Anyone on the iOS 18.2 RC and having music freeze when it’s supposed to go to the next song? The next song plays fine but the title and art are stuck at 0:00 remaining from the previous song. It’s fixable by hitting next track and going back but it’s annoying. It’s specifically noticeable on CarPlay but it may be on actual iOS too when listening to music.
I think Steve Jobs would’ve added video and web (Safari) to CarPlay right from the start. It distracts the driver? Only if you’re looking at it. Interview on national TV? I just want to listen to it without having the iPhone unlocked and play the video while audio is on CarPlay. Have you never been stuck in a traffic jam, Apple?!
I want to read the news and watch TV while I am waiting, charging or whatever. None of Apple‘s business. I want it, just give it to me. There’s nothing that stops you technically.
Just another case of Apple having lost it’s passion for the user. I have absolutely no clue what drove Apple off this cliff.
Sorry for the rant but it’s beyond belief.
Hey everyone,
I recently purchased a 2022 XC60 Recharge with the AAOS system and decided to use a Carlinkit 5.0 for wireless Apple CarPlay. While most things are working fine, I'm having issues with the steering wheel media controls—specifically the "Next Song" and "Previous Song" buttons. Everything else, like volume control, works as expected.
Has anyone else encountered this issue and found a fix? Any advice or workarounds would be appreciated! I've already gone ahead and updated to the latest firmware via the settings menu. I believe I am on a July 2024 version.
Thanks in advance.
Im looking for a wireless carplay / Android auto adapter. I have a Toyota Carolla Hybrid 2022. My phone is Samsung 23 ultra. What I would like to do is mirror my phone to my stereo screen wirelessly to use my maps and show videos for my niece and nephew. I dont want to spend to much. Does anyone have any suggestions on model and brand that will work?
Thank You for any suggestions you will provide.
I just replaced my phone after the last one got stolen and ever since I’ve been getting random directions by an older sounding more robotic version of Siri. I have no navigation apps, active and have no destination set on Apple maps, or even if I did, I’ll get two separate sets of directions, one is the right one with Apple Maps giving me correct directions and the other is just that voice giving me random directions and I can’t turn it off. It cuts into my music and is very annoying. I’ve searched the Internet and I haven’t found anyone that has the same problem. I’m running iOS 18.1.1.
Hello. This is something I’ve encountered consistently (100% of the time) over the last week or so.
I have a 2021 Mercedes-Benz C300, whose infotainment has reached a point where there have been no updates rolled out for over 3 years.
Apple Music is playing music, and Maps are navigating while connected to CarPlay. If I trigger Siri with either the voice control button in my car or by saying Hey Siri, I’ll get Siri to respond normally.
Now, when Siri goes back into her shell, there’s no audio from my phone. The music continues to play but there’s no sound. Weirdly, even my car’s voice assistant won’t be triggered by using the voice control button. Apple Maps continues to work, visually.
If I turn up the volume using my car’s dial, it’ll control the ‘Call Volume’ as opposed to entertainment or voice output volume.
Which makes me think one of the recent Apple updates has screwed with how the different voice channels are used. I did see a post about this a few weeks ago on here. Link
It’s not manifesting in that same way for me, so I don’t know if this is the result of the same problem. Next time, I will try picking up my phone in this situation and using the phone volume button and see if I can get the sound back.
As of now, the only fix I’ve discovered has been to disconnect the CarPlay cable and connect it back.
Writing this post to warn others about Carlinkit’s extremely poor customer service.
I bought the device in March’24 to get Wireless Carplay for my 2024 Toyota Sienna. Initially I was happy with my purchase but after 6 months, it started giving lot of issues especially frequent disconnects.
Their customer service was very unhelpful - their suggestions have now bricked the device fully and they are asking me to purchase a new device since their warranty is only for 6 months.
Stay away from Carlinkit for your next purchase!
Has anyone found a box which allows CarPlay for this setup? If so which device and dies it work properly vs. having bugs or quirks? Thanks in advance.
