone, and a android phone.

From what i was able to find out on the net is that the MBB Max 3.0 only works on wired connection, which i have, but i cant find anything about after market head units, i need to know if this will work with my infotainment stereo before i buy (i will be buying it off amazon.com while i live in canada) i can always return it if it doesnt work but id rather not have to send it back.

Does anyone own this Adapter Ai Box? and does it work on your after market head unit?

Id also like to know if this Box indeeds let you install any app from the play store, and that app will work on the infotaintment screen, thats basicly why i want this Box is to use any app, watch videos, and go wireless

Any infomation on this Box will be helpful to me!

Thank you

car play in k14 micra (2018/18plate)

i have a 2018 nissan micra (n-connecta). The car was made in late may and to my knowledge there isn’t car play on any of the models apart from the tekna which doesn’t have a cd player or satnav, later in 2018 (68 plates) every model got a refreshed screen with new software and car play standard (aslong as the spec has a screen). I was wondering is there any software update i could do (currently on nissan software F107) to get car play etc. Surely if the tekna runs the same software but without the sat nav which gives it car play there could be a chance to install that software onto my car?. Honestly im just looking for any alternative which wouldn’t require installing a completely new screen thanks!

Incoming and outgoing calls

Whenever there is an incoming call (or outgoing via Siri), the phone app takes over the entire screen. This is especially inconvenient because 99% of the time I am using GPS navigation in the car. I have to manually navigate back to the GPS app or Home Screen during the call. Is there a way to prevent the phone app from taking over the whole screen when an incoming call comes in?
