I recently purchased a cheaper AI carplay box on amazon which doesnt support or allow downloading or deleting apps. It runs on android 12 version. Now I wanted to sideload tivimate app which isnt available for download on playstore. When enabled factory settings on, its asking for manufacturer password and not sure what this is. I even tried to move apk file with the help of usb but no luck.

Now wondering how can I sideload some apk and make it to work? Looking for some help from PROs in the field.

I’m building a custom center console to accept a double din unit. Since it’s a convertible wonder when screen won’t be killed by the sun both in longevity and being able to see during the day. Any suggestions are welcomed and thank you for your help in advance.

[Help] Lexus UX 2019 CarPlay Issue - Mic Doesn’t Work During Calls

Hey everyone,

I have a 2019 Lexus UX and recently ran into a strange issue with CarPlay. When I connect my phone through a USB cable, CarPlay works perfectly for everything except phone calls. I can hear the other person loud and clear, but they can’t hear me at all. However, when I switch to using Bluetooth for calls, the problem goes away, and the mic works fine.

I don’t think it’s the mic since it works perfectly via Bluetooth. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Is it a CarPlay issue or something wrong with the mic when connected via USB? Any suggestions for fixing this would be much appreciated!

Sometimes when I’m driving I’d like to use voice commands to send myself a short message like a reminder. I know I can do it using text but I sometimes forget to go back and check those. I’d like to do it using email but when I use the “send an email to…” command I get a message saying an app is not installed. I use the default mail app on my phone with an @me.com email address. Is there no way to do this or am I just missing something?

Hello! I'm having a weird problem with my iPhone (15 pro max), I can set a destination on Waze, Maps, whatever before connecting (both wireless or cable) to my car and as soon as it connects, it changes the location of the device to either Ghana, China, Tokyo or other places thousands of kilometers away. So naturally, the phone changes time, date and directions stop working because it thinks im somewhere else. As soon as I disconnect the phone, it returns to the actual location. Has anyone ever encountered this?

I was on iOS 18.0.1 on my IPhone 16 Pro Max, and was having lots of issues with CarPlay not working or crashing. Someone here on Reddit mentioned that CarPlay was much more stable on 18.1 and since we are so close to the release date I upgraded to the beta.

On both versions of iOS, in Apple Music on the CarPlay screen, some of my playlists are grayed out. If I tap them to play nothing happens. If I ask Siri to play them, it replies “Looks like Apple Music can’t play that.“ I’m not a paid Apple Music subscriber. I do have an automation set to play one of my playlists when the phone connects to my car, and that is one of the grayed-out playlists and it does work in that instance. What can I try next to fix it? I have indeed rebooted my phone.

My car is a 2019 VW Tiguan.

Carplay works fine most of the time. But sometimes (happened twice today) when I start the car, carplay only gives me music from Apple music but no navigation audio. The music will be lowered when apple map is supposed to say something.

I checked my volume knob when map is supposed to say something and they are at the right volume.

The only temporary solution I have right now is unplug and plug it back in, which will solve it 99% of the time.

Does anyone also experience this issue?

Just replaced my old CarPlay because it had some annoying issues, but one of the things it did have was a usb port on the end of the CarPlay power cord that goes into the cigarette port in my car. I liked this because I could use it to charge my phone. The new CarPlay I just got doesn’t have a usb port and is just a power supply. I am looking for some kind of device I can plug the power supply into that adds a usb port so I can use the same cigarette port for both functions. Anyone know what this would be called or have a link to something I could buy?

Most of my time seems to be spent waiting for my kids to finish something, sitting in a car with the engine off. Is there a way I can AirPlay a movie from my phone to the screen in the car?

I'm having a frustrating latency issue with my Carlinkit 5. Whenever I play music, both Waze and Google Maps become really slow and unresponsive. But as soon as I stop the music, everything works perfectly fine.