Hello, I just bought Mercedes C-class, which unfortunately don’t have CarPlay or android auto feature. I saw some expensive modules, and some cheap OBD plugs (10-20€ Aliexpress). Will the cheap one work fine, or I should go for the module? If yes which one I should get for my car?
Recently bought a new van and Apple Carplay is giving me some issues. Usually when I ask Siri to send a message, for example, Siri would reply and say something like "What would you like to send?". After speaking the message to Siri she would then reply "Your message reads *message text*, would you like to send?". Now for some reason sometimes Siri doesn't speak so I would have no idea what the message reads etc. This has started happening recently after I changed my phone from an iPhone 12 to a 16 pro max.
I also made sure that the settings on my new phone are identical to the settings on the old phone. Has anyone experienced something similar with Apple Carplay?
So im looking into carplay for my 2017 X1, (im looking at units for my car specifically that will replace the screen and be a little bigger) it looks like all the chinese head unit options are about the same, maybe one has a little more ram, but they look about the same and a lot share the same images even. Does anybody know if they boot straight to carplay? or will it boot to android, and I have to navigate (which to be fair is probably just one click on the home screen) to carplay? I know these are cheap af so im not sure where my expectations should lie, just havent been able to find anything out about this. I guess another questions would be what problems/issues/finicky bugs are these susceptible to? TIA!
I bought this CarPlay unit and had it installed by my mechanic. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CQL47587/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_0CE9F2QRBE47K5Y03F69?linkCode=ml2&tag=candrenlycosa-20
I drive a 2016 Mini Cooper F56.
It does everything the other CarPlay double din stereo devices do in my Camry and Miata, except Siri won’t dictate texts.
Me: Hey Siri, send a text to John. Siri: What would you like to say to John? Siri: ….. Me: I’m on my way over. Siri: …. Siri: What would you like to say to John? Me: I’m in my way over. Siri: ….
Then Siri times out.
I’ve looked at the manual and my phone is set up correctly and works in my other two vehicles. Is there anyone here with any idea on how to fix this? I’m using an iPhone 12 Pro Max with the latest iOS 18.1.1.
Thank you. This is so frustrating 😭
Hello,
I just got my first car and unfortunately it doesn’t have any sort of navigation in the system.
I have seen a lot of usb car play, so I am wondering if any of these would work on my car.
If anyone has tried or have it worked it could you please share your experience
i have a kenwood system in my hilux it works smoothly 90 percent of the time however the other ten it pops up saying verify wifi antenna to use and i have to turn my car off and on again for it to work, any ideas how to fix thankyou
Hey y’all
I have a 2018 Mazda3 Sport. Had CarPlay installed from the dealer in 2020. I regularly would map out my drive and keep my screen on the music only app and still would receive turn by turn at the bottom of the screen. For the last few months now, I’m not able to get my navigation shown in my music only app. Not able to find much online for help.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks!
Hi, I have general question, or curiosity really regarding these dongles. As far as I know non of them are actually MFI certified. Does anyone know if Apple or Apple retailers sell any of the brands? Is it “illegal” to sell these if they are not MFI? Illegal as in can Apple sue, and if they can are they? Im just generally not very knowledgable about the MFI situation with these.

I recently installed this head unit on my hyundai i20 and the navigation is messed up like this in every navigation app
ps: I have a wired Carplay
Just upgraded my car to have Apple CarPlay and absolutely love it. But… CarPlay requires me to log off WiFi and Nexar only lets me record footage with my WiFi on. Any suggestions on what to do? If I have to get rid of the dashcam, are there any dashcams that will record without my phone needing to connect to it via WiFi?
Edit: I don’t the option to plug in CarPlay directly to my phone via US because my car play is a portable stereo that’s mounted on the dash.
Ever since ios18 released google maps notifications ignores all input from my car buttons making carplay useless for me until the notification goes away on its own.
My car does not have touch screen and i use a scroll wheel with an ok and back hutton to navigate and use carplay.
Every other app that pops up a notification registers input. Waze, apple maps whatsapp etc.
Has anyone else had this issue?
