Hello,
I bought a 2009 audi Q5 with this zhtd-a4l/q5 android CarPlay system and I don't understand what this AVM thing is, can someone explain? Trying to access it says "NO SIGNAL". I thought this to be some sort of climate control thing? Because if even I exit to the original menu, I don't have access to the climate control features on screen, meaning I have to adjust seat heating, blower, etc. "blind" on just pure guess.
Please someone help me with this. thank you
How do you get HondaLink to work with CarPlay?
Which is the best option for my 2024 Kia Forte to watch Netflix and Youtube?
Hi there,
I am using Apple CarPlay in my car. The only problem I have (the same problem I've had with any hands-free option before) is: when I am at my home or office gates I must open it remotely via calling the "gates" number (my most dialed number). But that means I cannot have other calls at the same time or listen something nice on the radio/podcast.
Is there a way to make that opening gates call somehow in the background?
My car has both wired and wireless CarPlay. For most purposes, wireless CarPlay is fine. However, for listening to Tidal, I need wired CarPlay to get better quality music. (Yes, there is a significant difference).
Is there a way so that the phone will connect on wireless CarPlay when not plugged in, and then force it over on wired CarPlay when plugging in?
So now on even short trips where I’ll just put on the radio, I need to plug in the phone since if I enable wireless CarPlay, it will stay on wireless even with the phone plugged in!
Preferably I want to keep Bluetooth on, as this keeps my Apple Watch and iPhone connected.

Looking to put in an ai box so my passenger can watch videos on the front screen.
The digi dash 3.0 seems interesting but I’m having a hard time finding legit reviews.
Also looking at the boost-carmedia but it’s a lot cheaper so I’m not sure if it’s junk
Which is the most reliable? What are you’re favourite ai boxes?
Thanks
My VPN software is blocking CarPlay from connecting to some server somewhere. This did not happen prior to iOS 18.1.
When I plug-in my iphone to the car USB - after a timeout of 30sec or so I get a message on the screen "Smartphone Connection Error - Please unplug, wait a moment, and re-plug your device.
This would happen every time, different cords, new cords, didn't matter.
I took my car to the dealership to have them do a software update. This also did not fix the issue.
Then I started wondering if it was my VPN software - this has caused unexpected issues in the past.
If I turn off my ExpressVPN - it connects just fine.. if I turn the VPN on after connecting it will work for a few minutes before disconnecting.
My takeaway from this is that CarPlay is sending messages to some Apple server that has VPN IP addresses blocked and CarPlay won't operate without being connected to some server somewhere.
Apple please fix this!
Alguém me consegue dar uma ajuda? Obrigado
As title shows, looking to modernize my E46 by taking out the factory unit and installing a new head unit that works with CarPlay. Would love recommendations for which head unit to buy. Kinda indifferent between cheaper units found on AliExpress or eBay or just spending the extra money and buying a bigger name brand. Any specific recommendations would extremely help :)
Hello everyone. I think I've come across a wiring issue, but I want to run it by someone with more expertise. Yesterday my carplay was fine before I brought it to the mechanics. When I got it back today, only the back right speaker was working and the carplay screen would only turn on when my headlights were on. Any help would be much appreciated.
Edit: I only brought it in for a transmission fluid change and oil change. Its also a 2011 Ford Ranger.
after i update ios 18 sometimes carplay randomly disconnect i already update ios 18.3 but still like that i dont know how to fix it
Hi everyone, looking for some assistance with my 2021 Toyota Camry for iPhone 15 (IOS 18.1.1).
I can currently connect to CarPlay while using a USB but am not being prompted to connect to CarPlay wirelessly.
I’ve tried resetting the entertainment system by holding the power button for 5 seconds. I’ve tried removing the device from the car and the phone. I made sure CarPlay is turned on and android play is turned off in projection settings.
I could use any other suggestions! It’s supposed to be a compatible device for wireless CarPlay. Thank you in advance!
Turned CarPlay on. Tried songs, library, and playlist. Only music can be heard, words can’t be heard. HELP PLEASE!
I got a new iPhone 16 today and upgraded from my 14. I was using a USB A to lightening cord for CarPlay that was working just fine, but my new iPhone 16 requires a USB C to C cord.