I've already tried a few things:

Full reset

Disabled the GPS option

Put frame rate to 20fps

Despite these attempts, the issue persists. Has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas on what could be causing it ?

How do I stop letting someone else’s Spotify take over mine in the CarPlay? My son started doing it and now he will be able to do it when he isn’t even in the car and it’s making me crazy! I just want listen to what I wanna listen to when I’m driving around and he’s not even here

Hi! I’d like to ask if anyone here is also experiencing with iOS18, if you have a shortcut with a “choose from menu action”, it no longer shows this menu on the CarPlay display. It reads out the elements and then to choose one you have to mention “the first” or “the second”. I still have an iPhone with ios17 and the shortcut works as it used to, so I’m guessing it’s an iOS18 thing. Anyone else experiencing the same or has found a way to solve this?

I had been running CarPlay on a 2019 Ford Edge with a wireless adapter. About 2 years ago, I unsubscribed from a google calendar that had a recurring Friday afternoon event on it. I’ve confirmed the calendar no longer shows up in my list of calendars on my google account as well as on my iPhone calendars. I don’t see the Friday event anywhere but in the car on CarPlay.

Mildly annoying, but easy enough to ignore. I’ve checked every setting I can think of in my google account, iPhone, and CarPlay. The calendar & event in question appears nowhere but on CarPlay.

Now I’ve got a new 2025 Mercedes GLC 300. Wireless CarPlay, works beautifully. Until Friday. And there’s that darn event again. I had hoped with the new car, it would finally disappear, but no such luck.

How do I make CarPlay forget about a calendar that I no longer subscribe to? It is not a calendar that I own or have any control over, so I’m really at a loss here.

I have a sony xav-ax5000 unit with wired carplay and just plugged in carlinkit 5 today. Followed the instruction and initial setup was done within 1 minute.

Tried it out 2-3 times and starts up in less than a minute. Overall happy with the experience.

During phone calls, my connection drops progressively from 5G to nothing while I'm on a phone call. This doesn't happen on my android (with android auto) and it doesn't make a difference if I'm using wired or wireless carplay. Does anyone else experience this or have a resolution?

I have a Volvo V90 from 2020 and just bought the Carlinkit 5.0. Sometimes, the main screen in the car completely turns off, as if it has crashed. I believe that before it happens, the CarPlay part of the screen freezes, and I can’t press anything. The only thing that makes it work again is restarting the car.

Does anyone have a solution to my problem or a suggestion for something I can try?

Hey Guys, In my Dacia Sandero Saurus 2021 I have the following problem: The Carplay itself functions perfectly, but it takes around 5 minutes to start up after the car system starts

Is there anything I can do about this? I've updated the system already

I own an imported car, the navigation maps still show my car in the original country (I never needed to update the car navigation system as it’s useless).

This wasn’t an issue at all before, but ever since ios 18, whenever I use carplay, google maps immediately graps my location off the car navigation system, and it stays like that for a while until it goes back to my correct location.

Anyone had the same issue? And any fix for this?

I have a 2019 equinox with carplay. I got the autosky adapter and it works good. The problem is I want it to use my unlimited onstar data plan in car wifi..but it uses my cell phone wifi limited data plan. As soon as I connect to Bluetooth on my phone with adapter it kicks my phone off of the onstar wifi and uses the phones data...any ideas...thanks

I live in Germany. I like the perspective that Amigo provides which shows farther into the driving direction and allows me to anticipate turns and lane switches. However Apple Maps doesn't provide this. I sometimes see this when I am just entering berlin, but that's it.
I mentioned where I live in case this perspective is only limited to areas mapped by Apple.(no clue why it should be difficult when almost all of the country has been mapped on street view)

I don’t think this is specific to CarPlay, but this is the only place I noticed it. Before upgrading to iOS 18, if someone sent an iMessage that contained a picture, Siri would read it back something like “John sent a picture that includes a red car” or something like that. Now it just says “John sent sent a picture with”