When i plug the new cord in (i have tried 2, both Apple), it connects to charge, but CarPlay doesn’t connect. The Bluetooth is connected between my new phone and my car as well. Apple Car play is enabled in my car.
When I click on “Phone projection” in the Kia settings, it comes up with the message, “please connect a phone that supports Android Auto or Apple CarPlay using an approved USB cable”
This is an Apple cable. So really not sure what the issue is. Does my Kia not connect CarPlay through a USB C to C cable?
Hi everyone,
I have an aftermarket carplay screen installed in my car, and it works great! However, when I try to use the navigation, I can barely hear Siri talk. The music does go up and down in volume, but Siri stays quiet. Does anyone know where i can change this, I can’t seem to find it.
Hi, I want to get an aftermarket navigation unit, and wandering if the extra 2 GB of ram from 6 to 8 are worth the extra $
I have a new to me 2022 vehicle and I use CarPlay almost exclusively in my car, but there are some things in HondaLink that I’d like to check from time to time. But HondaLink informs me I must exit CarPlay. Does anyone know what’s going on and how to get around it?
TIA
I was wondering if there was a way to prevent CarPlay from activating and turning off my radio while I browse Reddit or Facebook? for context, I drive for work and have frequent stops at houses. Sometimes I like to sit and browse around Facebook/Reddit. But when I do this CarPlay activates and switches to audio that is not there the only thing I have found is disconnecting the CarPlay functionality in the vehicle.
I have a Lenovo, allegedly, android head unit with decent specs.
I often use it without AA. I connect via Bluetooth and can play my phone media and answer my calls. Steering wheel controls also work. Sometimes I connect it to my phone's hotspot and play music from the YouTube app on the head unit.
All good so far. It does wired and wireless AA and wired CarPlay via ZLink. When using AA, both Bluetooth and WiFi hotspot are connected to my phone. However, every time I press play on media it starts and immediately pauses. Every single time. I turn off Bluetooth and everything works fine, except my calls now only use my phone's speaker. Media works though.
Anyone facing something similar ?
TLDR: Android head unit with ZLink. Android Auto pauses media instantly when BT connected. When not, media works but phone calls do not. Help.
Hi there!
I have a problem with picking up calls in CarPlay in my Mini Cooper 2016. I installed an aftermarket CarPlay box into my nbt system a couple of years ago, which works great! The only thing is that when I get calls, when I press the pick up button it doesn’t work, but pressing the red decline button it does work. I’ve had this issue from the beginning and with all phones connecting. So now I’ve been having to search for my phone while driving to pick up the phone, which hasn’t bothered me, but I thought I might shoot my shot here on Reddit, to see if anyone might have found a fix for a similar problem?
Newbie to iOS here. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to turn off spoken directions on Apple maps. I read a post which suggested it isn't possible but I wanted to ask, since I kinda don't get that.
For me, but maybe only me, I find spoken directions really distracting and mildly dangerous.
Any help would be appreciated!
If I have to go back to google maps, that's fine, just please confirm.
I have a 2014 Ford Fiesta MK7. I installed a CarPlay system with Zlink. Now, I can no longer reset the tire pressure warning light, which could be done with the original screen. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I just leased a Kia EV9 GT and this is the first time I've had carplay. Is there really no work around to display text messages? I am really trying not to use my phone while driving, but there are many times when I need to see (or hear I guess) a text message while driving and I don't want passengers to hear it. You can type in maps but not in messages? It just doesn't make sense. Reading a text that takes probaly a split second to read is much less distracting than listening to it and trying to figure out what it is even saying.
I know everyone is going to go crazy over this, but I can text on my phone without looking and I could also do it on the car screen and I find talking on the phone or even this much more distracting. I'm trying to break the habit because I know it can be unsafe, but so far carplay is too crippled.
Anyways, these companies want to make it, so you don't use a phone while driving but then cripple their features and make it extremely frustrating to use.
For spotify, when searching for artists is there a way to actually have it go to artists page just like on the phone app? Again, they crippled it enough making it useless. It also only having voice search is much more distracting. And again, maps has a keyboard so why do these apps not?
